Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 145: Chapter 144: Environmental Guardian - Alola Muk

At night, at the drainage outlet of a certain factory in Udon, a large amount of highly toxic wastewater was discharged from the outlet and flowed into the outer canal. However, this section of the canal had been modified and was dry, so the wastewater did not directly flow into the main canal.

As the wastewater was discharged, several strange creatures crawled out from the corners of the factory. The toxic wastewater was a delicious meal for them, and the wastewater was quickly consumed cleanly, with some crystalline blocks appearing on their bodies.

Alola Muk.

Regular Muk is a bizarre creature made of sludge, with a foul-smelling liquid inside that most people find disgusting, though a few individuals can detect a pleasant scent from them.

Such Muks are not suited to appear here, but Alola Muk is different.

First of all, Alola Muk is not just Poison Attribute, but a combination of Poison Attribute and Dark Attribute. Arceus, possessing the Dread Plate, can modify the sludge generated from the factory’s wastewater, gifting them with new abilities.

Thus, Alola Muk was born, and its purpose was to deal with the toxic wastewater discharged from weapon factories.

Unlike Muks and Grimers from other regions, Alola Muk creates and stores toxins within itself, and even when approaching them, there’s no unpleasant odor.

There are some crystalline blocks on Alola Muk’s body surface, which are crystallized toxins, and a person would be poisoned upon contact.

These toxin crystals are very fragile and easy to collect. Queen regularly sends people to gather these crystals. They are natural toxins, and only with Berry ingredients can a strong Antidote be made. This toxic cristal even became a new strategic resource.

However, there is no need to worry about accidental poisoning. Alola Muk has a mild temperament and will not actively attack people. The factory frequently discharges wastewater, providing them with enough food, so most of the time they remain immobile, nestled in the crevices near the factory.

From a distance, they look like floorboards of peculiar colors.

Initially, their color wasn’t so vibrant, but as a large amount of wastewater was consumed, Alola Muk’s color was no longer a single shade of purple but became multicolored and extremely vivid.

This is because the ingested toxic wastewater caused chemical reactions in their bodies, and these Alola Muks could also serve as factory guards to prevent sabotage, thereby achieving multiple purposes with one action.

However, this led Kurozumi Orochi to only be happy for a few days before the toxic wastewater mysteriously vanished.

No one explained to him what Alola Muk was, and he was unaware that the disappearance of toxic wastewater was due to Muks.

Before this, he had never built a factory, so he regarded it all as a natural phenomenon.

This was also the reason for Uzuki Tempura’s contemplation. He did not understand what Orochi was doing.

In Wano Kuni, there were many refugees without stable livelihoods, mostly petty hooligans, but now they’ve been rounded up by the Hundred Beasts for factory work, subjected to labor reform under their supervision.

Under the operation of the Hundred Beasts, Udon’s public security environment surprisingly improved.

Even Orochi couldn’t wrap his head around it. The Hundred Beasts cultivating fields and raising cattle was fine, but why were they forcibly capturing laborers and building factories according to their own agenda? But why did the rest of the country feel that life was better?

They also rented out Tauros to ordinary residents. One Tauros could do the work of ten ordinary plowing oxen in one day. Everything seemed fine, but few were willing to rent a Tauros. In their eyes, a Tauros with three tails was a part of the ’demon’ category.

Changing this perception would take time.

Meanwhile, a voice of opposition arose from Kuri.

Leading the charge were the Household Attendants of Oden, who, after careful analysis, thought they had found the right answer: Kurozumi Orochi was trying to win over the public to weaken the Kozuki Family’s rule.

They saw Kaidou as an accomplice brought from outside for the Kozuki Family’s sake, and believed everyone should resist Kurozumi Orochi and Kaidou. Influenced by them, many people refused to work on Hundred Beasts’ land and secretly destroyed their crops.

As a result, the Hundred Beasts displayed their might for the first time, and a preliminary conflict broke out, bringing a sigh of relief to Kurozumi Orochi.

Most matters in Wano Kuni had been arranged, and what remained was slow development. After dealing with a series of issues, Arceus planned to set out again in search of Plates, adopting a different decision-making process for fate.

This time, instead of throwing stones, he had Chansey bring Yamato over.

Though not even a year old, she could crawl swiftly, and Chansey estimated she would soon learn to walk.

”Come on, little one, this time you choose the location for the search.” A nautical chart made entirely of water floated before Yamato, its sudden appearance sparking her interest.

As her little hand poked around, she illuminated a nearby sea area.

”Shaina, prepare the crew and organize the route; we’ll head here this time.”

”Lord Arceus, the Origin has always been on standby and can depart at any time.” She knew Arceus wouldn’t stay here forever, so since arriving in Wano Kuni, she regularly assigned personnel to replenish supplies on the Origin.

Her goal was to be ready for whenever Arceus needed to set sail.

”Shaina, you don’t need to accompany me this time. Stay and keep an eye on affairs here, and have Olga and Zeraora prepare.” Wano Kuni was still in development, and some places needed the suppression of officers.

Building factories wasn’t smooth sailing for Orochi, and without Kaidou’s power as backing, he might not have constructed so many in Udon. Moreover, Kaidou also advised him to take children along during voyages to accelerate their growth.

”Understood, I’ll keep watch here.” Although Shaina was more eager to sail with Arceus, she wouldn’t counter his command.

Arceus’s strength was not a concern, with his gradually restoring power and electromagnetic floating solving the flight issue. He wasn’t in a rush, and each sea area passed through was within his search range, so he would still sail.

Unexpectedly, just before departure, Kaidou had Yamato tossed onto the ship.

”What are you doing?”

”Let her see the world early on, and besides, didn’t she select the sea area for your search? It would be a shame if she missed witnessing her first choice in life. By the way, where are you headed this time?”

”Edvaul Sea Region.”
