Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 117: Chapter 116: The Strange Profits of Fruit

It’s not that she found this business small; in this world, trading fruit could earn quite a bit of money.

For example, in the Cocoyasi being oppressed by Ah Long, he was collecting a protection fee of 100,000 Belly per month from adults and 50,000 Belly from children, while the economy of a small village in the East Sea largely depended on trading agricultural products.

A typical village’s trade routes would naturally not be extensive, but this place was different. At the tea party, these people’s businesses spanned the entire New World, whether it was Stussy’s Joy Street or Du Feld’s underground casino, there was consumption of fruit involved.

They also had their own network of relationships. If they wanted, they could sell a product worldwide within a certain time frame. With such trade routes, even selling scrap metal could earn a lot.

However, the BIG MOM Pirates and the Hundred Beasts were like the new and old pirate groups of the New World, with both captains being remnants of Rocks. The kind of meeting these people held wasn’t discussing arms trade or war operations, nor were there any crazy plans like ruling the world or kidnapping the Heavenly Celestial Dragons.

What they were discussing was selling fruit, which was truly beyond Stussy’s expectations. Not only Stussy, but others also couldn’t understand. If ordinary people had such a seemingly joking meeting with them, they might just laugh at the other party.

But the two people in front of them were pirates with a ten-digit bounty, and there were numerous islands destroyed due to offending Charlotte Linlin.

Although Kaidou had only destroyed the headquarters of an organ trafficking assassination group so far, his numerous escapes from the prison ship and his prior jailbreak from the G-number branch, along with his battle with Wald, all proved his strength.

If one laughed out loud at this moment, it would be like an old person hanging themselves, asking for trouble.

Nothing major happening is naturally the best. Although she is a government agent, agents also desire a peaceful life and don’t want to be caught up in some horrific big events.

Fruit trade has always existed in the Pirate World, and the forces under them also had their own fruit suppliers, providing different quality fruits for different clients.

Outside, a few fruits could be bought for a few hundred Belly, but in the entertainment venues of Joy Street, a fruit platter could cost tens of thousands of Belly.

It was called Joy Street, but only the wealthy could experience the joy here. If the quality of the fruit Kaidou wanted to sell was high enough, they would be happy to market it as their product.

Stussy knew whose money was easiest to earn. As long as there was a reputable name, nobles from around the world wouldn’t care about the price of the fruit as long as its taste lived up to that price.

Those nobles had money, but they weren’t fools. Even items bought by the Heavenly Celestial Dragons had to make them feel worth the money.

The physical fruit was right in front of them, and the simplest way for them was to try tasting it themselves. However, Charlotte Linlin’s reaction already explained something. Although her standards for food weren’t high, everyone liked better-tasting things.

The expression on Charlotte Linlin’s face already indicated the issue; at this moment, she was already conquered by the food.

Stussy also picked up a fork to stab the fruit in front of her. The Pecha Berry was crisp, and the moment the fork pierced the flesh, the bountiful juice spilled out.

Its overall taste was still that of a peach, but it was a whole new experience, a marvelous flavor that words couldn’t express. There was also the soft and glutinous texture of the Mago Berry and the slightly sour taste of the Sitrus Berry.

If you don’t like overly sweet flavors, the Sitrus Berry is a better choice.

Before the fruit platter was finished, other products had already been served. Chefs in the BIG MOM Pirates held a high status, and they were the most numerous in each pirate group.

The first to be served were drinks, cream puffs made with these fruits, followed closely by jelly and ice cream. Since Pecha and other new varieties were brought relatively late, most of what was served now was banana-flavored, with the rest being rushed in production.

Almost every imaginable dessert had been made by the BIG MOM Pirates. Because of these new desserts, those soul-infused Homies were nearly neglected.

Although they kept making ”Eat me” requests at the dining table, most people ignored them, with only some red tea used to cleanse the palate being noticed.

Not only at the main table but also at side tables, it was the same. Especially at the children’s table — these children were all Charlotte Linlin’s kids. It could be said that almost no one in the BIG MOM Pirates didn’t love sweets.

In the children’s tasting period, influenced by their mother, they were interested in sweets, and the large dessert workshop on Cake Island was enough to meet these demands.

In the workshop, Streusen was singing to boost the morale of his chefs. For a chef, the kitchen was their battlefield, and creating satisfactory food was their task.

”The banana donuts and donuts made with new fruits are ready. Send these to Lord Katakuri! The rest, take them to Mama, quickly!”

Ovens and freezers were running intensely; different types of desserts were sent out from here like a long dragon, while Streusen continuously experimented with new methods to see which suited these fruits best.

However, the outside food Homies seemed to have found a new path. The people in the BIG MOM Pirates were drawn to new things, but for a few pirates of the Hundred Beasts, those fruits were already something they had eaten enough of.

Especially Olga, who finally managed to go from feeling nauseous just by smelling fruit to being able to eat a small amount. Compared to those fruits, she was more interested in the roasted meat coated in honey and the slightly sweet grilled sausages.

Setsuna, Zeraora, and Elizabeth were in similar situations. Although they were omnivores, their inherent genes made them prefer meat.

The neglected Homies found new significance here; they didn’t even need anyone to move them; they queued up to jump onto the plate, waiting to be eaten.

If one could overcome psychological barriers, the soul-infused food Homies indeed had distinctly different flavors.

If the food on Cake Island were ranked by status within the BIG MOM Pirates, savory roasted meat would have originally been at the bottom. However, with today’s guests, the status of savory roasted meat underwent a drastic change.

”The outside seas are really interesting; could food here all be this fascinating?”

In front of Setsuna was a roasted pork chop trying to escape. Not all food Homies yearned to be eaten; some chose to flee.
