Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 694: Chapter 693: Once You Defeat Kaidou, This Place Is Yours

Tyranitar quietly eats sand, uninterested in the happenings around it. In the records of the Pokemon World, Tyranitar often appears as a calamity, causing destruction even more severe than Gyarados.

While Gyarados only destroys objects on the surface, Tyranitar can truly alter landscapes, such as redirecting mountains and rivers by consuming them instead of going around or over them.

It might carve a tunnel through a mountain or block and bridge a river, feats that Tyranitar can accomplish.

This particular Tyranitar is different. It is relatively easygoing, just a bit gluttonous.

”This big guy... is definitely a nightmare for ability users... cough, cough...”

Sorlithia and Mizerka helped Speed up, patting her back. During the previous sandstorm, they all got a mouthful of sand, but Sorlithia and Mizerka, who hadn’t eaten a Devil Fruit, fared better than Speed.

They only needed a couple of coughs to recover, though covered in dust they would need a good bath later. However, Speed was different; due to her personal performance, she received a Devil Fruit at the previous Hundred Beasts annual meeting.

What was supposed to be her advantage had now become a disadvantage.

”Is it really that serious?”

”Pah pah, someday when you eat a fruit too, try experiencing it with this thing, then you’ll understand what it feels like.”

After spitting to the side several times, she took off her coat and boots, shaking them for a long while to finally clean out the sand. Any remaining dust didn’t matter much.

Seastone brings a hard-to-describe sense of powerlessness to ability users, with its impact being greater on the weak. Without a means to block the sandstorm, an extensive, fearsome Magic-Ban Domain would appear within range, indiscriminately affecting all.

With Pupitar evolved into Tyranitar, new issues arose; it needed a new place to live. When it was still in cocoon form, it could go anywhere, but with its current monster-like size, many places became inconvenient.

Ghost Island can still accommodate it, but crossing the Inner Sea has become a new problem. Pupitar could jet propulse for flight, a capability Tyranitar lacks, and as a Rock Type, it doesn’t swim, making crafting a special river vessel impractical.

Ships capable of carrying such size do exist, like those of Jack, Kaidou, and Arceus, but these ships serve bigger purposes.

Previously, there was no bridge linking Ghost Island and the mainland of Wano Kuni, so even members of the Hundred Beasts on the island relied on ships. Now, with another non-swimmer added to their ranks, the bridge-building plan is advancing.

There is no longer a need to completely isolate Ghost Island from Wano Kuni.

With Tyranitar’s evolution, new activities gradually came to the forefront. Tyranitar’s appearance is not just about being a pet and partner; like Emboar, it’s intended as a weapon of war.

Emboar was created earlier and has represented Hundred Beasts in numerous campaigns, yet Tyranitar is a newcomer, needing an opportunity to gain experience.

Hundred Beasts, with its legitimate enterprise Hundred Beasts Fruit, earns massive profits annually, but they remain essentially pirates.

For those within Hundred Beasts Territory, the group is seen as protectors and benefactors, offering countless unprecedented benefits. However, outsiders view them differently.

To outsiders, Hundred Beasts are not good people but formidable villains. There are many things they won’t do, but that doesn’t mean they’re unrelated to piracy.

Fighting, looting, and robbing are still part of their daily routine, although they select their targets carefully beforehand.

Whether it’s pirate treasures, goods from other fleets or kingdoms, or supplies escorted by the Navy, they have the audacity to seize them.

Everything within their territory receives their protection, but non-partners outside it don’t.

This more authentic pirate life isn’t something Yamato appreciates; she prefers adventure over plunder.

...

”Foster father, is all this really necessary?”

One day, in front of the Treasure Vault on Ghost Island, while Arceus inventoried strategic materials, Yamato expressed her doubt.

”What do you mean?”

”Isn’t the money earned from Hundred Beasts Fruit and Tesoro enough to spend? Plus, there’s a large treasure on the island, with the gold from Sky Island. I think finding treasure alone is enough to support our daily expenses. There’s no need to fight and take these things.”

”If you put it that way, you’re not wrong. These revenues can sustain the entire Hundred Beasts’ spending, and we don’t live off plunder.”

Lower-tier pirates live by robbery, whereas the Sea Emperors of the New World had long turned this practice into taxation, as long as they seize it.

In essence, there’s no difference, as most pirate treasures were taken from others; the difference is they didn’t handle it directly, providing a slightly better moral stance.

”Then why...” ℯℯ𝑙.

”Because the current Governor of the Hundred Beasts Pirates is named Kaidou. If you want to change all this, I don’t oppose it, provided you can defeat your father.”

”Eh?”

”This is a twisted world where no one is bound by mere words. The strong impose their version of ’order’ based on their preferences. Whether you want to change Hundred Beasts or the entire world, the prerequisite is that you must be strong enough.”

The current habits of Hundred Beasts largely exist because Kaidou himself is a battle-centric figure, finding it harder to go without fighting than without alcohol. Arceus’s group is focused on development, while Kaidou’s side is focused on building military strength, planning for a future war.

Kaidou’s philosophy always prioritizes strength, with might determining rank. If he ever truly loses to Yamato, he might accept her demands.

”Defeat him... hey, foster father, what’s my father’s strongest form like? You should know, right? Does he have any weaknesses?”

”Don’t think of unrealistic plans. Unless you stab him in the heart beforehand, knowing his weaknesses is largely meaningless. His battle with Whitebeard was essentially his strongest form.

But he also grows stronger; you’ll have a long way to go before defeating him. Instead of daydreaming, why not try talking with Zekrom and Reshiram? They’re easier to communicate with, and I’ve already helped you a lot.”

Yamato wasn’t on a fixed course, but in a chase; as she grew stronger, Kaidou’s boundless battles also increased his strength, and the perfection of his Mountain Collapse Hakken was proof that surpassing him would not be simple.

The dual dragons’ strength is the simplest breakthrough, but until now, Yamato has only managed to connect with half, Zekrom.
