Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4051  The Prophecy

The chamber was dark, light unable to cover the area.

Divine Oracle Hong slumped in his cultivation cushion, which even had a recliner.

What the Celestial Transcendent said made him forget about his woes and think about who this new disciple was for him to be asking for divination regarding her future and what it means for him, posing a danger or not.

”Wait.. is this the other kind of danger...?” Divine Oracle Hong blinked.

Did the Celestial Transcendent get a new woman and was disguising her to be a disciple? He felt that this wasnʼt possible since the Celestial Transcendent remained faithful to one woman all this time, a feat that he didnʼt think was possible until he befriended him and knew about him.

But he felt it wasnʼt as simple as getting another woman.

”A person… whose fate is as obscure as an anarchic entity…”

Divine Oracle Hong exhaled, knowing what exactly this meant as it indicated that this person, who was neither an Anarchic Divergent nor an anomalous entity, was a person whose destiny had exceeded the realm of ordinary or even supreme. Even supreme geniuses and those who stood even above wouldnʼt be able to compare.

This was equivalent to becoming a ruler in the Greater Realm, their growth unstoppable.

However, it wasnʼt like one could attain their destiny as though it was written in stone. They could die halfway as well but what made these people with obscure fates scary was that their destiny wasnʼt set in stone. They could move their destiny from their endpoint.

He knew the Celestial Transcendent was also one of those people, their fates incomprehensible and their destinies rewritten by themselves.

”Well… divining her future is going to take more of my ailing lifespan…”

Divine Oracle Hong heaved a heavy sigh.

”But if itʼs a request from him, I canʼt deny it as a friend, can I?”

He smirked before his brows furrowed. He lifted his head and looked at the shell hung on a wall in front of him. It appeared to be a turtle shell, its body golden. However, there were numerous writings in it, one that forewarned of the dangers the Mortal Layer of the Three-Layered Universe was going to face.

[Beneath the heavens, chaos will surge.

The anarchic entity of death shall rise after the mourning, casting an immortal shadow.

The sovereign of death, wreathed in calamity, shall sever threads of fate across tens of realms.

From the land of beginnings, the first spark shall ignite, consuming the elegant rose and tainting the forest.

The isles will drown in despair, and the luminous abode will darken with his coming.

Three three-headed beasts shall coil and strike, dragging the twilight into its death throes.

In the cold desolation of the blue wasteland, and the forsaken lightning peaks, whispers of annihilation will echo.

The radiance left in the wind and the sheltering moon will dim forever.

The phoenix falls in a blaze of ruin, the tiger loses its roar, and the dragon riding in the winds loses its wings.

Across the sands and the unexplored shadows, his footsteps will imprint despair before finally departing.]

”…”

Divine Oracle Hongʼs expression was solemn.

It was obvious to him that this was about the Divine Emperor of Death trampling numerous Lower Realms. It even told him that his vengeance would start in the land of the beginnings, which he could tell was most likely the Abandoned Immortal Lower Realm. From there on, his deathly air spreads to the other realms.

When it would start was a mystery, but how it started was rather identifiable. The loss of a loved one or an item leads the Divine Emperor of Death to mourn.

Divine Oracle Hong clenched his teeth. He didnʼt know how many years it had been since he received this kind of prophecy. The very notion of it was terrible to the Lower Realms and perhaps many Minor Realms that werenʼt even worthy enough to be recorded in the prophecy.

It was a pity that he couldnʼt say a single word about this to others, or they would know where to track the Divine Emperor of Death once and end him once and for all, but he would receive a severe backlash capable of ending him and the ones who hear from him might encounter the same fate.

It wasnʼt worth revealing the prophecy that contained fully contained anarchic connotations.

If it was just one sentence, it might barely be fine, but for something that was full of it, he knew better than to reveal it.

For the same reason, neither the Celestial Transcendent nor anyone was reckless enough to enter and see the prophecy with their own eyes.

”The prophecy changed, but only around ten realms were spared. There are still many realms that would end up in flames if this calamity is not stopped…”

Divine Oracle Hong shook his head.

He didnʼt see how using the covenant had changed the prophecy to a huge degree. However, the Celestial Transcendent sounded satisfied with it, so he didnʼt want to misguide his efforts since the Celestial Transcendentʼs actions were proven to be right most of the time.

His way was the one that brought a semblance of peace to the numerous realms in this human-occupied galaxy.

Divine Oracle Hong stood up and walked towards the gates. He wobbled from the wine but quickly cleared it from his blood with a few gestures.

His figure was revealed to be somewhat fat, but he was fairly good-looking. His hair was golden, and his eyes shone with a purple light, but he possessed golden-shelled skin on his forehead and many other parts of his body, making it clear he was a magical beast. Each step he took made his belly sway, and there was a lewd smile on his face.

”Saving the Lower Realms is important, but so is siring a child worthy to the Divine Oracle Temple…”

He chuckled, intending to go see his beauties in his harem of ten thousand concubines.

However, he suddenly came to a stop, his expression faltering as he sensed something. He turned to look back, noticing the etching on the golden shell was changing as the letters rearranged themselves and brought forth a new prophecy.

[

Beneath the heavens, chaos will surge.

The heavens grow silent, yet whispers echo in the wildlands.

The anarchic sovereign of nirvana wishes for freedom, yet is unable to fly out of a cage.

A cradle of secrets and boundless life, shall grow beneath his steps.

The first spark emerges after the mourning, spreading like wildfire,

Ancient roots severed, its skies shrouded in despair.

The beasts roar in defiance, their cries falling into the void,

The wolf falters, the crow dims, the turtle wanes, and the twenty-nine skies billow.

The purple tree, vast and expansive, shudders under his shadow and withers,

its luminous leaves falling like tears as the realm breathes its final sigh.

]

”…”

Divine Oracle Hongʼs jaw dropped. He went speechless, practically dumbfounded since he had never seen such a huge change in a prophecy. Should he say as expected of an anarchic prophecy?

”This… this is…”

He hurriedly tried to decipher and could instantly tell that mostly all the realms were spared except one!

”Guards! Bring that idiot back right now!”

He turned around and bellowed joyfully, his booming voice hitting the guards who had just woken up. They shuddered before they cupped their hands and roared.

”Yes, your divinity!”

They rushed out but then stopped halfway, unsure of who their master was calling an idiot.

”Divine Oracle, who-”

”Who is it other than the Celestial Transcendent!? Get his ass back here!”

”Yes-!”

With their mouths shut tight, the guards barely uttered an agreement. They almost fainted. However, they didnʼt dare delay their masterʼs command and quickly headed out.
