I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 693, Every Step Must Be Taken Cautiously

“Shaman, raising so many birds might require quite a lot of grain.” Sha Lan spoke up.

“It’s alright, they only eat vegetables and millet, plus some small insects and such, all of which are plentiful.”

Su Bai lifted his teacup and continued: “Wolf Tail Grass Grain, plus some seeds from other plants will do.”

The food used for raising birds was the simplest. It was not like raising Ferocious Beasts, which required large quantities of meat.

“I understand. I’ll send people to catch Pink Beak Silver Sparrows over the next two days.” Sha Lan nodded.

“Tell them to catch them with care and not injure them, otherwise there’s no way to keep them alive.” Su Bai instructed.

“Understood.” Sha Lan replied.

“How is the soldiers’ training going? They’ve trained several times now, haven’t they?” Su Bai continued asking.

“Yes, Shaman, today is the fourth training session. Today’s training will be somewhat more difficult.”

Sha Lan instinctively looked towards the window and continued. “I wonder if anyone will drop out after today’s training.”

“Those people were all carefully selected, weren’t they? And they all really want to become Warriors, don’t they? These people shouldn’t drop out so easily.” Su Bai was optimistic about them.

At the time, when Sha Lan mentioned it, these people had all been quite dejected when they did not become Warrior Trainees.

Now that they had been given another opportunity, they would naturally treasure it well and would not retreat because of a little hardship.

“Ah’Hua should be back later, she should know whether anyone has dropped out.” Sha Lan said.

“En, then let’s wait and see.” Su Bai nodded.

“Shaman, Long is still continuously improving the ship. I believe we’ll be able to see it soon.” Sha Lan consoled.

Because when they went to look at the ship a couple of days ago, they were told it would be ready to launch momentarily.

But after inspection, various problems were discovered, and urgent improvements were now underway.

Naturally, there had been some disappointment at the time, having originally thought they were about to see the ship launch.

“En, good things all need to be slowly refined. We’ll go and have a look together when the time comes.” Su Bai said calmly.

He had specifically instructed them to take their time. The ship had to be safe, otherwise shipwreck incidents could easily occur.

The key point was that the river had many wild beasts and Ferocious Beasts, so the ship also had to be built to be particularly sturdy.

“I’ve already had someone tell Long not to rush. The ship must be built steadily and securely.” Sha Lan immediately said.

“Well done. The Hunting Team should be returning soon too, shouldn’t they?” Su Bai asked.

“This afternoon or tomorrow morning they should arrive.” Sha Lan nodded.

“When they return this time, they won’t need to go out again. While we’re at it, have someone tally the quantity of prey they’ve brought back.” Su Bai instructed.

“Shaman, I know what to do, you can rest assured. But who should we arrange to deliver the food?” Sha Lan asked.

“Have Qing Yan go. Cang Shi needs to rest properly, and while we’re at it, have Qing Yan stay at the Sea Fish Tribe.” Su Bai pondered.

“Shaman, why have Uncle Qing Yan stay over there? We still have Warriors to train here.” Sha Lan was puzzled.

Su Bai took a sip of tea and explained. “Our Tribe already has many Warriors, and there are also many people to train them, there’s Sha Hong, Cang Shi and more. But the Sea Fish Tribe has no one.”

“Shaman, but the Sea Fish Tribe also does not have any Totem Warriors. There are only our few Warriors over there, with some of their Warrior Trainees.” Sha Lan tilted her head and continued asking. “I don’t know why Shaman wants Uncle Qing Yan to go over there?”

“I want to train a soldier squad over there too. This way, they can also protect the Sea Fish Tribe. It’s not sustainable for our people to be stationed there for the long-term.”

Su Bai put down his teacup and continued. “After they have the foundation of being soldiers, in next year’s Totem Awakening Ceremony, they should also be able to awaken more Warriors.”

“So that’s why, Shaman, you wish to give the Sea Fish Tribe a helping hand. It’s just that Shaman will also have to go to the Sea Fish Tribe next year to conduct the Totem Awakening Ceremony.” Sha Lan nodded thoughtfully.

“Holding the Totem Awakening Ceremony isn’t difficult. The difficulty lies only in the candidates. There might not be that many qualified people…” Su Bai said in a low voice.

He could already imagine that most of the qualified people would be from the Sea Insect Tribe, because after they invaded the Sea Fish Tribe, it was impossible for them to let the opposition’s stronger individuals continue living.

This would not be beneficial for their control over the Sea Fish Tribe, so naturally what remained were all weaklings.

“I think most of the qualified people will be from the Sea Insect Tribe by then. I’m very worried whether they might rebel.” Sha Lan worried.

“Let’s select first. After selection, we’ll see the results. They’re only soldiers anyway. They can’t defeat Totem Warriors, much less Warrior Trainees.” Su Bai said calmly.

“Yes, but Shaman, shouldn’t we send some Warriors to protect the Sea Fish Tribe?” Sha Lan asked.

Su Bai blinked his black eyes and pondered. “That’s true. I’ll carefully select the candidates. They can go to the Sea Fish Tribe together with Qing Yan when the time comes.”

Now he was managing two Tribes, not just Flame Dragon Tribe alone, so naturally there were more things to consider.

It could be said that every move now concerned the safety of two Tribes. He had to be more cautious.

“Shaman, if too many Warriors leave our Tribe, wouldn’t that be bad for our Tribe?” Sha Lan worried.

“The number of Warriors we’ve awakened now is decent. By next year, there will be even more awakened Warriors. Just sending out a few people won’t greatly impact our Tribe.”

Su Bai raised his head and continued. “The Sea Fish Tribe is a Tribe we’ve just gained. We can’t let it be snatched away by others again. Moreover, the seaside is also very important to us.”

Since ancient times, cities near the sea and rivers had all developed very well. Now that they had gained a Small Tribe, slowly developing it into something stronger was also an interesting endeavour.

“Sea Fish Tribe currently has five Warriors. How many more does Shaman want to send over?” Sha Lan asked curiously.

“I want to send another five Totem Warriors, plus ten Warrior Trainees. Protecting the Sea Fish Tribe should not be too difficult in the short term with that number.” Su Bai said.

Right now, the Flame Dragon Tribe was the focus, they could not transfer large numbers of Warriors away all at once.

“I understand. After selecting and training the soldiers, the pressure on the Warriors will also be lessened.” Sha Lan understood much more.

“After our soldiers here are trained into shape, our Tribe can deploy more Warriors over there, thereby consolidating Sea Fish Tribe’s position.” Su Bai continued.

Every step he took now was very careful, since he was afraid of overextending himself.

“Should we have them bring some weapons over? If they could have recurve bows and such, protecting the Sea Fish Tribe might not be so strenuous.” Sha Lan asked curiously.

“Of course, that is essential.” Su Bai nodded.
