Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 948: Chapter 948: The Little Nencao That Caught My Eye

”Mr. Yan’s chess skills aren’t good?” Shuangshuang asked.

”Not just not good! He’s a terrible player, getting worse with every game.” With Cheng Yue joining him in chess, Yan Luquan couldn’t despise his own son enough.

”That’s all I needed to hear! Don’t you ever ask me to play chess again! I hold grudges,” Yan Ye expressed disdain for his father’s behavior.

After three rounds were over.

Feng Yuzhi’s dinner was almost ready.

”That’s enough! Dinner’s ready, stop playing,” Feng Yuzhi said as she began to gather up the dishes and utensils.

An Hao and Shuangshuang quickly went into the kitchen to help bring out the dishes.

”I’ll be there in a moment,” Yan Luquan, who was too addicted to the game to let go, protested, ”It’s rare to find such a strong opponent!”

His skill level was almost equal to his.

”What do you mean in a moment? It’s always a hassle to call you for meals!” Feng Yuzhi didn’t allow any arguments and stepped forward to flip the chessboard over.

”This is unreasonable,” Yan Luquan sighed to Cheng Yue, ”You can’t marry someone like this in the future.”

”How annoying! Old man, what are you saying in front of the kids?”

The dinner was all set.

As everyone washed their hands and sat at the table, Feng Yuzhi noticed that Huanhuan’s seat was still empty.

”Huanhuan! Huanhuan!” she called out loud in the corridor, ”What’s the matter with you? Dinner has started, come down now. It’s your brother’s birthday today, don’t dawdle!”

”Got it.” Huanhuan upstairs had heard the commotion below already.

But she just didn’t dare to come out.

The small accident that had happened with Cheng Yue at school had left her, usually straightforward and carefree, feeling a bit embarrassed and awkward.

So, she had heard Cheng Yue and the others’ voices a while ago, but because she was a little embarrassed, she hid upstairs and didn’t come down for a long time.

Yan Huan tidied herself up a bit upstairs.

Today she had taken off her military uniform and put on a white shirt and jeans. She used a comb to make her messy short hair neat and smooth before finally going downstairs.

Descending from upstairs, she saw Cheng Yue’s eyes turn towards her.

Yan Huan felt a little unnatural, not knowing what to say.

Li Zhi suddenly yelled enthusiastically, ”PLA sister! What a coincidence! I never expected to meet you here! I never imagined my beautiful Yan Huan sister would actually be Professor Yan’s sister.”

A pair of unnatural blushes appeared on Yan Huan’s face, ”Alright, stop nagging.”

Li Zhi chuckled twice, ”Where am I nagging? It’s such a pity that I’ve only met Yan Huan sister now, we’re truly kindred spirits.”

Feng Yuzhi listened to their conversation, her eyes measuring Li Zhi and Shuangshuang back and forth.

She was overjoyed inside, wondering if the Little Nencao that Yan Huan mentioned was this kid?

He looked decent and had a sweet mouth, the key point being he was also a kid from the military compound!

That gave her peace of mind.

She too hoped that Yan Huan would end up with a soldier!

Cheng Yue caught a glimpse of Feng Yuzhi’s face and saw an expression that seemed quite meaningful.

Not knowing what was on his mind, he casually picked up a steamed bun from in front of him and stuffed it into Li Zhi’s mouth. ”Still saying you’re not nagging, you talk too much.”

The dinner table hadn’t had such a lively atmosphere in a long time, and having a few young people around really made it nice.

Not just Yan Luquan was in a good mood; even Feng Yuzhi felt happy.

If her daughter really took a liking to this Little Nencao, Feng Yuzhi wouldn’t have any objections.

”Alright, let’s not mess around anymore,” An Hao said, sensing the mood was just about right, addressing Cheng Yue, ”You represent our feelings and express our gratitude to the teacher on behalf of all of us.”
