Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4967  Here To Stay

”Grandma, grandpa. I have deep respect for you two. Because of you, Father holds such an admirable perspective on life and even gives a reincarnator like me, who forcefully intruded into the family by a twist of fate, a second chance. Because you two forgave him and accepted him for who he was, and, most importantly, gave him a place to belong, I was also able to walk forward and accept myself as Lydia and truly wish to live as Lydia. Please accept this bow of mine.”

After doing this so many times, Lydia had grown used to apologizing, but this time around, her expression was incredibly sincere and full of respect as she knelt and bent her head all the way until she touched the ground.

These two were the foundation of the Davis Family from one perspective.

If they hadnʼt treated Davis well, then who knew how his life wouldʼve been shaped? Perhaps he wouldʼve become the true calamity of the universe everyone was talking about, not only in terms of power but also character.

Hence, she held them in immense respect.

After a few moments, when she raised her head, her expression froze.

She saw Claire holding her mouth with tears spilling from her eyes like a waterfall. Her brows were squinted with sorrow and self-reproach, full of guilt.

”Claire…”

”Aah…”

Logan barely touched her, not understanding why Claire was crying when she abruptly burst into tears and fell to her knees, causing his eyes to go wide as he hurriedly supported her.

”Claire!”

”Mother!” Evelynn and the others walked towards her, intending to support her.

Claireʼs purple pupils shuddered as she gazed at Lydia, but what she was looking at wasnʼt her, but little Davis.

His expression was one of hurt when she had pushed him away, almost denying the place he belonged to. Her heart shattered to see him ever make that kind of expression, feeling like she had betrayed his trust.

”…” Lydia also evidently panicked, not knowing if she had said something wrong.

Why would Claire suddenly breakdown in front of her?

But suddenly, Claire flicked her hands away from them and moved to her, wrapping her arms around Lydiaʼs neck as she embraced her.

”Iʼm sorry… Iʼm sorry… Your place is always here with me, with us… That will never change, so please donʼt leave us…”

”…”

Lydia was simply dumbfounded. Her nose reddened before she sniffled lightly, also hugging her grandmother, whom she had played with many times.

”Mhm, Iʼll never leave this family. Iʼm here to stay, Grandma…”

Lydia declared softly, causing Claire to nod.

”Good… good…”

She hugged Lydia deeply, badly wishing she could say it to Davis when she met him again, but she feared he might never come close to her side, always maintaining a respectable distance that might as well be saying she wasnʼt his mother anymore.

All those emotions made Lydia misunderstand that her grandma cared deeply for her, not that it was false, but it managed to do its thing and firmly embed in Lydiaʼs mind that the place she belonged to was none other than this family.

It was her… home.

==========

Bylai was walking towards her next job in the stone-paved pathway of the Davis Family Estate when, suddenly, a figure descended before her.

”Husband~”

Her golden eyes gleamed before she ran and hugged Davis, causing him to pet her head.

”Bylai, I need your help.”

”Iʼve been quite busy helping people build their new mansions. Donʼt tell me you also want to build one? Should I build it on the outskirts? For a mistress?”

She raised her brows teasingly.

”…” Davis turned speechless before he slapped her butt, causing her to squeal.

The intention to romance appeared before his head, but he threw that away quickly. Her words also reminded him of Frostrose, but he threw that back just as quickly.

”Iʼm here to discuss some unspeakable issue. Should we talk here or go to your mansion?”

”Here is fine, unless you want me to lose all my clothes~” Bylai smirked.

Davis was speechless once again. His women were quite frankly horny after they didnʼt see him for a long time. He felt guilt every time he wanted to say yes but could only say no. He put up a spatial barrier to block both sound and vision, even blocking Stellaʼs peeking.

Bylai swore she heard a voice of discontent echo from somewhere.

Regardless, she looked at Davis, wondering what he meant by unspeakable issue. He had also sent Aila a letter stating that he was busy and would meet her later. Was this because of this unspeakable issue?

She couldnʼt help but raise her hand and touch his cheek, caressing it, ”I can repair sculptures. Everyone needs you, so please donʼt break yourself since I canʼt repair you…”

”…” Davis became taken aback.

He then revealed a heartened smile before he patted her head, ”Silly wife, Iʼm not going to break over anything, much less this issue. Itʼs tiring not catching a break, but these issues all need to be dealt with without fail. Nonetheless, although I have asked for your help, it is not necessary, so you can decline it. It would be uncomfortable to hear, much less speak about it.”

”Ask me anything. As long as I can help, I wonʼt keep quiet.” Bylai said confidently.

Davis raised his hand, rubbing his cheek with his finger with some awkwardness, but his expression quickly smoothed over.

”Alright then. I need you to answer these questions truthfully. Doesnʼt matter how awful it sounds.”

”…” Bylai blinked. Awful? Had she messed up agreeing to this?

”First question, your Zlatan Family had a secretive incestual tradition to help the family retain the Golden Dragon Bloodline. Am I correct?”

”…” Bylaiʼs eyes widened before she nodded, ”Yes.”

”You were about to get married to your own brother, right? What did you feel?”

”…” Bylaiʼs brows furrowed, full of disdain and disgusted emotions.

Davis felt that was not right before he added, ”Not now. Before you fell prey to your own family and became my captive, falling in love with me. I want the opinion of Bylai Zlatan of the Zlatan Family.”

”Oh…”

Bylai reeled back as she closed her eyes, calming her emotions before she recalled her past that had become long vague in her mind.

There were unwanted memories here that she didnʼt want to touch because she had caused her own familyʼs fall since they decided to sacrifice her.

ʼThis is indeed uncomfortable…ʼ

Bylai took a deep breath and opened her eyes.

”If it were for the sake of the family, I had been willing, although I wasnʼt exactly as excited or even angry, since it was becoming commonplace to marry siblings to keep the bloodline intact. To me, it was just another day where I couldnʼt care less as long as it benefited the family, but naturally, I wasnʼt keen on getting married that way. I wanted to experience love.”

”I see. The emotions of deflecting shame are quite high. I suppose they would also keep a huge wall…”

”Who?”

”Evan and Laura.”

”…” Bylai blinked before her eyes went wide as saucers.

”Donʼt tell anyone, and thanks for answering my questions since I needed an expert opinion. Iʼll make it up to you later.”

Davis tapped Bylaiʼs forehead before disappearing, leaving Bylai quite dumbfounded before she hurriedly shouted.

”Wa- Whoʼs an expert? Thatʼs my old rotten family! Wait- At least, write some letters for me too!~”

The spatial barrier disappeared along with Davis, but after shouting, she remained unmoving, unable to believe something like that had happened to this family.

Moreover, Evan and Laura were just around twenty-one or twenty-two years old. They were quite young to be trying something this audacious.

Nonetheless, she sighed, finally knowing why Davis had to run around since this was a matter that could shake the Loret Family and make them a laughing stock of the sanctuary, their reputation taking a great hit, not to mention the shame and disciplinary action Evan and Laura would be subjected to.

She could only hope for the best.

Davis left quickly because he sensed his fatherʼs undulations moving out of the mansion he had just come out of.

He turned to look back at Bylai, speechless that she also wanted letters.

Whatʼs with everyone asking for one? He had only written letters to Aila because that was the form of communication they used to interact back then, and he wanted this to be something unique between them, but it seems like he may not be able to keep it like that.

Nonetheless, he knew why Bylai would ask for one since he could inhale Ailaʼs scent from her. Ailaʼs scent was always unique and charming, and had more presence than the others due to the nature of her Mutated Silken Cherry Physique. Hence, he could tell Bylai had just returned from meeting Aila and also knew about the letter subsequently.

He couldnʼt wait to meet Aila, but refocused on the matter at hand, moving to intercept his father, who might likely harm Evan and Laura. After all, he was he knew Claire wouldnʼt be able to keep secrets from him.
