Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 651: Chapter 650: Serperior’s Contrary

Because rubber is non-conductive, it can attack the body of the Rumble-Rumble Fruit, and Serperior has turned into a Grass-type Pokemon, whose plant body can also enable it to attack Enel’s body.

Although only dried tree leaves are insulators, Serperior is not a mere plant, but a Grass Attribute Pokemon with Pokemon energy within its body.

Just now, in Serperior’s tail swing, the Grass Attribute energy was activated, and with the help of this energy, the plant-like body formed a special kind of insulator.

If Enel had eaten the Flame-Flame Fruit or Smok-Smoke Fruit, he could have been immune to Serperior’s attacks, but he ended up eating the Rumble-Rumble Fruit.

Due to his arrogance, he did not evade the beast’s attack, so he was sent flying.

”God!”

Looking at Enel being sent flying, his followers who came with him were shocked. It was precisely because of Enel’s formidable power that they followed him and became his priests.

Since the day Beeka was destroyed, they had never seen Enel get hurt.

”You’ve angered me, beast!”

Enel, who had been sent flying, carved a deep trench into the Island Cloud. In fact, after being sent flying, he could have elementalized, but it had been a long time since he knew what pain felt like.

At the moment he was hit, his thoughts paused briefly, then his mind was consumed by fury as a beast used its tail to knock him away in front of his priests.

For a ”God,” this was utterly humiliating.

Sizzle, sizzle!

Thick currents coiled around Enel, making his whole body glow with electricity, and even his eyes were filled with azure lightning.

”30 Million Volts: Thunder Beast!”

The golden staff in Enel’s hand struck the taiko on his left shoulder, and a powerful current converged into a wolf-headed beast from his body, rushing toward Serperior.

He wanted to use the life of his opponent to wipe away the insult he suffered.

Serperior was a large target, and even though it wasn’t slow, the immense size reduced its evasion capabilities, and Enel’s lightning attack struck it solidly.

As the lightning spread throughout Serperior’s body, everyone around was temporarily blinded by the dazzling lightning.

”Yahaha, feel the wrath of God! Even if your body is special, a beast that relies on brute force is still a beast...”

Enel stopped mid-sentence as the lightning created by the Thunder Beast dissipated, revealing Serperior’s form back in everyone’s view.

Though it bore traces of lightning on its body, its stature remained upright, and its vertical pupils had taken on a menacing glint.

As a Grass-type starter, Serperior had a decent resistance to lightning attacks. Its enormous size may have cost it some agility, but it also granted it a sturdier physique.

Enel’s attack struck it as no more than a superficial wound, yet his lightning did cause Serperior to feel pain, and Enel had previously destroyed the totem of the Shandia Tribe.

Both mentally and physically, Enel had injured Serperior.

”Roar!!”

A great roar erupted from its maw, and a multitude of leaves were gathered by Serperior into the sky, each leaf as large as an adult human, beginning to swirl in the sky.

It had been modified from a Sky Island Giant Serpent into a Pokemon; as a giant serpent, its stance towards humans was indifferent, and after modification, Serperior’s nature made it even prouder. Taking a hit without retaliating was not in its character.

Under Arceus’s command, it protected the Shandia People and attacked those disliked intruders.

Reciprocating gifts, Serperior had prepared a generous gift from the start, the Grass-type’s major skill - Leaf Storm.

The dense leaves formed a terrifying tornado, sweeping toward Enel like a shredder.

As a major skill of the Grass-type, the power of Leaf Storm was terrifying, almost like a tornado that reduced even rocks to dust in an instant.

”Damn....”

Enel’s figure turned into lightning and disappeared from the attack range of Leaf Storm, reappearing in the sky when he became visible again. However, compared to his previous arrogance, he now looked a bit disheveled.

The white turban wrapped around his head was nowhere to be seen, revealing short curly hair akin to that of a middle-aged lady.

He had thought it was only the opponent’s body that was special, not expecting their ranged attack had the same effect. Had it not been for his speed and his Observation Haki accurately predicting all of Serperior’s attack spots, he wouldn’t have escaped.

Seeing Enel dodge his attack, Serperior’s eyes showed some impatience as it began to gather a new attack, while Enel continued to evade by relying on his active elementalization.

But judging from the feedback of the attacks, Serperior’s attack potency seemed to be escalating.

Leaf Storm and Solar Beam differ; they are both high-power moves, but the price of Solar Beam is its charging time, whereas Leaf Storm’s cost is a significant special attack drop.

Originally intended as a weakening factor, this Serperior’s trait was Contrary, a trait that inverses buffs and debuffs.

The special attack drop on Serperior instead becomes a boost, making it fiercer as the battle progresses.

Enel’s underlying arrogance was further provoked by Serperior. He did not attack anyone else, focusing solely on Serperior, as in his eyes, the Shandia People were mere insects, and the giant snake was the only threat.

Thus, the situation spiraled into an endless loop; Serperior’s attack, though potent, couldn’t hit Enel, whose Mind Reading level Observation Haki combined with the Rumble-Rumble Fruit rendered Serperior incapable of dealing with him.

Similarly, Enel couldn’t finish Serperior off; his attacks hit Serperior, but due to its massive size and the resistance provided by the Grass Attribute, the damage was severely limited, and Serperior could recover via Synthesis.

After battling for some time, Enel opted for a temporary retreat.

”Beast, remember this, I leave you some time to think about joining me!”

With the initiative in his hands, if Enel wanted to leave, Serperior couldn’t stop him.

In the days that followed, Enel would attack once every one or two days, each with a new mode of attack.

The power of Observation Haki and the Rumble-Rumble Fruit showcased Enel’s talent, and his battles slowly began achieving some results.

Although he still couldn’t overpower Serperior, the damage dealt was gradually increasing, and the range of destruction was expanding, affecting the harvesting of Sky Island Shells.

This eventually led the Shandia People to call for help from Ghost Island, hoping for a resolution soon.
