Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 904: Chapter 904: Seizing the Opportunity

This thing is commonly found in the mountains, but once it’s transported out, the price will double.

The most important thing is that it doesn’t cost anything.

Tian Niu’s mother heard someone calling her and looked up to see Cuihua’s parents had arrived.

”Oh, you two don’t visit often.” She struggled to stand up from the ground, pounded her already stiff back with her hand, and then shouted to her younger sister Gu Li, who was busy working, ”Your aunt and uncle are here, quickly bring some water over.”

”No need to hurry, we came over today to ask about Tian Niu’s marriage prospects,” Cuihua’s mother said, getting straight to the point, ”I heard Tian Niu and his girlfriend from the city broke up?”

At the mention of this, Tian Niu’s mother felt a wave of pain: ”That’s right, her family is from the city, they asked for too much dowry, we couldn’t afford it, so they had to break up.”

Cuihua’s mother was delighted to hear this.

Seizing the opportunity, she quickly said to Tian Niu’s mother: ”You know our Cuihua! Aside from being a bit chubby, she doesn’t have any serious flaws. Plus, the girl is quite capable and has been thinking about your Tian Niu nonstop. Moreover, we’re aware of what happened with Boss in your family. Given your family’s situation, you really cannot afford a dowry. Our Cuihua is very understanding, she told us about the situation and asked us to propose marriage; we don’t want a penny for the dowry.”

Not asking for dowry money was definitely a big deal in the village.

Just for that reason alone, it would make many people interested.

”You really are good parents,” Tian Niu’s mother couldn’t help but remark.

If only Gu Shuangshuang’s parents could have been so understanding, wouldn’t Tian Niu and Shuangshuang’s relationship have worked out? How happy the two children would be!

”What good parents we are makes no difference, isn’t it all for the sake of the children?” Cuihua’s mother said.

”Right, right, right,” Cuihua’s father said with a face full of honesty, ”Actually, in our village, what’s the use of marrying a beautiful wife? As long as she can bear children, that’s fine.”

”You do have a point,” Tian Niu’s mother agreed, nodding her head.

”Look at our Cuihua, she’s plump, her physique looks robust! She appears to have no trouble bearing children. Isn’t a man marrying a wife all about continuing the family line?” Cuihua’s father said.

”So are you here today to propose a marriage match?” Tian Niu’s mother finally caught on to their intentions.

”Yes, I’ve always thought that Cuihua and your son are a good match,” Cuihua’s mother said, ”So, I came to ask and see what Team Leader Tian thinks. If he’s willing, then let’s become in-laws!”

While speaking, Cuihua’s father took out a stack of money from his pocket and placed it on the table, ”I know your family is facing difficulties, so we won’t ask for dowry money. This little sum is a small token of our thoughts for Boss, and also part of Cuihua’s dowry. We’re giving it in advance to you today. Whether it works out or not, we’re waiting for a definite answer from you tomorrow.”

At that time, Tian Niu had just returned from the train station and saw Cuihua’s parents were there.

Seeing the stack of money on the table, he already understood most of what was happening.

”Tian Niu, come sit down. Let’s talk about your situation,” Tian Niu’s mother beckoned him over without even waiting for him to catch his breath.

Tian Niu obediently took a seat.

”Son, you’re not getting any younger, and now this is the situation in front of us. Cuihua still wants to marry you. Her family isn’t asking for a dowry, they’re even offering us money. We don’t have any objections, now it mainly depends on what you think.”
