Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 916: Chapter 916 Communication Among the Older Generation

”The key is to figure out the reason he kidnapped my sister-in-law! Once that’s clear, everything else will be easier to handle.”

Qin Jian nodded. If Luo Gang really was someone Cheng Yu had brought in.

It seemed some matters would require the old man to step in.

...............

An Hao had packed up her things and spent a warm night with Qin Jian.

The next day, she returned to Nancheng with the medical team.

As soon as she left, Qin Jian called Ning Yibin and briefed him about the incidents that occurred during the holiday.

The most important part was mentioning Cheng Yu.

Ning Yibin felt his head grow twice as large.

The two children of the Cheng Nanfang family were really no easy matter.

Of all people, they had to set their sights on his son and daughter-in-law.

Cheng Nanfang’s son was still manageable, being a student with a relatively simple mind, and knowing that An Hao was married, he gave up pursuing her.

This Cheng Yu, being about the same age as Qin Jian, was much more deep and calculating.

It seemed he must communicate with Cheng Nanfang at his earliest opportunity.

He could no longer let his two children act recklessly.

Ning Yibin ended the call from Qin Jian and then made a call to Cheng Nanfang.

Cheng Nanfang was in a very good mood when he received the call; he and Ning Yibin were old acquaintances. Despite not having seen each other for a long time, a phone call still felt very cordial.

But this time, Ning Yibin didn’t chat about family matters as usual.

He seriously and earnestly informed Cheng Nanfang about his daughter’s actions.

After listening, Cheng Nanfang was shocked for quite a while before saying over the phone, ”Rest assured, I will definitely discipline my daughter sternly!”

Qi Siyuan had prepared a full table of delicious dishes, as her son and daughter were heading to Nancheng City the next day.

One to work and the other to study, it would be a long time before they could return.

So, tonight, while everyone was together, they decided to have a lively and warm family meal.

The table was already set with bowls and chopsticks, and Qi Siyuan had even prepared a bottle of red wine especially.

Her son and daughter were seated at the table, with only Cheng Nanfang yet to join.

”Old Cheng, hurry up, what are you dilly-dallying for? The food’s getting cold,” Qi Siyuan called out loudly.

After a moment, Cheng Nanfang moved from the living room to the dining room, but the smile that had been on his face had now disappeared.

”Whose call was it?” Qi Siyuan asked as she poured him some wine.

Cheng Nanfang picked up his glass and downed it in one go.

”Look at you! You drink red wine as if it were white, you can’t just gulp it down, you’ve got to savor it slowly. Right, Xiao Yu?” Qi Siyuan asked her daughter with a smile, knowing that after spending so many years abroad, she would know more about coffee and red wine than they did.

Cheng Yu gave a small smile, ”Let Dad drink however he wants, Mom!”

”Such a barbarian,” Qi Siyuan shook her head.

”That’s what a real man looks like, you all wouldn’t understand,” Cheng Yue chimed in.

The atmosphere at the dinner table was quite relaxed. Normally, Cheng Nanfang would have already been smiling.

But today, his face remained stern throughout.

”Old Cheng, what’s the matter?” Qi Siyuan noticed something was off with him.

”Seriously. Old Cheng, you’re kind of killing the mood today,” Cheng Yue said, unable to bear his hunger any longer and grabbing a piece of meat with his chopsticks and stuffing it into his mouth.

This was just a joking remark from Cheng Yue.

But Cheng Nanfang, with a grim face, slammed his palm on the table, causing the cups, plates, and bowls on it to rattle loudly.

It also gave the mother and her two children a start.

”Old Cheng, what’s gotten into you today?” His attitude was inexplicably infuriating, making Qi Siyuan yell at him.
