Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 803: Chapter 802: This Pirate Is Different

”Wind can also extinguish fire.”

In Logia-type battles, aside from Haki and Seastone, another restrictive method exists—the counteraction of elemental attributes. Enel’s lightning can’t hit some rubber man, Crocodile’s sand fears water, and flame can be pierced by magma.

Iscariot’s Wind Blade can also harm the body of flame; wind can fuel fire, but it can extinguish flames too. When the wind is strong enough, the flame can be directly blown out.

The Scizor, moving at high speed, generates internal heat, and its insect wings are powerful cooling fans. Iscariot now uses this ability, compressing the wind through the gaps in the carapace to form the Wind Blade that can harm the flame’s body.

This method speeds up her cooling process, extending the duration of battle.

Even if her attack lacks Haki, it can still injure Ace’s body.

The rapidly flowing air blade approaches Ace’s neck, leaving a scarlet streak there.

”Rookies nowadays are increasingly troublesome every year. I advise you to surrender; although Rami’s poison can be cured, if time drags on, there will be side effects.”

Whether it’s lethal toxins or anesthetics, they are microorganisms within Rami’s body, forming a delicate balance under her control.

But upon entering the enemy’s body, no problem arises initially. Over time, a new variant may emerge, and even Rami doesn’t know.

But, of course, this time span is still quite long, barely an hour has passed, so Iscariot’s words are more of a bluff.

Though Hundred Beasts lack Logia-type users, large-scale elemental attacks have been frequent in past training.

Everyone on the Sea has different fighting styles, but they generally fall into several broad categories. At Hundred Beasts, whether it’s body techniques or elements, they have top-ranked experts. These newcomers have gone through substantial training.

Fire Fist Ace is famous for his Fire Fist, yet he’s never used it, and his shown prowess differs from other Logia-type abilities, as if something is restraining him.

Just then, a string of cannon fire sounds; the surrounding Navy starts attacking them.

The Navy catching pirates is typical, but the reason for these Navy’s presence here is somewhat unusual.

Even when landing in illicit zones, news of pirates landing on the Shampodi Islands isn’t hidden from the local garrison, though initially, they took no action.

Since the Great Pirate Era began, Shampodi’s garrison mission gradually shifted from safeguarding the island to protecting the World Government and World Nobility, even spawning the illicit zone as a buffer.

The Shampodi Islands lie under Marinfanto’s nose, where an Admiral can quickly arrive. If they cleared this place, Shampodi would be like the G-1 Branch instead of this chaotic state.

But World Government policies led to this current situation.

Pirates passing through, as long as they cause no major disturbances, had the Navy on Shampodi effectively turning a blind eye.

They rushed here now because of the slum gangs.

Iscariot’s people showed no mercy towards them; these people bullied the weak but feared the strong, reporting to the Navy instead of acting.

Normally, Shampodi’s Navy wouldn’t mobilize due to such matters; at least the current commanding officers wouldn’t choose so. As long as World Government Nobles were unharmed, they consistently let pirates exist within the illicit zones.

Yet their promotions required military merit, and no way was better for the Navy to accrue merit than catching pirates. Rather than direct conflict, they preferred benefiting after pirates clashed among themselves.

As long as they capture pirates, no one cares how, it’s considered an effortlessly achieved merit.

Even with external assistance, the upper ranks would emphasize the Navy’s achievement.

Thus, upon hearing about a clash between Hundred Beasts’ squad and this year’s Super Rookies, they wasted no time surrounding the area.

Whether it’s mutual injury or a one-sided triumph, for them, it’s an opportunity.

Engaging Sea Emperor’s subordinates isn’t easy, but it doesn’t mean the Navy is entirely timid. If they get a chance, they’ll choose to arrest, and the resultant issues aren’t their concern.

Even if a larger conflict ensues, that’s the upper management’s problem; they continue to receive tangible military merits.

But this time, the Navy’s leader was somewhat hasty. Seeing both parties equally matched, he wanted to capture them all—be it the Super Rookie or the Hundred Beasts members, either would be considered an exceptional achievement for him, perhaps even earning a transfer away from this dreadful location.

The Navy has benevolent members concerned about civilians, but this officer clearly isn’t among them. With the slum not worrying him about affecting nobility, he directly ordered cannon fire.

...

The widespread cannon fire affected not only Iscariot and Ace but also Iscariot’s subordinates, the children they led away, and those who originally lived here.

”Fire Fist!”

After completely transforming into flame and flashing aside, Ace’s arm also transforms into flame, extending toward the distance, the massive flaming fist streaking across the sky, intercepting the Navy’s fired shells mid-air.

Under the flame’s impact and scorching, the shells are detonated in the sky, sparing the ordinary people below from harm.

”I say, we are all pirates, let’s temporarily ceasefire and deal with these Navy first, shall we?”

”You’re quite daring.”

The minimal requirement for New World pirates’ officers is mastering Haki; though Supreme King is talent-based, Armament and Observation Haki can be trained to be quite proficient.

Facing opponents without Haki, they can seemingly predict the future. Ace’s Fire Fist lies within Iscariot’s perception range, and because she sensed its attack direction, she didn’t stop him.

When she told him he was daring, it was because of this. Ace currently doesn’t have Observation Haki, and upon choosing to thwart the shells, he abandoned defense.

Even if he fully transformed into flame, she could grasp his physical form just now. Without Armament Haki, her Wind Blade also could significantly harm his body.

Naturally, she heard the cannonade but didn’t care, as those following her are also New World’s elite—not overly strong, but possessing basic Haki knowledge, they’re capable of slicing or kicking away shells without issue, so she remained focused.

Unexpectedly, Ace acted first.

Considering this, this pirate seems somewhat different.
