Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 940: Chapter 940: Investigating Responsibility

”How was the patient treated? Who handled it?” Ma Mei left the ward and came to the nurses’ station, asking about what had just happened.

”Doctor An handled it,” the nurse told the truth, ”The patient suddenly had this condition, and it scared me a lot. I rushed to wake you up, but no matter how much I called, I couldn’t wake you. The patient was having convulsions, and we couldn’t wait any longer, so I had to go find an intern doctor.”

”So, you’re saying that everything was done under An Hao’s guidance?”

”Yes.” The nurse nodded, her heart still racing as she recalled the scene, ”I didn’t trust this new intern at first, but she turned out to be very calm and composed, with quick and accurate judgment, especially her confidence. She really does have a bit of Director Yan’s air about her! No wonder she was able to intern here so early.”

Hearing the nurse give An Hao such high praise made Ruan Fangfang feel quite uncomfortable, ”You’re quite bold yourself, carrying out her orders! Aren’t you afraid of the consequences? Can’t you take responsibility on your own? She’s just an intern, she doesn’t even have a license to practice.”

”I know, but in that situation, I didn’t have any other choice!” said the nurse.

She was actually a nurse with a very strong sense of responsibility. If they had done nothing in that situation, any problems that arose afterward would have nothing to do with them.

The issue would have to be borne by both Doctor Lu and Doctor Ma.

But for the sake of the patient, although An Hao’s treatment was against the rules, she did save the patient’s life.

”How did this severe allergy suddenly occur? How many sets of fluids were there?” Since such a situation had occurred, Ma Mei had to investigate the problem to see where things went wrong.

There were two sets of fluids.

The first set had been infused smoothly without any issues.

But the second set...

As the nurse spoke, she suddenly remembered something that happened halfway through, ”I remember now. Nurse Xiaoliu was changing the second set of fluids; there were only two units left of penicillin. When Ruan Doctor entered the nurses’ station, she accidentally knocked it over. When we went to get medicine with the prescription, we were told it would take at least four hours for the medicine to arrive. So, Ruan Doctor changed the prescription. She replaced penicillin with amoxicillin.”

At the time, she had even asked Ruan Fangfang if that was alright.

Ruan Fangfang confidently said it was no problem and changed the prescription on the medicine form from penicillin to amoxicillin.

Who would have thought that when the nurses changed shifts, Xiaoliu mentioned it briefly; she didn’t pay it much attention, and never expected it to lead to this situation.

Just then, An Hao also walked over, just in time to hear about this incident.

So, she questioned Ruan Fangfang, ”Since there was a problem, why didn’t you go to Teacher Ma to prescribe new medicine? How could you just take matters into your own hands! Moreover, even if you used amoxicillin, why didn’t you do a skin test beforehand? Don’t you even know the most basic common sense?”

If it were a rural doctor who didn’t know any better, that would be one thing.

She was about to graduate from Medical University!

”How could I not know! Penicillin and amoxicillin are from the same class. If the patient isn’t allergic to penicillin, how could they be allergic to amoxicillin?” Ruan Fangfang already knew there must have been a problem but refused to admit it out loud.
