Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 658: Chapter 657: Intermittently Effective Intelligence

The Corviknight entangled in the spider’s web hasn’t given up struggling yet, its wings continually flapping up and down, with the tips of its feathers intertwined with the web.

During its evolution, Corviknight had long transformed its outer feathers into steel. Though they are feathers, they are as sharp as blades.

If it was an ordinary rope net, it would definitely be cut by its feathers. However, these were webs made by Maria. The more it resisted, the stronger the web’s hold on it became.

”What’s wrong with it?”

”I don’t know, I can’t communicate with it at all. It’s got a jumble of thoughts... like a drunk and violent father, filled with aggressive impulses.”

While single-handedly subduing the Corviknight, Yamato answered Maria’s question, at the same time feeling around the Corviknight’s neck, where she had seen a strange glint earlier.

Soon, she found the tracker installed by Indigo. Due to the unique structure of Corviknight’s body, it was welded directly onto its feathers.

Though Corviknight’s feathers have no pain nerves, it still made Yamato quite displeased.

”These bastards... don’t let me find out who did it! Ship doctor! Where’s the antidote made from Pecha Berries? Hurry up and bring it over!”

Yamato was not skilled in medical skills, having no solutions for sick people, the most she could do was slightly alleviate some pain using the Power of the Evergreen.

But because of the Power of the Evergreen, she was an excellent Pokemon doctor.

The Power of the Evergreen gave her the ability to heal Pokemon’s injuries, and while healing, she could also roughly sense which part of the body had problems.

When she discovered the Corviknight going berserk, she simultaneously used the Power of the Evergreen to alleviate its symptoms.

The Power of the Evergreen was universally effective for Pokemon’s injuries and illnesses, but in single aspects, it couldn’t beat the effects of specific Berries. When noticing the Corviknight’s situation was due to poisoning,

IQ was undoubtedly a toxin to Corviknight; thus, the specifically detoxifying Pecha Berry became the most direct cure.

”Com... coming right away, Ghost Princess, please wait a moment.”

The ship doctor quickly returned to the treatment room on the Mammoth and found the appropriate medicine.

With the medicine in hand, Yamato forcibly pried open the Corviknight’s beak and poured the prepared remedy directly in. As the medicine entered its body, the Corviknight ceased its violent struggle.

”It’s all right, it’s all right, you’re safe now, just rest. Maria, that’s enough.”

The Pecha Berry worked quickly, and before long, Yamato sensed feedback from the Corviknight again, signaling Maria to clear the webbing.

The spider silk she released was extremely adhesive, but conversely, Maria also had methods to deal with such webs. If she didn’t handle it herself, outsiders would find it quite troublesome to deal with these webs.

”Jack, take a look at this thing, can you recognize whose it is?”

While soothing the Corviknight, Yamato threw the removed tracker to Jack. Maria rarely left Ghost Island, and Yamato wasn’t interested in intelligence work, usually leaving it to Speed and the others to handle.

But this time she and Maria were traveling on Jack’s ship, and since they sneaked out, they didn’t bring several of them along. Among those present, Jack was the most knowledgeable about external matters.

”I don’t know; there’s no mark on it at all.”

In the Pirate World, the norm was to use pirate flags on various items to indicate identity, the best way to determine a faction was through the flag.

At the same time, it was a good way to instigate conflicts between different forces; many simple-minded individuals would make very abrupt decisions based on discovered flags.

But sparking a quarrel between major forces this way was unrealistic, they weren’t incapable of communication. Such matters could easily be settled through negotiations, and if found out, those impersonating a flag would incur the joint wrath of both parties.

If they really started fighting, it was likely because both sides already wanted to go to war and just needed an excuse.

Even so, those who impersonated a flag wouldn’t be spared afterward. To pirates, a flag was akin to life itself—whether it was damaged or impersonated, it was a declaration of war.

But the Golden Lion was different; he had been stealthily developing for years, completely disappearing from view. Even Indigo didn’t leave a pirate flag on the tracker.

However, at that moment, it was the Corviknight that provided Yamato with an answer.

”Do you still remember where those guys are?”

”Caw...”

The Corviknight nodded affirmatively, having entered a frenzied state, but certainly didn’t forget everything.

It still had some memory of the island’s appearance and could recall some of the route it took to fly away from there.

Flapping its wings a few times, the Corviknight got back on its feet.

IQ had not seriously harmed its body, the substance was more akin to a stimulant, causing some fatigue but no severe consequences.

With the help of the Power of the Evergreen, it had recovered quite a bit.

Pokemon held grudges too. Ever since its operation, the Corviknight Taxi Company had never encountered accidents, making this Corviknight resentful of the Golden Lion’s actions.

”Wait, wait, don’t bother, leave it to your companions.”

Seeing that the Corviknight wanted to stand up and lead the way, Yamato stopped it and whistled into the sky.

The clear whistle echoed through the air, and before long, two black silhouettes appeared on the horizon. They were the other Corviknight she had brought with her, who had been searching for the missing Corviknight until summoned back now.

”Jack, destroy that thing.”

”Hmm?”

”Since those guys installed such a thing on the Corviknight, they surely have a way to know its location. Once it’s destroyed, they’ll certainly notice.

Though we don’t know their intentions, since they aim to track Corviknight, they’ll surely come looking for it themselves. We’ll wait for them to come.”

The Corviknight’s memory of the route was vague, and Yamato wasn’t sure if it could actually find its way back, so she opted for a strategy of lying in wait.

Whenever something involved Kaidou and battle, her senses were highly attuned.

”No need for that; those guys... seem to have arrived already.”

Jack casually discarded the tracker, and they observed a black dot in the sky growing larger, a massive flying island was soaring in the air, drifting towards the Mammoth.

The Golden Lion had been using his powers to follow the Corviknight closely; the moment Yamato removed the tracker, they had sensed something was amiss.

”Caw!”

Staring at the floating island, the once-missing Corviknight cried out, explaining everything to the others.

”Very well, send those bastards flying! Doing this to a Pokemon... is unforgivable!”

Saying this, Yamato leaped into the air, and as she descended, the two healthy Corviknight began to swell and assume their Gigantamax forms...
