Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4968  The True Side?

After some time, Lydia left with the others, and Logan took Claire back to her room.

The two of them remained silent before Logan asked.

”What happened when Davis came to visit you?”

Claire remained silent. She turned to look at him and held his hand, her eyes still smeared with a red hue.

”Words canʼt describe what I did to our son and what he told me later on. Go ahead and look into my memories, but donʼt be mad when you come to know what transpired, please?”

Logan knew Claireʼs outburst wasnʼt because of Lydia, because she loved her son more than anything else in the world except him. With her words, he finally knew it was just like he had thought.

Claire pouted, ”And itʼs not like what youʼre thinking…”

Logan blinked, ”What am I thinking?”

Claire pursed her lips before touching her bosom and swearing, ”I swear Davis and I havenʼt done anything wrong. I misunderstood and wronged him all by myself.”

Logan chuckled, ”Weʼll know when I look into your memories, but I have never doubted him. He prefers virgins, not someone who is already taken.”

”…” Claire went speechless.

”Itʼs not difficult.” Logan waved his hand dismissively, ”Just look at his actions rather than his words. Judging by the way he acts, he would unhesitatingly kill me first even if he wanted to take you, so one way or another, you just misunderstood him by yourself.”

”…” Claire pouted, but she didnʼt retort, feeling all down.

Logan threw his arm around her neck and comforted her.

”Donʼt worry, no matter how much you wronged him, Iʼll help you repair your relationship with him. He is a good child who will never forsake you- that much, I know for a fact. I have told you that I can rest assured to allow him to take care of you even if I were to die one day.”

”Donʼt say that… Iʼll follow you to the reincarnation cycle if you were to die.”

”…”

Logan and Claire shared a kiss after the silence. At the same time, their foreheads touched, and Claire gave up any resistance, allowing Logan to seep through her soul sea and access her memories with her soul essence.

He saw everything, heard everything, and felt everything from Claireʼs perspective.

After a few moments, he released Claire and looked at her with a gaze full of pity.

”Way to go, Claire. Iʼve never seen him make a face like that after so many years. You mightʼve killed him inwardly already.”

”…”

Claireʼs purple eyes quickly turned moist.

”Alright, alright, that was just a joke. Still, youʼre the first person to have caused immense damage to the Divine Emperor of Deathʼs heart. The world would praise you.”

”Why would you say that? Youʼre so mean…”

Claire shed tears and sobbed in his chest, beating him up with her small fists.

Logan chuckled as he embraced her, trying to relieve her guilt as he made more jokes about it. He took some more time to comfort her, finally, allowing Claire to retrieve herself from her wallowing in the abyss.

She wiped her tears and snot on Loganʼs chest as revenge before moving back and looking at him solemnly.

”So what do you think about Evan and Laura…?”

”…”

Logan paused. He let go to turn around and took a deep, long breath. Each moment passing during this one breath felt like a nightmare to Claire. She tightened her grasp on his sleeves, his presence feeling heavy when she saw him stand up.

”No, donʼt…!”

She quickly tried to pull him back, but he was like a rising mountain, causing her to stand up instead.

Her expression was full of panic, ”Wait! Iʼve told our son to handle this…!”

”Why are you burdening him again? As the father, I should put an end to those shameful children of mine!”

”You mean to say…”

”Other than ending them, what else is there? Would you like to see them get married and have children!?”

”…” Claire shook, her expression scared, ”No, but killing them… how can we!?”

”…” Logan blinked with wide eyes, ”So what would you like me to do then?”

Claire stifled her tears, facing her husband with a pleading look, ”Please… they are your children. We have once talked about this, havenʼt we…?”

Logan shook his head, ”This and that are different… from the looks of it, Evan and Laura knew what they were doing and even hastily cemented their relationship. Itʼs unknown how it led to this, but since they havenʼt confessed, theyʼre both…”

Feeling strength leave his body, Logan plopped back to the sofa, his expression heavy, ”This must be the curse of the Loret Family I carry…”

”How could it be your fault?”

Claire held him, wrapping her arms around his head as she used her bosoms to calm him.

Logan remained silent.

Back then, when he had entered the Empyrean Stage, a few things became clear to him after consolidating his truesoul without accepting his previous incarnations, mainly the reason why he had left the Loret Family and didnʼt want anything to do with them until the previous Loret Emperor, his father, died, and all went to hell with multiple empires targeting them.

He was deeply ashamed of himself and was deeply anguished, becoming a wandering soul. The way he lived his life might have appeared carefree and unrestrained, cultivating and picking up women left and right to have a one night stand but in reality, he had been drowning in sorrow without even being aware because he had severely repressed his memories after finding his father and his third sister in bed, only to confront them and end up knowing the truth.

Claire held him tightly, recalling the night he had confessed his true self to her after he entered the Empyrean Stage.

”Just because you were born from your father and your third sister doesnʼt mean you carry any curse.” She comforted him.

”It just isnʼt me. The Loret Family had high moral values and placed honor above everything else, but in truth, they were in decline, and many began leading a life of debauchery secretly as though venting stress.”

”Some Loret Family princes and princesses at that point had many secretive incestuous relationships on top of being known to be a family that womanizes. Hendrickson, our old Royal Advisor, mentioned this to me in passing, but I didnʼt believe him at all. He didnʼt dare continue for fear of offending me. I had only thought of myself to be a young prince who had gone out for adventure, possessing a strong inclination to not return and live as I want, that I didnʼt care about my duties at all… but it turns out…”

Logan made a difficult expression before he sighed.

He held his head, trembling, ”This is just a repeat of that… I want to kill myself for not looking after them properly… how could I have not seen this coming? I was too complacent, too caught up in wanting to protect the family and catch up to my son… Itʼs my fault… Itʼs my fault…”

”No, shut up!”

Claire screamed into his soul, holding him firmly as she sobbingly comforted him.

”Then-”

”No, we canʼt kill them!”

In between her bosoms, Logan blinked before his lips curled, ”Then Iʼll go see our son and talk to him about what could be done.”
