Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 478: Chapter 477: Archaeology Is the Primary Productive Force

This is the biggest difference between fighting alone and taking team action. In the original timeline, she could only rely on herself. Even if she wanted to explore history, she had to rely on other organizations and also guard against the emergence of such situations.

But now it’s different. She has ample time to slowly study things afterward. As long as it’s confirmed that the discovered items are valuable, she can request assistance. With the positioning of the Life Card, people from the Hundred Beasts nearby can quickly find her.

Treasures, Plates, Poneglyphs, Devil Fruits, Famed Swords—anything of value, this was also part of the agreement when the Hundred Beasts took them away from Ohara. The documents were for them to research, but things of actual value belonged to the Hundred Beasts.

In here is a Poneglyph, though not the last missing red Roadsign Poneglyph, but those Poneglyphs engraved with important information are also needed by the Hundred Beasts.

Things that have been passed down for so long are likely to contain secrets, and mysteries from hundreds of years ago are also things they want to know.

Although King and Shaina are remnants of the Lunarians Race, some information has long been lost, and now archaeology is the only solution.

Elizabeth shook her tail, leaving no trace of blood on the sharp tail blade. Then, a few drops of water appeared at her fingertips, and the water droplets with strong penetrating power were fired like bullets, instantly piercing the hearts of a few people in the distance.

At the same time, the ships anchored in the bay also experienced a series of explosions, and the ship of that organization sank directly under the firepower bombardment of the Shadow Fox.

And the nictitating membrane covering Elizabeth’s eyes has not opened. As a special structure of the reptilian kind, Inteleon’s nictitating membrane not only functions biologically to keep the eyes moist but also acts as a radar for this species.

The special structure on the nictitating membrane can analyze enemy weaknesses and see things invisible to the naked eye, like a Sobble hiding behind a rock.

She is this Sobble’s biological mother, but the first being it saw when it was born was Robin. Elizabeth had no special feelings for it, so she was just teaching the next generation.

For example, that angle just now could be used to launch a Water Gun or something. Although the difference between a Sobble and an Inteleon is significant, and Sobbles cannot freely fire high-speed water bullets like Inteleons, their Water Gun is not just for watering flowers.

In the worst case, they can incorporate the gland content into the Water Gun, and that substance would be a potent tear gas for humans even when diluted.

Even though Elizabeth had not experienced the first two forms of the Inteleon, as the final evolutionary form of Sobble, there are some shared capabilities between the two.

While Elizabeth was educating her juniors, Olga also arrived here with her people.

”Little Robin, have you found anything?”

”A Poneglyph, but I haven’t read the specific content yet.”

”Got it, I’ll bring that thing back.”

The Hundred Beasts Pirates don’t just collect replicas of Poneglyphs, they want the original Poneglyphs. Although in the eyes of the world, the most important aspect of a Poneglyph is the information recorded on it.

However, as special stone blocks that have been indestructible for centuries, there might be unknown secrets on them. If the situation allows, taking these things back with them is the optimal solution.

”Take those treasures away too; money shouldn’t be wasted.”

Since they were here, they wouldn’t let those treasures go. After having a few people tidy up the treasures outside, the remaining people followed Robin into the ruins.

...

”We are merely gleaners... Robin, this sentence means that, right?”

Olga can now understand ancient texts, but she is still somewhat of a novice in certain areas, and she can’t be sure of some translations. Comparatively, Robin is the professional translator.

”There’s no problem with understanding it that way, it seems to be like a research log mentioning some special technologies from hundreds of years ago, but....”

”What’s wrong?”

”Look here, and here, the meaning of the text in these places... It seems that this world had more advanced technology hundreds of years ago?”

The future being more advanced than the past is a belief most people hold, but the information in this piece of text seems to counter this notion.

In some sense, it’s not surprising. The Sea King is the Mermaid Princess, but the Netherworld King is recorded as a giant warship, described as an Ancient Weapon, naturally created in ancient times.

But now this thing is nowhere to be found, meaning that some current technologies are not as good as those of ancient times.

This situation is not uncommon in parts of the world, where certain Celestial Spirits, finding their weapons too powerful, instead sealed them away, so when faced with Swarm invasions, the fastest way to develop armaments was not through research but through archaeology.

The warships left by the Golden Age became a reliance for Celestial Spirits in later generations. Looking at it this way, there’s a similar situation in The Sea, where the existence of the World Government has not promoted progress but rather caused regression.

And those ancient things have been controlled by them, so using them can realize a dimensional attack.

”No wonder they fear the exploration of history so much...”

”Forget it, let’s not dwell on this. The records on this Poneglyph are incomplete, and without context, we can only make wild guesses.”

Based on those snippets of information, they couldn’t determine some details, so finally they loaded the Poneglyph onto the ship to let the doctors above Ghost Island slowly research it.

With the Poneglyph in tow, Olga returned directly to Ghost Island but did not take Robin, leaving her on a nearby island. The discovery of these ruins made her more curious about past events and more determined to pursue her exploration goals.

According to intelligence compiled by other scholars of Ohara, she set her sights on the Four Seas first, as opposed to Paradise and the New World, where it’s safer and easier to explore for certain things.

Robin’s departure did not affect Ghost Island, but other forces suffered. Robin possessed a strong talent for learning, acquiring a lot during the time she was with Tesoro.

Harnessing that knowledge and her cunning, she thrived in various forces. However, the organizations that took her in often encountered accidents, although she always managed to escape unscathed, gradually making a name for herself in the Underworld, albeit not a good one.

Even though she was mighty, forces daring to employ her often crumbled due to internal strife, so within a year’s time, she garnered the nickname Black Widow of the Underworld due to the downfall of three underground organizations...
