Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 685: Chapter 684: Kaidou’s New Breakthrough – Gentle Mode

Before her sore muscles could recover, Yamato, who was slumped on the ground, used all her limbs to roll herself behind Arceus. This was the safest place she knew, and the only place to handle a rampaging Kaidou.

Just a few minutes earlier, when Arceus had just entered Ghost Island, he sensed something was off up above. At first, he didn’t take it seriously as this was quite a usual occurrence on Ghost Island.

The training ground on the top floor often erupted in such battles. A small earthquake in Ghost Island was as common as wind and rain, just a ”normal” man-made natural phenomenon.

But this time it was obviously over the top. Humans classify earthquakes into levels based on their destructive power. Low-level earthquakes are ignorable; the buildings are designed to withstand such events.

Initially, it was just a minor commotion. The violent personality of Kaidou was considered when constructing Ghost Island, and daring to build a training ground on the rooftop meant the structure was quite resistant.

However, as time went by, the magnitude of the earthquake noticeably increased, and the pirates staying on Ghost Island realized something was wrong and ran outside to take shelter.

Among them were many people wrapped in towels who had just run out of the bath. They could all guess the source of such anomaly, and precisely for this reason, dared not stay here any longer.

And the closer Arceus got upward, the stronger the tremors became until just now, when Yamato suddenly crashed through the floor in front of him.

Looking at the rebar above, broken due to brute force, Arceus felt quite troubled. During the reconstruction of Ghost Island, a large amount of Arceus Steel was incorporated into the architecture as building material.

Only these fantasy metals could meet the increasingly complex construction demands and withstand their destruction, yet now even the special alloy he created was twisted apart.

”What exactly did you do?”

”I didn’t do anything, just hand-cooked something for him, and who knew he’d go berserk like that.”

Recalling the previously empty spot of Blisseys, Arceus seemed to understand what Kaidou had eaten. At that moment, another tremor came from beneath, and Kaidou leaped down from above.

The two stripes of his mustache floated back with the surrounding airflow, and Kaidou’s face was full of anger. He was already in the third stage after drinking - Drunken Rage.

”Why are you taking it head-on like this! If you changed your approach, the floor wouldn’t have broken!”

The fundamental reason for the floor breaking was, of course, Kaidou’s strength. However, if looked into closely, it could be seen as a side effect of Yamato’s plan, but in Kaidou’s view, it was just a sign of ”inadequate skills.”

She could have used Defend Barrier more flexibly, deploying the barrier beneath her feet while taking his attack to protect the floor.

Yes, not to protect herself but to protect the floor. In his view, Yamato wouldn’t die from a hit and would be fine after a while, but repairing the floor would take time and effort.

As for whether Yamato could practice Protect to that level, that wasn’t his concern.

”Foster father, see! That crazy father thinks the floor is more important than me. He must be insane, quickly beat him to his senses.”

Behind Arceus, Yamato felt very safe. If this place wasn’t safe, she wouldn’t know where to hide.

”Yamato, afterward, fix the floor for me. If there’s any difference, I’ll personally give you extra training.”

”Foster father! I’m innocent, I didn’t do anything! It’s father who’s gone on a drunken rampage!”

”If I’m guessing correctly, the Blissey eggs were given to him by you, right?”

”That’s right, the Blisseys said whoever ate their eggs would become gentle....”

”So I told you to fix the floor, and about the current situation...”

Arceus’s eyes glowed with purple light, and a strange smoke was released, instantly filling the floor with unusual smoke.

Kaidou’s situation was quite special. Strictly speaking, Blissey’s egg wasn’t a debuff but a state, and it was a buff. This situation required special handling.

Clear Smog was a skill born specifically to remove enemies’ buffs, and its use here was just right.

”Foster Father, is it over?”

”Over? You should know very well the nature of your father, shouldn’t you?”

The strange state on Kaidou was already dispelled by Arceus, but Arceus didn’t have the ability to sober him up. Kaidou was still in combat mode and was battling hard.

”You’re back? Just in time, there aren’t many who I can fight on this island. Yamato hasn’t grown enough yet, so it’s better if you come.”

Looking at the drunken Kaidou, Arceus didn’t say much, just glanced at Yamato behind him.

”Yamato.”

”I’m here!”

”You’ll be responsible for repairing that wall later.”

”Eh?”

Before Yamato comprehended the true meaning of these words, a massive impact knocked her back directly. The dual-attribute Judgment of Fairy and Dragon was unleashed by Arceus.

”Good, clear your head so you won’t fight indiscriminately next time!”

Yamato was safe; Arceus had already pushed Kaidou out with a Judgment. He controlled the power of the skill. Given Kaidou’s physical prowess, nothing major would happen. They just changed the battlefield. Otherwise, Ghost Island would be destroyed.

Left there, Yamato was in a daze. She raised her hand, comparing the battlefield’s environment slightly. The hole she smashed out was only two to three meters in diameter, not a big issue.

Then she looked at the large hole punched out by Arceus.

”It seems...I didn’t cause that much damage?”

Whoosh....

A cold wind swept in, blowing into Ghost Island, causing a strange sound in the corridor.

”How am I supposed to fix this thing!”

Holding her head, Yamato fell into a new round of despair, but after some time, the arriving construction team helped her immensely. If she really went to fix it, the building structure here would also be done; Arceus only asked her to assist.

As for Kaidou, after a great battle, he sobered up. Though not fully conscious, he made a breakthrough.

He has always been a warrior on the battlefield. Combat is in his genes — not just combat power, but also the ability to learn. Under the influence of Blissey’s egg, he found a unique state.

In this state, he could discard all distractions, entering combat mode and even combining it with his Drunk Dragon Hakken, unleashing greater power.

From this day on, Kaidou also started a new round of training, looking for a way to enter that state without the external aid. As for the name? For now, it can be called Gentle Hakken or Bliss Hakken. He is pondering a more imposing name.
