Chapter 275: Fair Trade ( 2 )

The reason why the government didn’t behead Ling Shiqi despite his criminal record was to avoid the Blood Moon Pavilion from seeking revenge. As long as he was alive, the matter was between him and the organization.

Out of all the guards Yao Zhi bought, he had the best lightness skill, speed, and stamina. With one leap, he could cover a distance of 50 meters. In the entire Jianghu, he was at the top when it came to lightness skill.

When he was captured by the government, it was due to being severely injured by his own comrade. The internal conflict of the organization was no less than a court struggle; instead, it was more ruthless and cruel.

In just 20 minutes, Ling Shiqi had reached Yang Village. Following the address given by Ling Yi, he went in the direction of Yao Zhi’s house.

From a distance, he saw Ling Shi’er and heaved a sigh of relief. Fortunately, he didn’t get lost this time. He didn’t bother to knock and leaped over the fence directly.

The moment he landed, he felt a murderous intent aimed at him. His body moved before his mind could react. His hand blocked the incoming attack, and with a spin, he sent a kick toward the attacker.

His kick was blocked, and his leg was caught. Before he could send another attack, he heard his master’s voice.

”Stop!”

The moment he received the order, he stopped his attack instantly. Due to this, he was kicked in the chest and was sent flying a few meters.

Feeling the blood rushing to his throat, he swallowed it forcefully. His face turned pale.

Yao Zhi was shocked to see Ling Shi’er fighting against Ling Shiqi when she walked to the backyard. Seeing the young man being kicked away, she dropped the bamboo basket in her hand and rushed over to check on his condition.

Seeing how pale his face was, she untied a small gourd on her waist and fed him the water. After saving the unknown man in the mountain, she kept a gourd filled with water mixed with spiritual spring water with her, just in case.

After drinking the water, Ling Shiqi’s complexion improved.

”Shiqi, are you okay?” she asked while helping him up.

He nodded and replied hoarsely, ”Master, I’m fine.”

Ling Shi’er frowned and muttered, ”You are too weak.”

Hearing this, Yao Zhi frowned and turned to Ling Shi’er. ”Shi’er, how can you say that? Shiqi is your brother. Neither of you should fight against the other like this. You even injured him.”

Being reprimanded by his master, Ling Shi’er lowered his gaze and said, ”Master, I was wrong.”

Seeing how fast he admitted to his mistake, Yao Zhi was speechless. Letting out a sigh, she added, ”I don’t want to see this happen again.”

”Understood,” both Ling Shi’er and Ling Shiqi replied in unison.

Yao Zhi shook her head and asked, ”Shiqi, what brought you here?”

”Master, I came to deliver a message from Ling Yi,” Ling Shiqi said as he took out the bamboo tube.

Yao Zhi read the letter and said, ”What did Lu Qianxuan want from Lei Feng?”

Ling Shiqi thought for a moment and added, ”Master, when General Lu visited the store, Xi Er opened the door. She seemed to have a hidden intention toward him. When Ling Yi sent her to the kitchen, she glared at him resentfully.”

When she heard this, Yao Zhi frowned. Xi Er and Xi San didn’t take the Clear Heart Pill, and their loyalty was questionable. Without the master-servant blood contract, she couldn’t be sure that they wouldn’t cause trouble in the future.

After she considered the pros and cons, she said, ”She can’t be kept.”

The moment he heard this, Ling Shiqi’s eyes lit up, and he asked, ”Master, I am good at handling this matter. Should I take care of her?”

Yao Zhi was taken aback when she saw him making a gesture of slicing his throat. She shook her head and said, ”No killing. She didn’t do anything deserving of her death. I will sell her.”

Ling Shiqi let out a soft ”oh,” with clear disappointment in his tone.

Noticing this, Yao Zhi patted his arm and asked, ”Have you eaten?”

He nodded and replied, ”Master, I have eaten this morning.”

Looking at him, she said, ”Stay for a meal first before you go back.”

It was almost dinner time, and he had only eaten breakfast. He was just a 17-year-old boy. He was at a period where his body was growing.

Thinking about this, she added, ”Your body is still growing. You shouldn’t skip your meal and must eat properly.”

”Master, I understood!”

With another person joining their meal, Yao Zhi added two more meat dishes. She added Dongpo Rou and Beggar’s Chicken.

They had dinner when the sun set on the western horizon. After eating, Yao Zhi said, ”Shiqi, just stay with Shi’er tonight and go back tomorrow.”

”Yes, Master.”

Although Ling Shi’er was unhappy, he only let out a snort and let him sleep with him that night.

In the middle of the night, a group of people with black scarves covering their faces, leaving only a pair of eyes visible, appeared. Each of them carried something on their backs as they scaled the walls.

When they reached the outskirts of Zhu’an town, they put down the sacks on their backs and threw the things inside to the ground. They placed the bodies in several places before they lit up the dry hay near the wall.

There were a total of 25 corpses inside the abandoned building. Since the house was made of wood and was dilapidated, the moment the wind picked up, the fire ignited and spread fast.

The group watched from a distance as the fire engulfed everything for several hours. Only when they were sure that the bodies inside had been burned beyond recognition did they leave the area.

Early in the morning, before dawn, the news about the abandoned house outside Zhu’an Town catching fire spread widely. In winter, it was rare for fire accidents. So, lots of people were suspicious about the source of the fire.
