Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 937: Chapter 937 Regarding That Mysterious Man

Cheng Nanfang and Qi Siyuan had pretty much finished their conversation, and it was time to leave, so the two prepared to leave.

Suddenly, Cheng Nanfang seemed to remember something and said to An Hao, ”I heard about that day from your father, he said there was a man who kidnapped you. He didn’t hurt you, did he?”

”Not really. But he looked very fierce! I know he must have some connection with Teacher Cheng.”

”This man’s name is Luo Gang,” Cheng Nanfang said with deep regret, ”He used to be a very excellent scout, who killed countless enemies on the Nanyue battlefield. But he made a serious mistake later and was dismissed from the military.”

”Uncle Cheng, do you know him?”

”Sort of,” Cheng Nanfang nodded, ”This kid has always been devoted to Cheng Yu, but Cheng Yu never took a fancy to him.”

”No wonder,” Qi Siyuan said, looking down at Qin Jian’s photo, ”Compared to Qin Jian, Luo Gang is indeed much less impressive.”

”Loving someone isn’t just about appearances, right?” An Hao disagreed with Cheng Yu’s preferences, ”What’s inside a person is far more important than their appearance.”

”Yes! Actually, Luo Gang was also a legend on the battlefield back in the day, a rare sharpshooter with quick loading speed and deadly accuracy—a shot for a kill, never missing his target.” If it hadn’t been for Cheng Yu, he wouldn’t have ended up like this.

Luo Gang’s tragedy was entirely caused by Cheng Yu.

However, after promising to insert two bullets that year, Luo Gang also vanished soon after.

As his father, he had always wanted to talk to Luo Gang but never found the chance.

Thinking about this, he felt he had let down Luo Gang’s father.

Over the years, he had been sending people to inquire about Luo Gang’s whereabouts, but perhaps Luo Gang had deliberately been avoiding him, never letting him find out anything.

If it hadn’t been for An Hao’s kidnapping, and Qin Jian informing Ning Yibin, who then called him, he would never have thought that Luo Gang could still show up.

”What kind of mistake did such an outstanding warrior make on the battlefield?” Zhang Yun was utterly confused.

”He...” Cheng Nanfang hadn’t finished speaking when he felt a sudden pang of heartache.

”Alright, let’s not ask anymore,” Ning Yibin patted Zhang Yun’s hand, ”These things are all in the past and not important anymore.”

”No. They’re very important,” Cheng Nanfang said, clutching his chest, ”It’s a very heartbreaking matter to talk about.”

Luo Gang was the best soldier under his command!

He and Luo Gang’s father had a superior-subordinate relationship.

Luo Gang and Cheng Yu grew up together, and when it was time to go to the battlefield, Cheng Yu insisted on going with him.

But once on the battlefield, Cheng Yu took a fancy to Qin Jian, and a dispute erupted between her and Luo Gang.

The nature of Luo Gang and Cheng Yu’s relationship had always been unclear, somewhere between lovers and friends.

But it was obvious to any discerning person that Luo Gang had intentions toward Cheng Yu.

Cheng Yu was always hesitant.

No one expected that a single artillery shell falling on the battlefield could change the course of two people’s destiny.

Cheng Yu took a liking to Qin Jian, and just as they were leaving the battlefield, two bullets pierced her head.

When she was taken to the operating room, Luo Gang was still on the battlefield.

Later, no one knows who mentioned it, but someone told Luo Gang that Cheng Yu was injured and her life was in danger.

Luo Gang, amidst a breakout by the rest of the warriors, actually deserted them, abandoning all his brothers-in-arms without a second thought.

Many of those warriors were new recruits, with little battlefield experience, and were then deprived of proper leadership.

So except for Luo Gang, who fled, the others were almost all killed on the battlefield.
