Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 388: Chapter 387: Jack: You Value Women Over Friends!

Otohime had the ability to read minds, unlike Enel’s ability developed through fruit ability training, her power was innate. However, she didn’t habitually browse other people’s inner thoughts.

If external voices continuously entered one’s mind, it would drive a person crazy, and casually reading others’ minds wasn’t her style; she was, after all, a rather naive idealist.

During her speeches, she only sensed whether there was any agreement in the other person’s heart, similar to distinguishing between good and evil, but such a sense of agreement was rare, maybe not one in hundreds of people.

Both Mandfeish and Jack had some level of agreement with her words; one wanted to marry a mermaid, while the other got along well with humans, which is why they partially agreed with her equality speech.

Otohime did not pursue them but instead began to speak more passionately. Every bit of agreement was motivation for her.

In fact, her ability was far more than that, her Observation Haki was both very strong and very weak.

Strong enough to influence others’ minds and thoughts and produce a strong resonance; it could even alter others’ values and ideologies.

Years later, Mjosgard’s sudden change in thinking wasn’t solely due to gratitude for saving him; Otohime played a significant role in this.

But at the same time, she was very weak; her physique so frail that slapping others would break her own bones; with that physique, training was out of the question. And her mind-influencing Observation Haki was different from conventional Observation Haki.

It wasn’t the conventional Haki that could be trained to the level of Future Sight, but like the Supreme King, it was an innate ability. Her influence wasn’t instant mind control, but a gradual, subtle impact.

The Heavenly Celestial Dragon were extremely polarized, and some of their mental resistance was undoubtedly at the bottom of the world’s rankings.

Even so, influencing them took a lot of effort; as long as one was strong, she was basically powerless. Otherwise, she wouldn’t need to do anything else; just walking around outside would allow her to rule the world.

...

Crossing Jilong Kao’er Square, Mandfeish returned to Coral Hill once more, and along the way, Jack witnessed a wide variety of different mermaids and fish-men.

Both saltwater and freshwater fish, and even some non-fish marine creatures occasionally appeared here. Although Jack appeared more human, his massive size and Mandfeish by his side avoided many troubles.

”Mandfeish brother, didn’t you say...that woman is a Princess?”

”Yes, is there a problem?”

”If she’s a Princess, then her words should carry a weight similar to Lord Arceus and Mr. Kaido, right?”

”Uh...Jack, although...maybe...well, that’s basically what it means, but your analogy is very inappropriate. Do you want to be scolded by the big sister?”

”No, I just mean, why is it that no one listens to the Princess’s words, the passersby act completely contrary to her requirements?”

In Jack’s view, subjects to their King and ordinary pirates to a Captain in the Hundred Beasts are the same; if Kaido were speaking, it wouldn’t be a speech, but an order.

”Because Governor Kaido and Lord Arceus are strong enough, Jack. This is a cruel world, without strength, everything is pointless. If she had absolute strength, then these would quickly be implemented, but she doesn’t.

Although I agree with some of her words, it’s a pity, she’s destined not to realize her ideals.”

”Why?”

”Peace isn’t spoken into existence. Placing hope for peace on others’ thoughts is a very sad thing; only when your fists are big enough can you propagate your ideals to others.

Otherwise, even if you convince him today, it’s pointless; a single piece of paper can’t bind this world of strength.”

The pirate territories, the status of member countries, all these are basically defended by strength, and the World Government is no exception; without military support, the Heavenly Celestial Dragons would have died numerous times by now.

”Is strength...very important?”

”Of course, it is very important. We’re almost there; make sure you don’t talk nonsense later.”

Approaching Rushaka’s home, Mandfeish reiterated the issues Jack needed to be mindful of.

”I got it, don’t worry, Mandfeish brother.”

”Hmm, right, smile, don’t be so stiff...forget it, better not smile, just maintain that expression.”

Looking at those sharp teeth, Mandfeish thought it was better not to let him smile.

...

”Rushaka, are you home? I’m back!”

A familiar place, familiar words, familiar knocking, but this time unlike last time, after barely knocking, movement was heard inside.

”Mandfeish, you’re back...who’s he?”

Looking at the big guy behind Mandfeish, Rushaka was visibly taken aback.

”Orders from above require me to bring this kid to learn some Fishman Karate and Fishman Judo. Have you seen Hack recently?”

”No, but are you sure...this is a kid?”

Even among fish-men, Jack was an unusually large size, but this issue didn’t last long, and during this time, Jack noticed the situation inside Rushaka’s home, many things came in pairs.

If, as Mandfeish said, Rushaka had been single the whole time, it would indicate significant progress between them.

Finally, Jack watched as Mandfeish happily walked into the house, while he was left waiting alone at the doorstep.

It wasn’t that Rushaka didn’t allow him in, but he couldn’t fit; this wasn’t Ghost Island, where houses were built to Kaido’s size allowing even the Giant Race to come and go freely.

Due to that cursed reputation, Rushaka lived alone, so her house was naturally built according to her size, even making the two-meter-tall Mandfeish duck and sidestep upon entry.

Unless the door were demolished, Jack couldn’t get in. In such cases, Mandfeish opted to have Jack wait at the door while he handled some matters first.

This resulted in a peculiar scene of a naive muscleman sitting alone by the door.

”Will he be alright?”

”No worries, he’s often alone, used to it long ago.”

The exterior Jack didn’t hear this remark, otherwise, he would have surely rebuffed Mandfeish, insisting he was only used to being the lone man amidst females, not to being alone in general.

Meanwhile, out on the sea, Kojiro was still waiting to be coated, and on the other side of the Red Earth Continent, the Shampodi Islands, a group of pirates received a task.

”Find this fish-man?”

”He’s an escaped slave, your goal is to capture him back. Of course, any other mermaids or fish-men will also be purchased according to auction prices.”
