Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 695: Chapter 694: Kaidou’s Resupply Methods

Listening to Arceus’s words, Yamato thought of some terrifying images, or rather memories, since three-quarters of her 20 years of life have been marred by Kaidou’s beatings.

With Kaidou’s personality, it’s impossible to change his views; only force might change his mind.

As for Zekrom and Reshiram... she tried hard, but the progress was limited; you could say there was a tiny bit of success. Now, Zekrom sometimes listens to her chatter and even responds occasionally, unlike before, when he was completely indifferent.

Reshiram still maintains his original demeanor; she doesn’t think there’s anything easy about dealing with these two.

No need to ask Yamato; Arceus had already received some feedback from Zekrom and Reshiram. Zekrom was alright; Reshiram’s assessment of Yamato was absolute naivety, having no idea what reality truly was.

”Yamato, maybe it’s time for you to experience more of the real world.”

”Reality?”

”Take Speed and the others, go out to sea alone once, for half a month. Go wherever you want.”

Half a month translates to a week’s journey each way. The time isn’t too ample, but it’s acceptable. If the ship is fast enough, this timeframe is enough to travel from the Hundred Beasts’ territory to BIG MOM’s domain.

”What’s the point of this?”

”Of course there is. This time, unlike before, it’s your genuinely ’solo’ journey. We won’t provide you with any logistical support.”

At this time, Yamato didn’t understand what this truly meant until the moment of departure when she realized what it was all about.

”Where’s my ship? Why has it turned into this wooden boat?”

Before her wasn’t her exclusive ride but an ordinary small sea vessel from Wano Kuni. Without proper navigation skills, it’s uncertain if it could even sail out of Wano Kuni.

”Lady Ghost Princess, this is the instruction from Lord Arceus. Your ship was also built using the resources and technology of the Hundred Beasts, and it’s part of the logistical support. Besides freshwater, this ship has no other supplies...”

Yamato was different from ordinary people since birth. Kaidou’s mindset made her childhood unhappy, even with Arceus in the picture. This variable only resulted in mixed feelings.

But materially, she was never lacking. From the day she was born, Chansey and Miltank were by her side. Everything she ate or used was top-tier material. Even as she grew up, the equipment used during her outings remained the same.

The Hundred Beasts’ logistics catered to her needs, paired with her ship’s advanced technology and her own abilities, her sea voyages resembled outings.

Therefore, she never truly experienced the ”reality” of the sea. With her skills, she could avoid most troubles, but without external resources, she could better appreciate this world.

If she couldn’t operate the ship alone, she might indeed be experiencing a solo journey.

Ever since Speed and the others were assigned under Yamato, they’ve acted as her subordinates. Based on their different interests, the three of them began learning different skills: Speed took up the role of navigator, Mizerka as a chef, and Sorlithia as a helmsman, just enough to operate most ships.

As for Yamato herself, aside from being a captain, she could handle all tasks requiring strength and combat prowess.

If it were her own ship, there would be many Pokemon to help her, but now, all of that was gone.

While she set sail, the Origin was also prepared for a new journey. Compared to the grand Origin, this little ship seemed a bit rickety.

...

”What year is this antique ship from!”

Running her hands along the rail, she looked at the dust-covered hands and started doubting whether this ship could still sail.

”Lady Ghost Princess, Lord Arceus mentioned that this was the ship they used at the beginning of their voyage. It doesn’t have much intrinsic value but is very significant... If you were to break it...”

”What will happen? Just say it directly; what’s there to be afraid of?”

”Well... Lord Arceus means... if it breaks, then, for the next year, whatever Governor Kaidou does, he won’t intervene.”

Clap, clap.

Yamato patted her own face to perk herself up.

”Alright! The first goal of this voyage, no matter what, is to protect this ship!”

With interference, Kaidou’s actions seemed crazy; with no one to manage him for a year... she couldn’t even imagine how terrifying that would be.

From the moment of departure, she closely watched for anything that might threaten the ship. If not for Arceus having already instructed the Magikarp and Gyarados outside, she would’ve asked them to help pull the boat since the ocean currents outside Wano Kuni were extremely dangerous.

In the end, she chose to freeze a relatively safe path with Muji Hyoga’s help, slowly heading out to the open world.

...

About a week after Arceus and Yamato left Wano Kuni, Kaidou received new intelligence from his subordinates, indicating that both had left Wano Kuni. The one staying behind to make decisive judgments was, of course, Kaidou.

”Big Brother Kaidou, this is this year’s expenditure. For various reasons, this year, precious lumber has become exceptionally sought after. Various factions are collecting high-quality wood from outside, and our ships have suffered some severe losses. This year’s replenishment might need to be delayed..”

”Jack, have you been infected by Yamato?”

Listening to Jack’s report, he impatiently scratched his head.

”Ah, Big Brother Kaidou, your meaning is...”

”We are pirates! If someone has something, we take it from them, simple as that. Why queue up obediently?

Let me think... last time I passed by Stanting Kingdom, I saw they had a pretty decent fleet. Go and seize 10 ships from there for replenishment.”

Kaidou briefly recalled the fleet he saw before; those large warships were just right to replenish the current losses of the Hundred Beasts.

”10 ships... Big Brother Kaidou, aren’t we taking them all?”

”Take them all? For what, to gather dust? 10 ships are enough for our current manpower. If we take them all at once, what if that kingdom weakens for good afterward?

Just seize part of them, let them replenish on their own. This way, when we’re short of ships again, we can go find them. That’s called... right, sustainable development. Arceus mentioned that; it should mean this.”

”I understand. I’ll set off immediately...”

”Wait, take Tyranitar and Emboar with you. Let’s see how well these two big guys coordinate.”

Under Kaidou’s orders, Jack set out on this mission with the two giant beasts. Emboar had already been tested, but for Tyranitar, it was the first. What kind of teamwork these two beasts would achieve was still a mystery.
