Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 842: Chapter 841: The Blessings of Overtime Workers

Caesar’s artificial fruit is quite special, its raw material is a special substance called SAD, which incorporates the blood of different animals, resulting in an unknown type of SMILE, and no one knows what kind of ability can be obtained after eating it.

To be precise, generally speaking, even the creator Caesar doesn’t know if this fruit can grant any ability when eaten. In the early MADS, there were no moral requirements, one could join as long as they had the ability.

Queen is still under someone else’s control, and experiments must consider consequences, but Caesar is different, he has no bottom line, he doesn’t care about the consequences of eating it as he is not the one eating it himself.

Arceus can’t determine the type, but he can ensure that eating this thing won’t turn you into some grotesque creature.

”Shaina, find two random people, there’s some new stuff to try out.”

”No special requirements?”

”Weaker ones, the kind that are clearly unrelated to Divine Favorer.”

”Yes, understood, please wait a moment.”

This requirement is not difficult; today’s Four Emperors all have their own Great Ship Group, aside from the elite officers, there are also quite a few rank-and-file soldiers, the ones stationed in Wano Kuni are relatively elite, and these people are just right for artificial Devil Fruit.

It was bought with true silver and cannot be wasted lightly.

...

Meanwhile, outside Ghost Island, two pirates were leaning against the gate out of boredom.

Ghost Island had long since spread the Rotom electronic gates, and the usual guard duties were completed by Rotom, yet the gatekeeper position has never been canceled.

Pirates as a group are not suited to idleness, those like Mandfeish who quietly go about their days are rare, to keep these pirates occupied, many positions are double-staffed with Pokemon and pirates.

”Ah, Lord Kaidou is out again, guess who’s the unlucky one this time?”

”Who knows, I guess it’s those useless Navy guys, but where are the people for the shift? It’s been so long.”

”Cut them some slack, they had a drinking feast last night, they asked us to take a longer shift.”

”They said a little while, but now it’s almost a day, tomorrow we should make them make up for this...”

They are pirates after all, not like the members of the Monastery’s Knight Order standing like pillars, shift switches happen regularly, as long as someone holds the post, it’s no issue.

”You two, come with me inside.”

”Yes, Lady Shaina!”

The two exchanged glances. Although they didn’t know why, it was always right to listen to the officer, so they followed Shaina through several metal doors up to a floor they usually had no access to.

”Holy Beast Lord, the people have been brought.”

After bringing the two into the room, Shaina stepped aside, giving them the space.

”L-Lord Arceus?! What do you need us to do?”

”Yes, what can we do?”

Although they were stationed on Ghost Island, such opportunities to have contact with captain-level figures were rare, let alone being specifically called.

”An opportunity, these are two special Devil Fruits.”

Doflamingo sent a total of 20 sample Fruits. In Arceus’s eyes, only two could be completed, resulting in a one-tenth success rate.

”Their abilities are unknown, but they are surely some type of Zoan. Now, we need to see the effect after eating them, are you two willing to try?”

Seeing the two weird-looking apples floating in front of them, the two didn’t hesitate and grabbed the fruits, biting into them without a second thought.

Clearly, this was an experiment, but it was also an opportunity. Arceus had found them, if they rejected out of cowardice now, nothing major might happen, but encountering such a chance in the future would be impossible.

When they took the path of piracy, they knew they would encounter such situations in the future. No matter how strange the power given, they were willing to give it a try.

Caesar’s Devil Fruit has the only advantage of not being too hard to eat; according to the original timeline, Orochi distributed defective fruits to the villagers of Waste Recovery Village. If these fruits tasted as bad, they would not have eaten them.

The two fruits soon disappeared, and the two did not grow any bizarre organs nor become laugh-only freaks.

They just hadn’t mastered that power after eating the fruits.

”Lord Arceus, now...”

”Familiarize yourself with the power and transform, this won’t take long.”

They began to feel the power within their bodies. They might not have eaten pork, but they had seen pigs run; they had heard about the transformations of the numerous Zoan-type ability users within the Hundred Beasts.

In a few minutes, their bodies began to swell, one person’s skin became dark, his back clothing ripped apart, and rows of black and white spines emerged. With this fruit, he gained the power of a porcupine.

The other grew black feathers all over his body, his arms transformed into wings, seemingly gaining the power of a crow.

Apart from Alabasta’s Falcon Pell and Arceus’s modified fruit, other bird fruits transform the arms into wings, and Caesar’s creations followed this principle.

They then switched to beast form, possessing the standard three-stage transformation of Zoans.

”Porcupine and Crow, not bad, you’re free to go back to your duties now.”

After confirming no issues with the fruit, the two returned to their posts. They themselves didn’t understand why, after covering for someone else’s shift, they obtained fruit abilities.

...

”Covering a shift can get you this kind of benefit?”

”I didn’t know, seems like working extra hours might be the right move, Brother Mandfeish might be right, effort always pays off...”

The two discussed where to go celebrate with a drink in the evening, when two others, arms over shoulders, walked over.

”Harper, Rory, what’s the good news with you two?”

These two had been slacking off, having played around in Hakumai before showing up for the shift, expecting to be nagged, but the two of them were happy, deep in conversation.

”What’s up with your clothes? Why are the back and sleeves ripped?”

”Hahaha, you two idiots have no idea what you missed.”

So saying, the two transformed again; Harper fiddled with his wings, while Rory studied the spines on his back to see what they could do.

”Ability users??”

”Weren’t you just ordinary people last night?”

”Yes, but during the time you were slacking, we gained brand new powers.

Not long ago, it seems Lord Arceus and Lord Kaidou managed to find something nice again. If you had shown up on time, these abilities would’ve been yours?”
