Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School?

“Mm, alright.”

After hanging up the call with Millian, I continued the topic with Tan Han and the others.

Although I had set visibility permissions for the call just now, the words I spoke were not too avoided.

“Little Han, that was just now...”

“Oh, I was asking someone to help me handle what I just did. After all, it won’t be long before the things we did at the arena start spreading on the Academy Network. I don’t want my normal life to be disturbed because of this.”

I explained.

“So that’s how it is.”

They didn’t ask further questions.

For example, regarding the things I said afterward, they seemed to selectively ignore them.

“By the way, where are we going next? Should Little Tan go with you first, Little Han? Or what?”

The shop manager inquired at this time.

After all, they had already been out of the arena for a while, but except for walking forward along the street, there wasn’t a specific destination yet.

“Back to the Bakery Club, of course. There’s no one in the lab these few days when school starts, and I also promised them a good relaxation break for these few days. People always need rest after being busy with these things all holiday.”

“True... but why did you choose these few days of the start of school to rest?”

“Naturally, the experiment just happened to encounter a bit of a bottleneck and needs extra searching for materials, and we’re taking a holiday along the way. Those few... are probably at the newcomer market handling some experimental by-products and such that they usually pile up.”

While I chatted with them about topics regarding Self-generating Magic Power and the laboratory, I rode my broom with them to rush toward the Bakery Club.

The shop manager’s bakery was still in that old place.

I still remembered this place was called the Xinmeng Li block, and my first dormitory was also in this place.

I took a distant look at the far side, and could only see the outlines of the villa group over there.

With the new semester starting... those fellows in the dorm should have mostly arrived by now, right?

I didn’t know what they were doing now.

“We’re here, we’re here. Haha! Yihan, did you guard the home well?”

Having reached the place, Ying Shiqian was clearly very excited.

At the very least, being at the bakery was better than being at that club recruitment place.

We had also mentioned the club recruitment just now, but in the end, the shop manager still didn’t have the heart to make Ying Shiqian go back to that place.

“Mm? Ying Shiqian, weren’t you supposed to be responsible for club recruitment work? Why are you... eh... all back?”

Tang Yihan immediately came out upon hearing the voices and movement in the back area.

She was just about to scold Ying Shiqian a few times when she found that a lot of people had suddenly come to the shop.

The shop manager and Tan Han were both there, as well as Xiao You, and......

“Hi Senior Tang Yihan, long time no see.”

I gave a warm greeting.

Senior Tang Yihan and I indeed hadn’t met for a long time.

“Little Han? You... you’ve come too? You’re already a Teaching Assistant, so stop calling me Senior...”

“It’s fine, it’s just a habit. I call Ying Shiqian ’Senior’ too and the shop manager is still the shop manager.”

I shrugged and smiled, indicating this wasn’t a problem.

“Alright.”

Tang Yihan didn’t dwell too much on this matter, accepting the statement.

“Speaking of which, is the Bakery Club back to just the few of you again, Senior Tang Yihan?”

I glanced around the surroundings and found the shop empty, with only neatly arranged bread and some “Tang Yihan Special” products in the shop.

I didn’t see the figures of other members.

“There’s no choice, our Bakery Club is just a small club and cannot provide much help to more students. The club members have all left.”

Senior Ying Shiqian said helplessly from the side.

I didn’t know when she had suddenly slipped into the cashier position, sprawling lazily there as if she had returned to that listless Ying Shiqian state.

“Not a single one left?”

“Not to the point of none left. An old fritter like me is counting on the shop manager to provide for my retirement but there are indeed a few left in the club who didn’t leave. They helped out here during the holiday and worked part-time along the way. Among the newcomers, there are also many who need to worry about money. But after school started, the shop manager sent them back. We can’t delay their class time.”

“Is that so? I’m curious to ask why these few didn’t leave?”

“Mm... because of you, Little Han. I heard those few are also your fans, members of your support group and such. Of course, there are also those who stayed because of Tan Han, like... Xiao You...”

“Oh, it looks like the situation of the Bakery Club isn’t very optimistic.”

After all, this entire club was supported by the shop manager alone.

“It indeed isn’t very optimistic, but... this club also holds my former memories, I suppose. There are so many clubs in the Witch Academy, and I used to squeeze my head to get into them, but in the end, I found that clubs... are actually just like that. Those groups wearing the cloak of a club are ultimately nothing more than tools for obtaining certain benefits. It’s better to return to the original truth and let interests gather like-minded people.”

“Shop Managers don’t make it sound so high-end and grand aren’t we opening the bakery to earn funds too? Without money, we truly can’t support the club’s operation.”

Senior Ying Shiqian spoke from the side, undermining her.

“The bakery’s turnover has always been at a level where it can’t make ends meet! You call this earning funds?”

The shop manager directly retorted.

“Don’t we still have a side business...”

Ying Shiqian turned her head and whispered, “we aren’t necessarily a serious bakery...”

“Alright, stop bickering. Want to taste this one I made?”

At this time, Tang Yihan also came out from the back area carrying her tray.

After all, she was making them in the back area just now, came out to say hello, and then went back.

“Stay... stay away from me!”

Hearing this voice, Ying Shiqian was the first to react, hurriedly waving her hand and speaking.

“Senior Tang Yihan has a new product again?”

I curiously leaned over.

Now, I wasn’t like Ying Shiqian was before, afraid of Senior Tang Yihan’s “creations.”

I was a Body Cultivator; as long as something was food, it was a form of cultivation to me.

“It’s not a new product, just donuts. The kind with sugar icing.”

Tang Yihan shook her head and said, “I originally intended to restock, but looking at the current customer flow, it’s better to digest them internally first.”

“As long as it’s not a new product, it’s fine...”

Hearing these words, Ying Shiqian leaned over again.

It seemed that even Ying Shiqian highly recognized Senior Tang Yihan’s skill; as long as it wasn’t trying new products, she loved to eat.

“Thanks.”

I also picked up one.

Just as Tang Yihan said, it was sprinkled with a layer of sugar icing.

One bite down, it was very soft, accompanied by the unique sweetness of baking, and the layer of sugar icing enriched the texture even more.

“Ah delicious. One bite down, it’s all the taste of funds.”

Senior Ying Shiqian said from the side.

“Then don’t eat it.”

Tang Yihan spoke as she passed by.

“Eh! Don’t, don’t, don’t. Let me take another one.”

After a burst of noise, I sat to the side, and indeed had that former feeling.

If the Bakery Club was as pure as a general baking interest club and every day was spent as interestingly as this, it would indeed be quite good.

I suddenly understood Ying Shiqian’s feeling of wanting to retire here.

Soon, the topic in the shop moved from donuts to unavoidable questions.

After all, for the current Bakery Club, the most important thing was undoubtedly Tan Han’s matter.

It was only natural for Tang Yihan to be concerned.

And this time, Ying Shiqian served as the main explainer.

After all, her excitement about this incident had not passed yet.

Listening to Senior Ying Shiqian recount the course of events, I could still hear some undisguised boasting, as she kept sighing about how regrettable it was that Tang Yihan hadn’t followed along.

However, although Senior Ying Shiqian spoke exaggeratedly, it was indeed the course of events.

I didn’t expect that things so ordinary in my eyes would become so full of passion in Ying Shiqian’s mouth.

Perhaps this is the perspective from which ordinary people view those geniuses?

Once upon a time, I also claimed to be an ordinary person.

Standing here by the cashier counter, I seemed to recall the conversation I had with Ying Shiqian about the Witch Meditation Method, talking about the gap between geniuses and mediocre people......

I also rarely spent a period of time in the bakery.

Acting like a guest, I chatted aimlessly with them.

In my hand was the Book in the Casket, and I flipped through the materials Big Sis Bai had organized for me regarding the Great Witch Project.

Time passed unknowingly like this.

“By the way, do you truly have no plans to advance to Transcendent Witches? Although you say that, in fact, many seniors in the academy who finished their studies years ago will unknowingly advance to Transcendent Witches in the second half of their lives.”

Actually, I estimated that most people who advanced in the second half of their lives still retained a significant portion of Magic Power Sources to maintain their life level, researching their own projects from time to time.

They were just waiting.

Waiting for a moment when they had no attachments, using this most foolish method to reduce the influence of the Earth Vein Chains on themselves.

Actually, everyone could break free from the restrictions of the Earth Vein Chains through this method, but not everyone could carry out the philosophy of advancing to Transcendent and the research of projects throughout their lives.

More ordinary people just missed the opportunity for advancement after having no more chains, and after their mindset aged, they no longer had the passion to take a step further.

Having the heart but not the strength refers to this kind of posture, right?

“Little Han you seem to have a very strange persistence. Are you still thinking of helping this salted fish of mine turn over?”

“I’m just very curious... in my world, advancing to Transcendent seems to be just a hurdle in life. Why do many people see it as the end point of life?”

“So you still have too little experience, Little Han you can’t empathize with other people’s lives, other people’s livelihoods, other people’s philosophies, other people’s thoughts. That’s why I said you have a strange persistence, not just toward me, but also toward yourself. Exactly what is it that makes you move forward untiringly?”

Senior Ying Shiqian sighed.

“Actually, I found that you understand many life principles, Senior Ying Shiqian, as if you’ve seen through the secular and mundane world at a young age...”

“Stop, stop, stop! I haven’t reached that point yet! I still have mundane desires!”

“Alright.”

Seeing Senior Ying Shiqian’s expression, I could probably guess what it was.

I estimated there was someone she couldn’t forget at Fengqing Street.

But... speaking of which, I had seemingly only been to Fengqing Street once?

Back then, I had accidentally opened the channel and gone in with Big Sis Bai, but I was taken out by Big Sis Bai before I could experience the local characteristics there.

Although it was a bit regrettable, I would make up for this regret through Big Sis Bai.

“It looks like the sky is getting dark. Remember to remind Tan Han to look for me after the newcomer enrollment ends. She won’t be able to enter the experimental area without the permission I grant. Of course, if Senior Ying Shiqian suddenly wants to make progress one day, you can come look for me too.”

“Alright we know. Don’t forget to take these with you.”

“I’ll accept the sentiment, but I’ll have to pay next time, otherwise you’ll truly become a charity bakery.”

I accepted the assorted bread baskets Ying Shiqian pushed over.

Originally, I had intended to pay.

After all, the current me was no longer the person whose steps were hindered by a little bit of money; this bit of small change truly was nothing to me.

But Senior Ying Shiqian, who was in charge of the cashier counter, insisted on not taking it, and eventually gave it to me like this.

“Don’t worry, just accept it with an easy mind. Anyway, just treat it as the shop manager’s sentiment. She has always felt she let you down. If she knew I took money for bread from you here, I’d probably be fired on the spot. Be good, just treat it as being considerate of my retirement job.”

“Then say thank you to the shop manager for me. Also, tell the shop manager that she doesn’t need to feel sorry toward me or anything. It makes it seem like she owes me something.”

“I know, take care.”

Pushing open the glass door of the bakery, I walked on the twilight street carrying various bread assembly baskets.

“Where to go next?”

My gaze extended along the street to the villa dormitory area in the distance.

Although this was a question asked to myself, it seemed as if the answer had already existed from the moment it was asked.

Xinmeng Li 2nd Block, No. 62.

This was the location of my former villa.

I took out the room card again, gave it a casual swipe, and the door opened.

And a burst of intense discussion came from within the living room.

“Oh oh oh! Great! I finally passed the make-up exam!”

This most excited voice was too distinctive; it was Hong Chenyi, the most energetic one in the dorm back then.

“Even you could pass this? Ji Niang must have given you a boost, right?”

“Wait, who was the last one to come in? Why did I hear the sound of the door opening? Wasn’t the door closed properly?”

“Don’t look at me, I was the first to rush into the villa!”

Hong Chenyi’s voice rang out.

“I remember I closed the door.”

This was Yu Yetian’s voice.

Clang—!

As the door closed again without concealment, my voice also rang out.

“You even suspected the last person didn’t close the door, and didn’t even think that I would come back? You make me too sad!”

“Eh?! Big Sis Little Han!”

“Ugh-ah! Ah ah ah! Big Sis Little Han!”

“This is too ceremonial! You actually still remembered us and came to see us on the first day of school!”

Immediately, the most excited Hong Chenyi instantly twisted and squirmed on the sofa, wanting to crawl toward me, her mouth even making some strange and excited sounds.

“I didn’t expect you were all here, what were you just chatting about? I seemed to hear something about a make-up exam? What is it?”

I walked over curiously and found all four of them were there, and they were on the sofa without any avoidance, as if they were discussing matters.

“Eh? It actually wasn’t a make-up exam... a second chance! It was the second chance for course exemption given by Ji Niang! But I grabbed it. I’m now also someone with a course exemption for this semester! Hahaha cough... cough cough... ah...”

At this time, Hong Chenyi immediately explained, to the point that she was too happy and lost herself, coughing.
