I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 682, In the End, They All Belong to the Flame Dragon Tribe

“Shaman, it seems Co Co is fine.” Yu Ying breathed a sigh of relief.

Yu Ying had actually been quite worried these past few days, constantly fearing that something might go wrong. Fortunately, nothing had happened.

Who knew what those people from that Tribe might do? Seeing that the Tribe’s Warriors, Chieftain, and Shaman had all been dealt with, there was no telling if their group might decide to go down fighting together. If that were truly the case, wouldn’t Co Co really be in danger?

“Yeah, those people from the Sea Fish Tribe can be considered to be sensible. Otherwise, they would truly be rather difficult to manage.” Su Bai nodded.

“Sensible?” Yu Ying tilted her head and asked, “Shaman, what does sensible mean?”

“It means they understand the situation and simply go along with the general flow, without raising any objections.” Su Bai explained simply.

Yu Ying nodded thoughtfully and said, “It seems Co Co will be staying at the Sea Fish Tribe for quite a while. At the very least, she’ll have to wait until the Sea Fish Tribe stabilises! She was previously the Sea Fish Tribe Chieftain’s Daughter, so she needs to be the one who stabilises the transition.” Su Bai said indifferently.

“Shaman, but if she’s the Chieftain’s Daughter, why not let her become Chieftain?” Yu Ying asked in confusion.

Yu Ying could not understand this point. Generally, don’t Chieftains pass their position to their children when they have them?

“She doesn’t have that capability yet. For now, let Uncle Qiong Gu help with the management. When Co Co grows up, she can take back control if she wants to.” Su Bai said magnanimously.

Even if Co Co were given management of the Sea Fish Tribe, it would not matter. She was already a part of the Flame Dragon Tribe. Giving her management rights would still mean this was a Tribe under the Flame Dragon Tribe. This was an indisputable fact.

“That makes sense. Co Co is about the same age as us, so managing a Tribe would indeed be difficult.” Yu Ying’s soft voice responded.

“I hope she can study well, so that she can personally manage the Sea Fish Tribe in the future. That will be plenty enough to keep her busy.” Su Bai’s lips curved upward slightly.

His inner ambition was not limited to just the current two Tribes. It would be best if he could bring that row of Coastal Tribes under his control.

“Shaman, Co Co had not been able to do research lately. She must really miss the laboratory.” Yu Ying covered her mouth and laughed.

“Next time Shu Feng goes over, have someone bring things over to her. She’s probably going crazy thinking about tinkering with materials.” Su Bai smiled lightly.

Previously, when she was at the Tribe, she would stay inside researching all day, every day. Now suddenly going so many days without research, she must be somewhat unaccustomed to it.

Besides letting Co Co relieve her boredom, the most important thing was to let her continue researching. Perhaps she might discover something different?

“Of course.” Yu Ying nodded.

Su Bai took a sip of tea and lowered his head to prepare for the matter of creating compressed military rations. This was rather urgent.

Otherwise, when Tribe members travelled, it was always rather inconvenient. Although they could bring food along.

But was not this also a burden? Wouldn’t carrying such heavy things while travelling be tiring? Or hunting along the way. It would waste a lot of time and could very likely lead to encountering danger.

All sorts of dangers existed: traps set by other Tribes, threats from Ferocious Beasts, ambushes by other Tribes, and so on. Compressed military rations would be different. Small and convenient to carry, and most importantly, reduce risks.

“Shaman, what are you writing?” Yu Ying asked in confusion.

Yu Ying had been studying Chinese Characters for quite a long time, but there were still some she did not recognise.

Like those on the paper right now. She could only understand bits and pieces, with many unfamiliar characters.

“I’m writing down materials for making compressed military rations, as well as the manufacturing method.” Su Bai said indifferently.

Knowledge related to this area kept surfacing in his mind. He remembered seeing it in novels before.

But now he could not quite remember it clearly all at once.

“Compressed military rations? Shaman, what is that?” Yu Ying heard yet another new term.

“Something for Warriors and soldiers to eat.” Su Bai continued writing with his head down.

For a moment, memories surged forth like a spring. He had to record them quickly.

“Something for Warriors and soldiers to eat? Shaman, is it different from what we eat?” Yu Ying asked curiously.

“Somewhat different. It definitely won’t taste as good as what we eat now, but it’s very filling.” Su Bai looked up.

Compressed military rations were very popular on Earth in early times, mostly consisting of some dehydrated rice, dehydrated noodles, and various preserves.

Of course, in this Primitive Era, wanting to directly dehydrate rice or noodles was quite difficult. Making preserves was equally difficult to achieve, because creating truly sealed conditions was very hard, not to mention sealed containers.

Due to technical issues, many types of compressed military rations were directly ruled out.

Su Bai therefore had to think of other compressed military ration manufacturing methods, with the key being that they had to be compatible with current Primitive Era technology.

“Shaman, if the taste isn’t as good as what we eat now, why make them?” Yu Ying asked innocently.

“Compressed military rations are very convenient to carry. They don’t need to bring lots of food like we do now when going out.” Su Bai explained simply.

Saying too much to Yu Ying right now would not be understood anyway. She would naturally understand once the compressed military rations were made.

“I see. But how are compressed military rations made?” Yu Ying was very curious.

She wondered how food that was filling yet convenient to carry could be made. Would it be like the preserved meat made previously?

“I’m thinking about it. It would be good if we could dry the food or get it into a dehydrated state.” Su Bai pursed his lips.

As long as those foods were dehydrated, their volume would become much smaller, making them more convenient to carry. Warriors could take them to the Wilderness and simply make a fire, then put these dehydrated foods into water to boil.

“Dehydrated?” Yu Ying did not understand this term.

“It’s equivalent to drying food until it’s completely dry, then finally putting it in water to cook, and it will slowly expand.” Su Bai explained.

Explaining to this point, he suddenly thought of instant noodles. [Can they be made in the Primitive Era?]

“Shaman, if there’s anything you need me to help with, just let me do it.” Yu Ying immediately said.

Yu Ying knew she did not understand many things, so at times like this, there was no need to add to the confusion by asking questions.

She should just see if there was anything to help with and assist accordingly.

“Alright, go and attend to your tasks for now.” Su Bai said gently.

He also knew Yu Ying had good intentions in wanting to help, but the plan hadn’t been formulated yet.

“Yes.” Yu Ying swished her pink fox tail and left.

Su Bai waved the quill pen in his hand and murmured to himself, “Instant noodles could indeed be arranged.”
