Chapter 251: Reusable Gel Warmer ( 3 )

When she heard Xue Ya’er’s words, Yao Zhi smiled and said, ”Madam, to use this, you need to snap the little iron plate inside. It’s like this.”

With a snap, she clicked the small steel plate inside the gel. The next moment, the gel started to crystallize and warm up.

This time, not only Xue Ya’er, but even Lu Qianxuan and the servants were amazed by the gel warmer.

After the pad crystallized, Yao Zhi squeezed it to make it soften and said, ”This hand warmer is hot after we snap the iron plate, so it’s better to wrap it with a towel before using it.”

Hearing this, Chun Hua used two handkerchiefs to wrap the gel warmer before she handed it to her mistress.

Holding the gel warmer, Xue Ya’er said, ”It’s really warm.”

”This hand warmer can stay warm for 20 to 45 minutes. After the hand warmer cools down and becomes hard, it only needs to be soaked in boiling water for 5 to 10 minutes until the gel turns clear, then it can be used again.”

”Where did you get this thing?” Lu Qianxuan suddenly asked.

Yao Zhi had already prepared the answer and said, ”My family bought it from overseas.”

”How many of these items does your family have?”

When she heard his words, Yao Zhi noticed that he might have another intention in asking about this and asked him back, ”General, do you want to buy this hand warmer?”

Lu Qianxuan was not someone who prioritized his face when it came to important matters. He nodded and said, ”This hand warmer is easy to carry and use. If the soldiers can have it, they don’t have to worry about getting frostbite.”

Yao Zhi considered the pros and cons for a while before she said, ”General, the price of this hand warmer is not cheap. The number of soldiers in the White Tiger Army is more than 250,000. Are you sure you want to equip the soldiers with this hand warmer?”

When he heard this, Lu Qianxuan hesitated and asked, ”How much is the price?”

Raising her forefinger, she said, ”10 taels of silver each.”

”So expensive?”

Lu Qianxuan was poor, and he felt the price was too high. Even if he wanted to improve the soldiers’ conditions, with his current strength, it was impossible.

Yao Zhi noticed that the General’s smile had stiffened.

She actually didn’t mean to sell the gel warmers at that price. She only wanted to let this male lead know that, without his wife supporting him from behind the scenes, it would have been impossible for him to reach his current position.

Therefore, before he thought of siding with the female lead, he should think twice about the consequences of losing his wife’s support.

Xue Ya’er glanced at her husband and understood his concerns. She thought for a moment and asked, ”Young Master Lei, is there no way to lower the price?”

When she heard this, Yao Zhi smiled and said, ”Since Madam already speaks, of course I have to lower the price.” She raised two of her fingers and said, ”As a friend, Madam only needs to pay me 2 taels of silver each.”

The moment she said this, Lu Qianxuan asked in disbelief, ”Young Master Lei, why does the price differ so much? Are you trying to take advantage of me and increase the price?”

Yao Zhi frowned and replied unhappily, ”General, even though I’m a merchant, I always conduct my business with honesty and integrity.”

”Not to mention the investment my family had to make to send a fleet of ships to sea, the foreigners only accept gold. Added to the risk of ships sinking due to bad weather or being robbed by sea pirates, 10 taels of silver is already the lowest price.”

After hearing her explanation, Lu Qianxuan realized that what she said was reasonable. ”If that’s the lowest price, then why did you lower the price so much?”

Yao Zhi let out a chuckle and said, ”I already told Madam before that my family wants a peaceful era to ensure the continuation of my family’s wealth and glory.”

”Just now, the General asked me how much the gel warmer’s price was. So I told you the price. But then Madam asked if I could lower the price. Since it’s for the soldiers, of course, I will lower the price.”

”You mean that if I ask you to lower the price, you will lower it too?” Lu Qianxuan asked skeptically.

”Since it’s for the Army, I will definitely lower the price. The price difference will be covered by me,” Yao Zhi said and took a sip of her tea.

Xue Ya’er calculated for a moment and said, ”Young Master Lei, the difference is too much. I can’t let you bear all the losses.”

”Madam, please don’t refuse. Just take it as my appreciation for the soldiers’ sacrifice, loyalty, bravery, and hard work. As the citizens protected by them, this is the least I could do for them.”

Meeting her firm gaze, Xue Ya’er finally relented. Standing up, she curtsied to her and said, ”On behalf of the soldiers, I thank you, Young Master Lei.”

Yao Zhi didn’t avoid the curtsy and returned it with a bow. ”Madam, you are too polite.”

Lu Qianxuan watched them finalize the deal in just a few sentences and felt how amazing his wife was.

”Young Master Lei, we need a total of 300,000 gel warmers. When can you deliver the goods?” Xue Ya’er asked.

”I will let my people send the goods over tomorrow,” Yao Zhi said.

Xue Ya’er nodded and glanced at her personal maid. Meeting her gaze, Dong Mei went to fetch a set of writing tools, while Chun Hua went to inform Steward Han.

Soon after, Dong Mei returned, and Xue Ya’er wrote the agreement letter. When she was done, she showed it to Yao Zhi.

”Young Master Lei, this is the agreement letter for our cooperation on selling the dried mushrooms, preserved eggs, and pelts. Please have a look. If there is anything you want to change or add, feel free to speak.”
