Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 674: Chapter 673: Why Do You Think You’re Not Being Deceived by the Illusion?

On the deck, a heavily made-up woman walked out, dressed lavishly, adorned with numerous accessories, her square face and peculiar long nose creating a unique sight.

Her taste wasn’t that bad; if you didn’t look at her face, the outfit was actually quite perfect, but her facial features probably could only be saved by surgery.

”What a pair of lovely little kids, there just happen to be two empty spots on my table. Mulu huhu~”

A cruel smile appeared at the corner of Devon’s mouth. Even with the mask as a barrier, some things couldn’t be concealed. She was about to reach out to check the two kids’ appearances, but an inexplicable feeling suddenly arose within her.

She couldn’t quite tell what this feeling was, but watching the pirate beside her, she suddenly picked up her whip and lashed out.

This was her most accustomed weapon. After a swooshing sound, the whip landed on the pirate, instantly leaving a blood mark on his chest.

”Strange, this feeling is odd...”

Watching the pirate groan on the ground, she hesitantly looked at the weapon in her hand.

She couldn’t pinpoint exactly what was wrong, but something felt off. She then directly pulled out her pistol, shooting at the howling pirate continuously until the magazine emptied.

”Cap... Captain, why? What did he do?”

”Nothing, it just suddenly felt like something’s wrong with him.”

For a normal person, even if something felt off, they wouldn’t do such a thing. But she’s different. As someone who pursues ”freedom,” she applies it to the extreme.

Between the lives of her subordinates and her intuition, she chooses to trust her intuition.

Previously, although Devon was cruel, she was still relatively generous to her subordinates. Now, her actions frightened the surrounding pirates into retreating two steps involuntarily.

”How did you two end up drifting here?”

Looking at Page One and Ulti, Devon began to suspect their identities. After these two appeared, that peculiar feeling in her began. She felt there must be some connection.

Although she was asking, she didn’t wait for the siblings to answer. With her other hand, she drew a short sword from her waist, aiming for their necks.

Devon was very skilled in both swordsmanship and firearms. She was born into a noble family and was originally a wealthy young lady.

Her swordsmanship and marksmanship had reached a high level, but they didn’t fit the local aesthetic. Her personality and appearance didn’t either, as she was nothing like a wealthy young lady in the eyes of locals.

In pursuit of that ”freedom,” she eventually embarked on the pirate path.

She was confident she could use this sword to cut off that face, but just as she swung her hand, it was firmly caught in mid-air.

”Not bad combat intuition, recognizing the anomaly. You are the first among newbies.”

A ripple appeared in the air, and Olga’s figure manifested before Devon. Seeing Olga, Devon wasn’t too afraid.

”Mulu huhu, these two brats really have an issue. Is it the ability to disguise? The New World is truly exciting...”

”Hope you can still say that in a few minutes. As a newcomer, you’re not bad, but that’s all there is.”

With Olga taking the calamity’s place, fewer and fewer people could see through her ability. Without her initiating the fight, very few could discover her presence.

Strictly speaking, Devon hadn’t truly discovered Olga; it was just her honed combat intuition made her feel something was off, forcing Olga out using unconventional means. She had to ensure her ”bait’s” safety.

”Cap... Captain! She’s... she’s a high-level official of the Hundred Beasts! The Illusory Calamity!”

Devon wasn’t panicked, but that didn’t mean her underlings weren’t scared. Having reached this position, some were still green, yet many pirates knew of the Sea Emperor’s renown.

Olga not only dispelled her own disguise but also the disguise of two pirate ships. Looking at the nearby Shadow Fox and Mandfeish pirate ships with the Hundred Beasts pirate flag, experienced ones couldn’t help but feel a sense of fear.

”Mulu huhu... quite a big shot, huh? What do you want? Recruiting me?”

”Recruiting? No, I merely plan to trade you for some pocket money. The things in your cabin are disgusting. Lord Arceus loathes pirates like you the most.”

She had inspected the ship earlier, and those ”collectibles” made her nauseous, and besides, Devon didn’t fit the Hundred Beasts’ recruitment standards based on appearance alone.

The female pirates within the Hundred Beasts are pretty decent-looking, and Devon’s grotesque look was seriously out of place with the Hundred Beasts’ style.

As an angler, when catching a pest like a scavenger, protecting the environment is necessary.

”Disgusting? Seems like you don’t understand art. Only this way ensures those things don’t wither. You might be lacking, but you barely make the cut. Just because you’ve been at sea a few years earlier, do you really think you’re invincible?”

Even as a newbie, there’s a sense of pride. Hearing Olga belittle her collectibles, Devon felt quite displeased. Her opponent’s identity didn’t scare her, and with a flick of her wrist, the whip in her other hand lashed towards Olga.

Yet in mid-air, her whip inexplicably snapped into several segments, and the Olga before her again turned into an illusory figure.

”Why would you think the person grabbing your arm is the real body?”

The surrounding environment quivered like a water surface, as dark purple energy swept across the entire deck, and the enemy pirates on the ship suddenly began a mutual slaughter.

Strong individuals could crush weaker ones, but Olga was different. These newcomers to the New World, just beginning to grasp Haki, had no ability to resist her.

Devon’s intuition could sense anomalies, but it couldn’t help her turn the tide.

The Olga before Devon turned into Elizabeth, and it was Elizabeth’s hidden blade in her tail that severed her whip.

At her fingertips, Water Type energy had also fully gathered.

Seeing the rippling water pattern, a shudder ran through Devon’s heart. But before she could make any evasive move, the claw enveloped in Dark Type energy struck at her neck.

This time, Olga’s real body appeared, landing a precise strike on the vital point. Devon’s consciousness instantly went blank, and then the Water Pulse hit her directly, sending her plummeting into the sea.

This highlights the different factions within the Hundred Beasts. Led by Kaidou, the brute faction does everything with sheer force, but besides that, a special stable faction emerged, with Olga as the representative figure.

In combat, even if her opponent had inferior strength, she wouldn’t choose a straightforward approach, instead using illusions to interfere with her opponent’s judgment, delivering a fatal blow from the shadows, while also enlisting Elizabeth to gang up on the rival.

Although she could win head-on, it wasn’t necessary; if she could evade, then there was no need to take hits forcefully. That is her current combat philosophy.

This has to do with her mischievous personality and survival experience inside the Sea King’s belly. Facing an opponent like Jack, she could lose with clarity, but against Olga, many just found themselves defeated in a deeply frustrated manner...
