Chapter 281: Winter Disaster ( 4 )

Physician Yu picked up one of the roots and took a sniff. After a moment, he looked at her and asked, ”Yao-shi, may I ask where you got these ginseng roots?”

Hearing this, Yao Zhi feigned surprise and asked him back, ”Physician Yu, are you saying that these are ginseng roots?”

The old man nodded and continued, ”The quality of these roots is very good. They are also thoroughly dried and well preserved. Judging from the size of these roots, the main root should be around 2,000 years old.”

Yao Zhi’s eyes flashed with genuine surprise. She was using these roots to test Physician Yu’s skill and knowledge. She couldn’t risk the safety of the medicine given to her husband.

She thought that he would recognize the roots but wouldn’t be able to guess the age. Unexpectedly, he could estimate the age correctly.

Before, she had placed one ginseng into the auction slot just to check its age. These roots were taken from a 2,178-year-old ginseng growing in her system’s grassland.

”These are part of my dowry. My mother prepared them for me before her passing,” she lied without blinking.

When he heard this, Physician Yu nodded and thought that this must be the family heirloom. He returned the ginseng roots to her and asked, ”Yao-shi, are you coming to ask about this?”

Yao Zhi shook her head and replied, ”Besides asking you to help me verify this, I want to ask for a prescription for a cold and fever.”

Physician Yu raised his eyebrows and said, ”I can’t give you a prescription without taking your pulse.”

”Physician Yu, actually, I heard about the winter disaster that had struck the villages around the river area. I want to gather some medicinal herbs and send them over. So, I want the prescription to know what type of herbs are commonly used for curing fever and cold.”

Hearing her explanation, Physician Yu was taken aback. But thinking about all the things she did for the villagers, he didn’t find it strange.

He caressed his beard for a while before he said, ”I can’t give you a specific prescription, but I can give you a list of commonly used herbs.”

Yao Zhi’s eyes lit up when she heard this. She nodded and said, ”Thank you, Physician Yu.”

”As a physician, it’s my duty to help others. Since Yao-shi has this intention, it’s only right for me to help,” he replied with a smile.

After he said this, Physician Yu stood up and went to his room. 10 minutes later, he returned holding a piece of yellow paper. As he handed it to her, he said, ”Several herbs listed are very rare and might not be available in the pharmacy.”

Yao Zhi accepted the paper and read the list. Most of the herbs were commonly used even in modern times. But some herbs, she had never heard of.

”I will do my best to collect them. Thank you for your help, Physician Yu.”

”This is what I should do.”

Since she had asked for his help, Yao Zhi gave him a piece of the ginseng root’s tip. The size of the root was no more than 3 centimeters, but the old man treated it like a treasure.

He thanked her several times and even saw her off.

After Yao Zhi and Ling Shi’er returned home, she went to her room and opened the system’s shop. Fortunately, the system had a search feature. She input the names of the herbs, and soon after, the products appeared on the screen.

Since she didn’t know how good these herbs were, she only bought a small pack as a sample. She planned to ask the pharmacy in the town about the quality of these herbs.

There were a total of 37 common herbs and 9 rare herbs. Out of the 9 rare herbs, 7 were available in the system’s shop. Although the price was higher than the common herbs, it was still under her budget.

As for the last 2 herbs, both were herbs that had become extinct in the modern era. Since the system’s shop mostly sold items from her previous world, she could only check on the auction platform.

After she input the names of the herbs, there were 11 users auctioning the herbs. At first, she thought that the herbs would be very expensive. Unexpectedly, the price was not much different from the prices sold in the system’s shop.

She read the auction rules and placed her bid. The average price for the auction was 5,000 points per 500 grams of the herbs. To avoid having to check the price over and over again, she just inputs 10,000 points per 500 grams.

Afterward, she checked another rare herb. Unlike the previous one, there was only one user selling this herb. But the one being sold was not the processed herb. Instead, it was a whole plant.

She checked the price and was surprised to see that the price had reached 297,500 points.

Yao Zhi thought for a moment and input her price. Since the entire platform only had this one plant, she wouldn’t risk it.

After she bid for the plant at 500,000 points, she saw that her notification bell was blinking rapidly. Feeling curious, she tapped on the icon, and another blue screen popped up in front of her.

On the blue screen was a direct message from the owner of the plant.

”Fellow Daoist, do you need more of this plant? I still have 17 more in my garden. If you are willing to pay 600,000 points for each, I will sell all to you.”

When she read the message, Yao Zhi rubbed her chin. The seller called her Fellow Daoist, so the other party must be a cultivator. Could it be that the plant she bid on was actually a spiritual herb and not a normal herbs?

Reaching this conclusion, she realized that might be the reason why the price was so high.
