Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 692: Chapter 691: Do I Know... or Not?

”Why are you two staring at me instead of eating?”

In the evening, Wanda sensed a very odd atmosphere because Miaona and Wolf kept their eyes on her and never looked away.

As a sister-in-law, living with her sister and brother-in-law wasn’t particularly suitable, even though they had built quite a large villa.

Living together always has some inconveniences, so Wanda stayed in the back house with Ling and Hatch. Different areas of Wano Kuni were allotted to their own people.

Most of Kuri’s authority was given to Zeraora, and now it has become the second settlement for the Fur Race. Wanda only occasionally came over to grab a meal. With the large canteen in Ghost Island, having one person to collect food is sufficient.

She wasn’t new to eating there, so these two little ones should have been used to it by now.

”Do you want to eat this?”

Seeing that the two little ones’ gaze hadn’t moved, she looked at the items in front of her, pondering what the issue might be.

It was just a few more chicken legs. The Fur Race didn’t eat furry mammals; birds, fish, and Sea Beasts became their primary sources of meat. Depending on genetic differences, the Fur Race had different food requirements.

Her family had a carnivorous gene, and the family’s food was primarily meat, without many distinct differences.

”Aunt, shouldn’t you go for training?”

”Tra... training?”

Wolf’s words left Wanda puzzled. Since when did it become these little ones’ turn to urge her to train?

”Yes, yes, you’re grown up now, but you can’t even use Moon Lion.”

Miaona chimed in. The Fur Race members who learn Moon Lion are the only ones who can move freely on the night of a full moon. Children are grounded that evening. The power boost from Moon Lion is terrifying, but it’s ultimately a berserk-type skill.

Those who half-assedly use Moon Lion might deplete their strength and die. Except for the elite of elites, ordinary Fur Race members feel tired after using Moon Lion. Children lack self-control and can’t be trusted not to look at the moon during a full moon.

To prevent accidents, even considering the Fur Race’s loose parenting style, they won’t let children out during a full moon.

This was also the reason Setsuna refused to teach the kids Moon Lion now. They’re too young, and even with their talent, it might not be inappropriate to start now.

But without mastering this ultimate skill, they were already somewhat unruly. Teaching them Moon Lion early definitely wasn’t wise, which was the main reason why Setsuna refused to let them learn it.

If taught now, the house might get torn down during a full moon. These two kids seem to inherit Hatch’s hyperactive genes.

”Who says I don’t know how? I’m part of the Firearms Team, after all. How could I not learn something like Moon Lion?”

Hearing Miaona’s doubts, Wanda finally understood the cause. These little ones seemed to see her as a good-for-nothing freeloader, and she certainly had to refute that.

This year, Wanda was 21. In terms of talent, she couldn’t compare to a prodigy like Setsuna, but compared to the average Fur Race, she was indeed above average.

Getting selected for the Firearms Team was the best proof. The Fur Race was few in number and had no standard military regime, being an all-prepared-for-combat race. Normally, they lived isolated on Zou. Encountering an enemy meant invasion.

At that time, all the Fur Race could become powerful warriors.

The Firearms Team was an exception. They carried out military roles, but weren’t a standard military force. In Zou, the Firearms Team was responsible for guarding the medical center at the Fluffy Kingdom’s rear, protecting the Duke.

Those who joined the Firearms Team were elite warriors of the Fur Race. As the king’s personal guard, they weren’t just for show; they were the real deal.

Mastering Moon Lion was the entry ticket to the Firearms Team. Wanda had been able to use Moon Lion for many years, only her stamina was somewhat lacking.

”Did I...”

”Did I, Wanda? When did you learn Moon Lion? I don’t recall.”

With a loud bang, a large wooden tray was placed in the center of the table. Setsuna returned to the dining table with the freshly heated main dish.

Wanda was about to state that she learned Moon Lion from Setsuna, then noticed the slightly threatening look from Setsuna.

”Aunt, do you really know it or not?”

”Yes, Aunt, you aren’t bluffing, are you?”

Seeing Wanda not giving an immediate response, Miaona and Wolf’s expressions changed from excitement to disappointment, and then a hint of disdain appeared.

”I... do I know it or not....”

Wanda suddenly lost confidence, not knowing how to answer.

”I think you’re just tired from yesterday. I don’t remember you learning Moon Lion. Have a sandwich and rest a bit; it’s a special delivery from Zeraora from Ghost Island.”

With that, a sandwich was stuffed into Wanda’s mouth, temporarily silencing her.

Ghost Island’s special fried chicken sandwich, a supreme mix of secret seasoning. Its taste and nutrition were rich, but it was a bit dry.

Setsuna didn’t actually need to use an example of someone who couldn’t master Moon Lion, like Bepo, who hadn’t learned it yet since his talent in this aspect was lacking.

If they found someone who couldn’t, and that person suddenly learned or never learned, it would be troublesome. So she just found an excuse. Whether Wanda knew Moon Lion wasn’t important; what mattered was that in Wolf and Miaona’s minds, she didn’t.

Only when the right time came, like when it was the proper time to learn, she could master Moon Lion.

”The two of you should forget about it for now. That state is not suitable for you. Just wait patiently until you grow up; then you’ll have both Moon Lion and Lord Arceus’s powers.

Properly eat your meals now so you can grow up fast. Don’t think about sneaking lessons; your dad won’t teach you either.”

The change of topic shifted the children’s focus. Kids typically don’t stay interested in one thing for long, and soon the topic was shifted, but Wanda seemed to have earned a reputation for boasting.

The food on the table was quickly devoured, leaving everyone in a stuffed state. More than one was in this state. In Hakumai, Yamato was observing the condition of Pupitar, which seemed listless today, looking perpetually weary and unresponsive to her calls...
