I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 667, Things Are About to Get Lively

“I remember now, it was when the Shaman asked me to catch some birds and keep them in captivity. Those birds are meant to be used as carrier pigeons, aren’t they?” Sha Lan suddenly recalled.

She had been somewhat puzzled before about why they needed to catch some birds and keep them, especially since these birds were all quite small in size.

They could not be used for food, and certainly could not serve as any role in combat.

“That’s right, those birds. How is their breeding coming along? I remember it’s been quite some time.” Su Bai asked.

This idea had occurred to him before, but since the Tribe’s people were all illiterate, the concept had remained shelved.

However, those birds had continued being kept in captivity, waiting for the day when they could finally be put to use.

The longer the birds were kept in captivity, the greater the likelihood they would return to their roost, and the more reliably they could carry back the desired information.

“They’ve been kept for quite a long time now, but according to what the Shaman just described, we haven’t tested it yet.” Sha Lan was referring to releasing these birds.

When these birds were first caught and brought back, they had been kept in cages the entire time, never once released.

“Then, we’ll test it soon enough. Have Shu Feng or Ai’er take some birds directly to the Sea Fish Tribe.”

Su Bai blinked his black eyes and continued. “Let’s see if those birds will fly back.”

“Understood, I’ll arrange this to be done.” Sha Lan nodded.

“I remember you caught several different types of birds at that time, right? Make sure to record which type has more birds returning.” Su Bai added.

For message delivery, one type of bird would be enough, and they needed to select the best type.

This way, they would not waste too much manpower and energy raising various types of birds.

“I’ll keep proper records of this, Shaman, please rest assured.” Sha Lan responded earnestly.

*Step step step…*

“Knock knock…”

A series of footsteps echoed from downstairs, followed by knocking. After receiving permission, the door opened to reveal the Chieftain.

“Shaman, our people have discovered people from other Tribes.” Yan Jiao got straight to the point.

He had just been overseeing construction work when he received a report from a patrolling Totem Warrior, saying they had discovered people from other Tribes in the forest not far from the Tribe.

“Oh? Are they hostile, or…?” Su Bai asked.

He wanted to first understand who these people were. If they were those who had previously arranged to visit the Tribe, that would be fine.

But if these people intended to attack the Flame Dragon Tribe, hoping to devour the Tribe, that could not be tolerated.

“They’re all carrying numerous Animal Hide Bags of various sizes. It looks like they’ve come to trade.” Yan Jiao explained.

“Are there many of them?” Su Bai continued asking.

“According to the report, there seem to be forty or fifty people, arriving in several waves.” Yan Jiao continued his report.

Su Bai nodded thoughtfully and said. “Then proceed according to what we discussed before. It seems the Flame Dragon Tribe is welcoming its first group of visitors.”

“Understood, I’ll immediately give the orders.” Yan Jiao turned and left.

He needed to first have people wait at the Tribe’s entrance to determine which Tribe they came from.

As well as temporarily confiscate their lethal weapons, which could only be returned when they departed.

“Shaman, our Central Market is about to become lively.” Sha Lan was also getting excited.

“Shaman, what if they refuse to leave their weapons behind?” Yan Hua worried those people might be too stubborn.

No one would want to go to a Tribe for trading and still have to leave behind their weapons, right?

Yan Hua thought about it before. If it were her, she would definitely just leave without entering.

“It’s fine, we thought of a solution for this beforehand. They won’t refuse to enter.” Su Bai appeared quite calm.

“Shaman, may we go and watch?” Yan Hua asked expectantly.

She really wanted to see who exactly had come to the Tribe, and what their reaction to the Central Market would be.

Just thinking about it seemed amusing and Yan Hua was eager to join in the excitement.

“Of course you can. Go and have a look, then tell me about the situation afterwards.” Su Bai waved his hand.

The arrival of these people was as anticipated.

Soon, the Flame Dragon Tribe’s Central Market would be considered a success, and it would attract more people in the future.

“Yes.” Yan Hua happily turned and left.

Sha Lan was the same. She needed to first complete her assigned tasks before going to watch.

“Why aren’t you going to watch with them?” Su Bai noticed Yu Ying still remained in place.

“Shaman, I want to stay by your side in case there’s anything I can help with.” Yu Ying shook her head.

Although Yu Ying was also very curious about the excitement, compared to the Shaman, she would rather choose the latter.

“Haha.” Su Bai laughed heartily, patting her head and saying. “It’s fine, there’s nothing here to be done.”

“Isn’t the Shaman going to have a look?” Yu Ying asked, changing the subject.

“I won’t go. It’s bound to be quite lively, and my presence would make the Totem Warrior worry.” Su Bai raised his eyebrows slightly.

It was not that he did not want to go, but with so many people around, his presence would certainly make those Totem Warriors nervous.

The Totem Warrior would inevitably focus on protecting him, which would be making too big a deal of things.

Others seeing such a formation would know the Flame Dragon Tribe’s Shaman had appeared, and if there really were people with ill intentions, now would be the perfect time to make a move, so it was better to forget about it.

“Shaman, we could secretly hide and watch.” Yu Ying’s pink fox ears twitched.

“Haha… it’s really fine.” Su Bai waved his hand, saying. “Go on, follow Ah’Hua and the others to have a look.”

He noticed Yu Ying had been somewhat tired recently, constantly staying by his side, busily attending to various matters.

At this relaxing moment, he should let her go and watch, and afterwards there would be one more person to tell him about it.

“Shaman, then I’ll go? If there’s anything, immediately send someone to find me.” Yu Ying asked tentatively.

Yu Ying was torn. She really wanted to watch, but was also very worried about the Shaman.

“What could happen to me? At most I’ll drink some tea and read some books.” Su Bai gave Yu Ying a gentle push.

He knew she was certainly feeling awkward about it, so he had to send her away himself.

“I’ll come back shortly to report to the Shaman about the Central Market.” Yu Ying smiled and turned to run off.

“How cute.” Su Bai smiled warmly.

He sat down in his seat and began mentally summoning the System to check in, which he had nearly forgotten today.

Su Bai weighed the packet of sunflower seeds in his hand, murmuring to himself. “Reading books while cracking sunflower seeds? Not bad.”
