Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4954  Ninth Daughter Of The Davis Family

Lydia cried out loud, pouring her heart out as she remained on her fatherʼs lap and hugged him. Her tears didnʼt stop, finally grieving her people who died along with her, yet only she got to escape. The survivorʼs guilt was real with her.

Davis could feel it through his Heart Intent. Alicia Starshroud truly cared for her people. He kept comforting her with soothing whispers and caressing the back of her shoulder with his warm hand, hoping to ease her mental wounds.

At the same time, he developed a firm hatred of whoever made his daughter feel this way, inwardly vowing to make them pay. After all, he had never stopped viewing Lydia as his daughter from the start to the end. There were no lies in the promises he made to her.

Ellia also hugged them from the side, holding them dear. Her tears also fell incessantly as she repeatedly thanked Davis in her mind for bringing their Lydia back.

Arc peeked inside from the door, his smile unfading before he turned to look at his mother, who was shedding tears. They were greatly relieved that Lydia decided to confess and become a part of their family, as well as pour her worries out. That was a sign that she was willing to trust them.

In the hall, Evelynn and the others smiled relievedly while Eden looked clueless yet full of suspicion since the atmosphere turned odd, becoming joyful like they were under some kind of illusion. In truth, their entire soul sense was in Fioraʼs room, hoping for a good outcome, and it was given to them.

Similarly, on the rooftop, Myria shed tears as she hid her face with her palms.

So this was what Davis hid from her.

Her granddaughter turned out to be a reincarnator. When she learned of this earlier, before Davis decided to confront Lydia, she couldnʼt stop her trembling, but witnessing everything that happened, she was finally able to control herself.

Tia patted Myriaʼs shoulders, comforting her.

They both knew dealing with reincarnators wasnʼt an easy issue since they had their own ideals and pursuits. It wouldʼve become an obsession by the time they were forced to reincarnate, and when they reincarnated, they wouldnʼt be afraid to make use of their new family like theyʼre squeezing the last drop of blood to further their own goals and ambitions.

After all, which reincarnator who had lived for hundreds and thousands of years would be interested in creating new relationships?

Fortunately, their Lydia didnʼt turn out to be such a person.

Otherwise, Davis wouldʼve exposed her.

Davis comforted Lydia, finally heaving a breath as he reclaimed himself and wiped the tears that were about to fall.

At first, Davis was terrified about how to deal with Lydia, but the more he interacted with her, the more he found himself at ease. He found her not that different from his Little Lydia, he found her not hostile, he found her willing to protect Arc, he found her wanting to be with this family- all of it aiding him in being bold.

With most of these inclinations clear to him, he had long deemed her worthy of being a part of the family and had only planned on officially inviting her, but getting her to pour out her worries was a plus, allowing him to feel like he had strengthened his bond with her.

Slowly, Lydia also regained herself.

She didnʼt feel embarrassed. She didnʼt feel sorrowful.

She felt free.

Crying out for the first time after being awakened in this world as Lydia, she felt like the world was hers to roam. Her thoughts turned clear, full of clarity.

ʼI really love my father even though I wanted to deny it so bad…ʼ She thought with a smile filling her face.

She never felt hugging someone could feel so warm yet platonic. She guessed this is what it means to feel familial love.

She raised her head, looking at his face.

”Then Iʼll take you up on your offer, father. From this moment forth, I am Lydia, the ninth daughter of the Davis Familyʼs first generation, born to Davis Loret and Ellia Davis.”

”Good.” Davis smilingly nodded as he turned to look at Ellia, who also nodded.

He let Lydia go, and she cupped her hands.

”I will now perform the filial ceremony to you both.”

Davis stood and grasped her to prevent her from kneeling, ”Aye, no need to be so formal. You were born into this family, growing from a baby to what you are now. Our view about you will, of course, change, but it wonʼt change significantly, for you are still our child and a cute sister to your siblings.”

Lydia blinked before nodding, ”Should I reveal my past to all immediate members of our family?”

”Whether you want to reveal that youʼre a reincarnator or not to the entirety of the family is your choice. If you want to continue to hide it, good, but donʼt expect your siblings to treat you with sincerity when they find out by themselves.”

”Does this mean youʼll reveal this to my mothers?”

”Naturally. I donʼt hide secrets from my wives as long as it doesnʼt hurt them karmically or mentally.”

Lydia went speechless but wasnʼt really surprised. She knew her father was like this, extremely caring and fond of his wives. She sighed.

”Iʼll reveal it… acting cute is tiring…”

Davis raised his brows before he teasingly smiled, ”Youʼre still a child, and acting cute is your universe-given perk. How about you continue to call me papa?”

”Ridiculous~”

Lydia smiled embarrassedly, looking not at all resistant to the idea. She imagined she could use it to gain something that she couldnʼt obtain. She wanted to see how a hundred-year-old father would react to a three-hundred-year-old daughter acting cute.

Davis chuckled, ”Alright, tell me who your father and mother are. Iʼll reluctantly accept them as my fellow in-laws or whatever it is.”

Lydia was taken aback before she shook her head.

”No need…. The Starshroud Family is strict and ruthless. All children will be treated as disciples from the moment they are born. There is no special treatment even for children of higher birth, but at the same time, it doesnʼt necessarily take power and influence away from these children after they grow up. Regardless, I was stripped away from them from a young age of one, and itʼs been three hundred years since then till I died. I heard my father died during a beast hunt when I was twelve, and as for my other, she married someone else and was later killed by her husband in a drunk stupor when I was sixteen. That person already came out of imprisonment fifty years later after finishing his sentence, and also died two years later after offending someone he couldnʼt afford to.”

Lydia paused before smiling lightly, ”I donʼt know them, nor can I know them.”

”…”

Davis turned silent before suddenly hugging Lydia. He embraced her more firmly.

Lydia didnʼt resist, indulging herself in this familiar warmth she loved so much. She might not have hugged her father with love personally, but her unawakened self had done this hundreds of times. Her little body was fond of this sensation.

Ellia also caressed Lydiaʼs head, causing the latter to faintly smile.

”Mother, Iʼm sorry I disrespected you. I shouldʼve believed you when you said you would protect me no matter what.”

”Itʼs fine, really fine. As long as you understand that we donʼt mean any harm and that we love you to death, everything is fine.”

Lydiaʼs smile widened. She noticed that this family really loves to use the phrase ʼto deathʼ. Regardless, she loved her mother without even having to say it. Before Davis, the two people she cared about the most in this family were indeed Ellia and-

”Big brother Arc…”

Lydia called out, her demeanor suddenly becoming difficult. Davis let her go, and Arc walked in with striding steps, his expression devoid of the smile he had shown before.

He glared at her with one of his brows raised, cowing Lydia even more.

”Iʼm sorry… that I deceived you…” She lowered her head.

”Oh? You have the nerve to talk about it?”

”I…”

*Paah~*

”Eeh~”

Arc abruptly lifted Lydia up and slapped her butt, causing her to squeal.

*Paah~* *Paah~*

”If you see me- as a big brother-”

*Paah~* *Paah~*

”-then let me- discipline you-”

*Paah~*

”- for running around-”

*Paah~* *Paah~*

”-and deceiving me- the entire time.”

Arc repeatedly struck Lydiaʼs butt, causing her to squeal as tears appeared in her eyes. Although there were resounding smacks, there was no pain. However, the embarrassment was evident.

”Father, brother is beating me! Save me~” Lydia cried out as she reached out her hand to him.

”…”

Davis was utterly speechless before he backed off and raised his hands in surrender, instantly betraying her.

The elder siblings had the right to discipline the younger siblings.

Lydiaʼs expression turned pale. She instantly turned to her pillar, ”Mother…”

”…”

Ellia forcefully giggled, ”Hehe, disciplining a child who made us worry too much is good… good…”

”…”

Lydia was one burst away from crying. Unable to beat Arc because he was a mortal who would die instantly of a surge in power, she could only let him beat her up. Although the defensive treasures on him would protect him, it was so unfair.

In the end, Arc let Lydia go rather quickly after two dozen slaps.

Lydia got down and rubbed her butt even though she felt no pain. She pouted, feeling greatly embarrassed, but still looked at Arc with hope.

”Will you forgive me with this…?”

”What are you waiting for, you little astral demoness. I donʼt have much time to have fun, so letʼs go play outside!”

Arc grabbed Lydiaʼs hand and rushed out of the room. Lydia was dragged away by him. She was partly dumbfounded but quickly came out of her reverie, causing her to nod.

”Mm!~”

Davis and Ellia watched them leave, their expressions pleased and content.

Fiora smilingly entered her own room after staying out like a stranger. She turned to look at the door where Arc and Lydia passed through before asking a question in a prideful tone.

”Darling, donʼt you think our son greatly resembles you?”

”I can attest to that.” Ellia nodded, appearing elated by the turn of events, ”Arc is a smart, caring child. My prince was also like this with his little sister, despite her cold and awkward nature, always making the effort to play together and care for her when many didnʼt dare because of her unraveling and nearly all-seeing Transcendent Truth Eyes, which more or less made her mature like dealing with a reincarnator.”

”…”

Davis blinked, turning silent.

Ellia realized her mistake, but then shook her head, ”I also miss Clara. May she prosper and be blessed with good health no matter where she is.”

”Yes,” Davis nodded calmly, ”I too miss her.”

His sapphire eyes gleamed with a hint of sadness.
