Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1945: Chapter 1947: Better Not to Burden the Next Generation

In the countryside, people believe that fallen leaves should return to their roots and rest peacefully in the earth. When someone is dying, even if they are in the hospital, when they’re truly on their last breath, they are taken home to pass away there, especially the elderly.

So, for Deng Weixia to take her home meant they were opting not to treat her anymore.

Upon hearing this, Deng Weiqiu raised his head and looked at Deng Weixia. His mouth opened as if wanting to say something, but his throat seemed to be stuck, and he couldn’t utter a single word.

In truth, everyone understood that Deng Weixia’s decision was the right one for them.

If Deng Weixia’s family were wealthy, then they might spend some money to try treatments, and later could hire someone to care for the aunt. But the fact is, Deng Weixia’s family is so poor they’re living hand to mouth. One person works to support several, so where would the money come from?

The most important point is, for the aunt in this state, even with treatment, she would only live a few more days. The surgery’s success is also uncertain!

Making this decision is the correct choice and for both Deng Weixia and her aunt, it could be seen as a release.

Cheng Su visited Deng Weixia’s second son and consulted the doctor about her aunt’s condition. The doctors advised against further treatment, so Cheng Su left some money, discussed with them briefly, and went home.

”How is it? How is the person?” Mother Cheng asked.

Cheng Su rubbed her forehead and said, ”The doctors said even if they did surgery, it might not improve her condition. Whether she can endure it or not is uncertain, so it’s better not to torment her and allow her to leave peacefully.”

Mother Cheng was slightly taken aback, ”Does this mean she’s not going to make it?”

Cheng Su nodded, ”It’s likely a matter of days. They will take her home tomorrow.”

”Alas.” Mother Cheng sighed.

Father Cheng said, ”Shouldn’t you also inform your mother-in-law? It’s such a significant matter.”

Cheng Su replied, ”I’ll let Deng Weixia tell her.”

”That’s a good idea, it’s their family’s business, don’t overstep. If anything goes wrong...it’s up to them to handle it.” Father Cheng said.

Mother Cheng added, ”Ah, it’s all fate.”

Cheng Su remained silent.

”Since the decision is made, it’s just a few days’ matter. When the time comes, they might notify you about the funeral. While you can’t help physically, offering financial support is crucial, as it’s the last chance to help!” Father Cheng said, ”Considering the situation regarding Taiguo, if you have the means, lend a hand.”

Cheng Su nodded.

She’s offering financial help mainly out of consideration for Deng Weixia, knowing he genuinely lives seriously and works diligently. If he were the type to waste their lives, she wouldn’t bother helping!

Besides, this time really is the last time, it can be counted as funeral money.

Who knows what kind of feelings the aunt would have knowing the children’s decision for her? Now she’s lying half dead and unaware of anything, which might be for the best, sparing her from distress.

But Cheng Su didn’t expect her mother-in-law would call after learning the news, accusing her of being cold-hearted, unwilling to help, and coldly watching the aunt await death, saying Cheng Su lacks sympathy.

Cheng Su didn’t argue back, instead she asked, ”Even if she were saved, how dignified and carefree could her life be? Passing away would be final, and at least she wouldn’t suffer and burden her descendants with debts. Wasn’t it your idea all along not to leave debts for the children to shoulder? It’s better she doesn’t implicate them, right?”

Mother Qi was dumbfounded, left speechless by her.
