Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School?

“Eh? You are...”

Suddenly being hugged by a figure like this, and hearing a voice that was somewhat unfamiliar yet somewhat familiar, I truly didn’t connect this person with anyone I knew.

But just from listening to this voice and the tone of speech, I could be very sure... this person joking with me was definitely a Transcendent Witch!

“As expected, you still forgot. Don’t you remember Big Sis Chris?”

Following the words spoken by this witch calling herself Chris in a dejected tone, she also released her hands.

“Eh? Big Sis Chris?”

Hearing this name, relatively distant memories also surfaced.

Although called relatively “distant,” in reality, it was only about a bit more than one semester.

Roughly during that period when I first became completely famous, I had gotten to know this Big Sis Chris.

I turned my head to look at her, only to be directly met by two wicked hands pinching my cheeks.

“Geez it looks like you haven’t forgotten after all.”

Chris said with a smile.

Witch Chris was one of the idlest witches among the group of Transcendent Witch mentors when I first became famous.

Back then, she was also the one who made me understand that as long as they were witches, they all liked to be called “Big Sis.”

She belonged to the type who was familiar with everyone; whenever she met me, she would pinch my cheeks...

“Big Sis Chris would actually be at the arena too?”

After cooperating with being rubbed, I also asked curiously.

I truly hadn’t expected that a competitive match between students would actually attract witch mentors to come and watch.

But once I thought about her being a big idle person of the Witch Academy, a street-wandering witch, I suddenly felt it didn’t seem very strange.

“Of course this place, the arena, is somewhere even Transcendent Witches sometimes come to watch. However, many Transcendent Witches will be constrained by their status and won’t appear in public places. But I’m different.”

“Different? So Big Sis Chris appeared here openly, right?”

“Why do you say it as if I don’t care about my reputation? I actually rarely come to the arena side. And coming over this time was only because of an accident.”

Chris sat down to the side with a smile, completely disregarding her status as a mentor.

“Accident?”

“Yeah, are you curious, Little Han? If you guess correctly why I came, I’ll take you to watch a good show.”

“This... how am I supposed to guess that?”

Looking at Chris’s expectant smile, I felt a bit troubled for a moment.

However, I still thought about it very calmly.

Chris coming to the arena was definitely not for no reason.

And if she wanted to handle some business, there was no need to come here.

Since she could see me and approach me soundlessly while shielding my perception, it was likely also related to me.

Otherwise... she couldn’t have just come over for no reason just to pinch my cheeks, right?

But a clue soon flashed through my mind, because my Shadow of Knowledge instinctively retrieved the keyword “Chris” within the Great Tree of Knowledge.

And after tracing the source, I found that the information originated from the information shared with Tan Han’s appraisal data.

“Wait... Big Sis Chris, your... um... your Teaching Assistant wouldn’t happen to be the one on the field, would she?”

“Eh? You even found such an outrageous relationship, Little Han? Did you use the Great Tree of Knowledge to cheat?”

Chris spoke in surprise, and her tone indeed confirmed my statement just now.

“Big Sis Chris didn’t say I couldn’t use other means to cheat?”

I said with a smile, looking like I was about to make excuses.

“Alright, alright consider your guess correct. Aha my little assistant ran to the arena behind my back to challenge a lower-grade student. As her mentor, I naturally have to come and join the fun... ah no, it’s to supervise a bit. Usually not doing proper work, and all she does is come here to make things difficult for her junior, truly forgetting all the things I usually taught her.”

“Ah, this...”

Regarding Chris’s motive, I was also a bit speechless at this moment, but I truly hadn’t expected that this duel of Tan Han’s would actually draw out a mentor.

“Ah look at this worthless little assistant of mine, also a Teaching Assistant...”

Chris spoke in this manner, her gaze constantly shifting between me and the match field, “Why is the gap just so large?”

“Um... don’t look at me, I’m not too clear about it either...”

“Alright, no more jokes. Although that little fellow April ultimately didn’t live up to my expectations as I hoped, she was usually quite useful. It’s just a pity... in the end, she still chose her family, huh...”

“So... did she fail to cross the Earth Vein Chains?”

I asked tentatively.

“I suppose so. Since she has already chosen such a result, then she must face the price of such a choice. So I came over.”

Chris spoke in this manner, and even her tone lacked the very relaxed meaning from just now.

Although there was no explicit regulation stating what a Teaching Assistant must do at a certain time, since the choice of a Teaching Assistant was full of subjectivity, then once you could no longer meet the mentor’s expectations, the final outcome would similarly have no room for maneuvering.

“It looks like I need to look for a new Teaching Assistant. Little Han do you have any recommendations?”

“Me? I don’t know many friends...”

“That’s true too. Little Han is usually so busy, you truly can’t help me look for a new little assistant. What a pity.”

Chris let out a sigh, then shifted the topic elsewhere again, “Little Han, do you think I should go down now and just haul that little assistant of mine away, or wait until this match is over to haul her away? After all, a Teaching Assistant bullying a lower-grade student, honestly, the fact that she can do such a thing makes me feel ashamed for her.”

“Um... better after the match.”

“I also think after the match would be very good. After all, the spectators on the match field are so passionate, it wouldn’t be good for me to just interrupt their interest like this. The other person on the field is Tan Han, right?”

“Yes.”

“The magic wand in her hand is very interesting.”

“The magic wand in Tan Han’s hand is called the Wand of Absolute Cold, made from a [Transcendent Knowledge] fragment. By the way, does Big Sis Chris know any inside information regarding this?”

I asked.

“Eh? You’re asking me this, Little Han? Do I look like I would know?”

“Well, I’m just asking with the thought of giving it a try. After all, quite a few students in the academy have broken their heads and used every means possible for this [Transcendent Knowledge].”

“Is that so? This truly is interesting.”

At this point, I didn’t continue this topic.

Since Big Sis Chris didn’t speak clearly, then regardless of whether Chris knew the inside story or not, Chris ultimately wouldn’t say anything.

After all, I wasn’t the only one present here.

But it had to be said that Chris’s arrival indeed disrupted some of my thoughts, especially her relationship with that Teaching Assistant, which would make the development of many things afterward full of drama.

Originally, I had planned to simply help Tan Han out after this match ended.

If Tan Han still won, then many troubles could be omitted.

I could use my status as a Teaching Assistant to request Tan Han to cooperate with me for experiments.

Although this wasn’t mandatory, as long as there were conditions Tan Han couldn’t refuse, I could forcibly pluck Tan Han out of the sight of those people.

This was equivalent to transferring Tan Han’s trouble onto me, and I gambled that they wouldn’t dare to take action against me.

If Tan Han failed this challenge, then those people would take this opportunity to carry out the next step of their plan for Tan Han, whether it was plotting to seize the Wand of Absolute Cold, or targeting Tan Han to seize Destiny and conduct a struggle for Destiny.

At that time, it would also be time for me to appear on stage.

They could indeed conduct a struggle for Destiny openly and justly, but wanting to forcibly seize the Wand of Absolute Cold wasn’t something a clumsy reason like “your strength is not worthy of possessing this kind of weapon” could justify.

If they truly held such thoughts, then it would conversely become simple; I could use that reason they said themselves to reasonably occupy everything of theirs.

But unfortunately, those people should have some brains, and they definitely also knew I was on the scene.

To truly carry out such a thing, they would have to be out of their minds.

Therefore, even if Tan Han ultimately failed, I could still protect Tan Han and her Wand of Absolute Cold and reasonably pluck her out of this situation, not giving them an opportunity for their next move.

But many things after failure would still be irrecoverable for Tan Han.

Even if she was fighting a Teaching Assistant, there was no room for error.

But it didn’t matter.

When I decided to help Tan Han, I had already thought of a series of arrangements.

The reason I would take Tan Han away wasn’t fabricated out of thin air, but actually existed.

That was... the experiment for the Self-generating Magic Power project.

Even if Tan Han ended with a failure, once Tan Han appeared on stage again with the posture of Self-generating Magic Power, she would similarly have a chance to win back everything.

This experiment ultimately needed to be promoted; relying on me alone, or Yi Rui and the others, was of no use.

In the beginning, I had envisioned letting Millian choose some representative students among my support group to try it out.

But my concern about the quality of the support group was truly great, and most importantly, I wasn’t familiar with them, so the idea of promoting Self-generating Magic Power was still in its embryonic stage.

And Millian herself was also not suitable to be the main subject for promotion and publicity; at least compared to Tan Han, she wasn’t suitable.

At least in the beginning, the people from the support group weren’t suitable.

What about... Tan Han?

As a lower-grade student who had just started her second year in the new semester, she had reached the level of fighting an enemy at the Teaching Assistant level by relying on the Wand of Absolute Cold.

If she were used to promote Self-generating Magic Power, she would naturally be a living advertisement, and it would also provide an opportunity along the way to remove the “Wand of Absolute Cold” title from Tan Han.

And... I glanced around.

Although Tan Han’s support group had disbanded because of a setback, the number of people truly still supporting Tan Han was still not small.

Although a physical talent like Self-generating Magic Power indeed sounded very formidable, in the absence of specific examples, many people had no concept of it.

Although I myself was an example, I didn’t want to promote it using myself like that; this would cause many unnecessary misunderstandings.

I believed that if Tan Han possessed Self-generating Magic Power, with a number of Magic Power Sources far exceeding the 10,000 limit and the powerful Magic Power affinity granted by physical talent, even without a Super Consumption Spellbook, Tan Han could bridge this gap.

Of course, the Self-generating Magic Power physical talent was more primarily about the removal of the 10,000 limit for Magic Power Sources and the ability to learn and use the Magic Power Source condensation technique.

This meant she could become stronger autonomously.

At least at the current stage, this was the greatest advantage of Self-generating Magic Power, and also the most direct advantage.

Furthermore, as the number of Magic Power Sources increased, the recovery effect of Magic Power would also become more terrifying.

A spell turret that didn’t need to worry about mana consumption was the purest crushing force in battle!

And now... the appearance of Big Sis Chris indeed added many extra variables to this final situation.

Of course, no matter what the final outcome was, based on the appearance of Big Sis Chris and the exchange I had with Big Sis Chris just now, the development of events seemed to be in my favor.

And the facts were indeed so.

In some place in the arena, those students who were watching my stand at all times were practically dumbfounded.

This Unrestricted Competition between Tan Han and that Teaching Assistant named April was actually being followed by many clubs and groups in the academy.

The reason they followed Tan Han was naturally because Tan Han was the one sticking her head out in this “Struggle for Destiny.”

Plus, she still had the Wand of Absolute Cold now, which made it full of gimmicks.

No one liked to see a genius rising; they only liked to see a genius fall.

Whether Tan Han won or lost, it would create a wave of heat on the Academy Network, but the final result would all be for the purpose of suppressing Tan Han.

If she failed, they would trample on her; if she succeeded, they would praise her, and then once she finally failed, the higher she was praised, the harder she would fall.

Why were there so many people cheering for Tan Han in the arena right now?

Aside from those who sincerely supported Tan Han, many people were actually there because of the influence brought by the victory after Tan Han proactively challenged that Teaching Assistant.

Right now, Tan Han was in a praised posture; once she failed, she would receive a backlash from her previous victory.

Originally, this was the plan of those people, and such a method was already very familiar to them.

So now they were all waiting for such a result; whether she won or lost, Tan Han had no room for error.

In fact, many people didn’t have a positive outlook for Tan Han in this battle.

After all, the opponent she faced was the Teaching Assistant named April.

If the previous Teaching Assistant was merely egged on to target Tan Han, just as Lillianna was arranged to provoke that “Yang Yuehan” Teaching Assistant back then.

Then this second match was a meticulously prepared setup.

Teaching Assistant April’s strength was beyond doubt.

As an established Teaching Assistant, she wasn’t one of those idiots who would be egged on to get themselves killed as soon as their heads got hot.

What’s more, she was willing to take action for her family, for this final contribution.

Her status as a Teaching Assistant was about to come to an end; this was the main reason she would agree to lower her status to target Tan Han, because she no longer had any concerns.

The plot was supposed to develop this way, and many people didn’t hold a positive outlook on Tan Han’s victory—until that Teaching Assistant named “Yang Yuehan” appeared in the arena.

Her appearance immediately made many people feel as if they were facing a great enemy!

So those people who originally only came to follow the situation, after reporting this circumstance, were given an additional task: to monitor the movements of this “Yang Yuehan” Teaching Assistant at all times.

And after calming down, many people also realized they were a bit over-reactive.

Even if this legendary little witch Teaching Assistant’s reputation was great, what could she do alone?

They were targeting Tan Han, not her.

Even if this Teaching Assistant wanted to help, how would she help?

Cause a huge scene in the arena?

That was meaningless!

But before they could put their hearts at ease, they were met with another piece of bad news!

This “Yang Yuehan” Teaching Assistant actually “invited” over the mentor followed by Teaching Assistant April!

They didn’t know why Mentor Chris had come, but regardless of the reason, the fact was that she had come.

And she was also chatting and laughing with that “Yang Yuehan” Teaching Assistant...

This overwhelming sense of intimidation seemed to be mocking their incompetence.

No matter how they laid out their plans or how they calculated, such a dimensionality reduction attack made everything of theirs become completely meaningless!
