I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 694, Launching

*Splash…*

A ship was pushed into the river, that vessel constructed rather impressively in every respect.

“Shaman, I’ve studied and tested the ship thoroughly these past few days, there absolutely won’t be any problems.” Long spoke earnestly.

His expression was extraordinarily serious, as the failure last time had already made him lose face.

This time, his face bore more pride than anything else, for no other reason than the ship had launched successfully.

Su Bai stood on the deck, saying with great satisfaction. “Great, you’ve fixed it up in such a short time.”

He surveyed the ship’s surroundings, wanting to examine the vessel’s every detail.

For this ship to be made to this standard was already impressive. It was comparable in all aspects to the basic ships from Earth. Though it could not be made exactly identical, achieving eighty percent similarity was already remarkable.

This ship, whether its deck or mast, or the passenger environment inside, was all to expectation.

“Shaman, this is all thanks to the blueprints you provided, I merely presented this ship according to the contents on the blueprints.”

Long was extremely excited, pausing before continuing, “I don’t deserve much credit.”

When he had seen the blueprints, he had resolved to construct this ship, despite it being his first attempt.

It had also taken considerable time, and wasted quite a few materials, but fortunately it was finally complete.

“Without your prior know-how and experience, my blueprint alone would be useless.” Su Bai noticed the other was being somewhat modest.

Being able to construct a ship in this Primitive Era was an impressive feat. Even with a blueprint, the blueprint was merely assistance in dire need, what truly added the finishing touch was Long’s own wisdom.

“Shaman, is there anything else you need me to construct? I’ll definitely build it.” Long said earnestly.

He was instantly encouraged, his confidence soaring, wanting to do more for the Tribe.

“Let me first examine this ship’s interior, you should properly rest for a while.” Su Bai said.

“Shaman, this ship is really beautiful.” Yu Ying kept tugging at Su Bai’s sleeve.

Yu Ying had been overjoyed when she heard they were coming to inspect the ship.

She had also seen the blueprint, knowing the miraculous nature of this contraption, something that could let people stand on water without sinking.

After boarding the ship though, she became somewhat frightened, very worried the ship might have problems. So, she stayed close to Su Bai’s side, not daring to leave.

“This ship is really big, it really won’t sink?” Sha Lan stood by the railings. She was cautiously looking down below, afraid this ship would sink.

One must know there were many Ferocious Beasts beneath this river, if it sank that would mean certain death.

“I think it shouldn’t sink, this ship is all made of wood, and wood can float on the river.” Yan Hua immediately said.

Yan Hua was different, she was not afraid at all, instead she was running back and forth on the deck.

Just as if this were on dry land, it had no effect on her whatsoever, instead making her quite happy.

“It won’t sink, don’t worry, wood has great buoyancy, moreover there is the structure of the ship.” Su Bai reassured them.

He too had initially worried this ship might sink, being the first ship built, but the results were quite ideal.

“Shaman, what can this ship be used for?” Yu Ying asked timidly.

“This ship has many uses, it can transport cargo as well as travel to other Tribes.” Su Bai smiled slightly.

“Shaman, I’m very worried that the Ferocious Beasts in the river will attack this ship.” Sha Lan worried.

This was what she worried about most, aside from whether the ship would sink, next was the threat of Ferocious Beasts.

“I doubt that will happen, this ship is big. If something so big suddenly appears on the river’s surface, it will make those Ferocious Beasts wary. What’s more, it is moving.”

Su Bai blinked his black eyes, continuing. “But, as a precaution, we could tie some strongly scented plants to the ship’s sides, so they wouldn’t dare approach.”

“Understood, I’ll have people arrange that.” Sha Lan immediately said.

“Let’s go look at the interior.” Su Bai took the lead walking forward.

*Step step step…*

They walked inside, the spacious interior environment made everyone’s eyes widen.

This ship’s main purpose was to transport people, so the interior space was designed to be particularly large.

Not only that, there was also cargo space, so this ship could also carry goods to trade with other Tribes.

Besides the deck being quite spacious, the interior was furnished with many tables and chairs for people to sit.

However, to accommodate more people, the tables were extremely small, with chairs being most numerous, four chairs surrounding each table.

This thirty-metre vessel could carry over fifty people in total, which is a ton.

Originally it could carry around a hundred people, but space also needed to be reserved for placing cargo.

“Shaman, it’s so spacious inside.” Yu Ying marvelled, though she still did not dare walk far.

“It can definitely seat many people, when we go to other Tribes we won’t need to walk through the forests.” Yan Hua surveyed the surroundings.

It was no longer winter. There was no ice on the river’s surface, so they could not use sleds.

“I wonder how long it takes to travel by ship?” Sha Lan suddenly asked.

“I don’t know, we’ll need someone to test it.” Su Bai said indifferently.

Taking the waterway would definitely be faster than overland travel, most importantly carrying cargo would also be much easier.

No need for everyone to carry goods while advancing, which was both cumbersome and dangerous.

If Ferocious Beasts charged out from nearby, those people simply would not have the time to react.

But travelling by ship was different, the cargo would all be placed in the cabin, and their people only needed to watch for problems on the river’s surface.

“Shaman, after we disembark, I’ll have people test it immediately.” Sha Lan said at once.

“Yeah, test it on the Tribes near the riverside. If there’s time, head to the sea.” Su Bai instructed.

After all, one could not always rely on hot air balloons to reach the sea, as weather conditions could prevent balloon flight.

If the ships did not take too long to reach the ocean, the waterways would be a better choice, and could carry many more people.

“Yes, Shaman, should we have Warriors do the testing?” Sha Lan asked.

“Of course, what if Ferocious Beasts charge out from the river? We must have Warriors go.” Su Bai instructed.

“Then I’ll arrange a few people, we can’t have too many people away at once.” Sha Lan immediately said.

Su Bai nodded lightly, saying. “You can arrange this as you see fit.”
