Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1904: Chapter 1906: Calm Acceptance

The two of them sat on the bed, silently facing each other, as if even the air was quiet.

Qi Xiaoqi, behind them, couldn’t bear it anymore and coughed twice. Qi Taiguo then turned his head, meeting his son’s big obsidian-like eyes.

Qi Taiguo pulled him over to sit on his lap and asked, ”Did you have fun at Grandfather Cheng’s house?”

Qi Xiaoqi rolled his eyes speechlessly. This opening line was too childish; couldn’t he say something more constructive?

Having been looked down upon by his son, Qi Taiguo awkwardly glanced at Cheng Su cautiously.

”Have you talked it over with mom and dad? Does everyone in the family know?” Cheng Su asked him.

Qi Taiguo nodded, ”Yes, I’ve told them all.”

Cheng Su nodded and asked, ”What’s the main purpose of going to Aid Africa this time?”

Qi Taiguo was taken aback.

”When I was at the Cheng family’s place, I heard the old man mention that there are many types of Aid Africa, including medical Aid Africa. What are you going there for?” Cheng Su asked, ”Is it for war?”

”Specifically, there are no documents yet; it’s just that a group of people needs to be sent for Aid Africa. Actually, it’s just a replacement; there was already a group that went before, and we’re replacing them.” Qi Taiguo said, ”So, it’s not necessarily for war.”

Cheng Su frowned and said, ”You don’t know the purpose yet? You’re about to leave.”

Her tone was calm, which made Qi Taiguo breathe a sigh of relief and say, ”It’s hard to say about things up there, anyway, don’t worry!”

Cheng Su shook her head and looked at him, ”I can’t help but worry. The conditions over there are tough, especially with so many viruses. I’m afraid the place you’re going to is a virus-restricted area, or something like that. Even if it’s not for war, it’s a terrifying existence, equivalent to an infectious area.”

Qi Taiguo’s heart skipped a beat, and he looked at her and said, ”You’re thinking too much, not necessarily...”

”Since there are no documents yet, then anything is possible, right? What I mean is, can you ask Ning Gang about it?” Cheng Su said, ”At least we can be prepared in advance.”

Qi Taiguo said, ”You’re letting me go?”

Cheng Su laughed at herself, ”If I said no, would you not go? We both know that no matter how much I make a fuss, this is something that can’t be changed, right?”

Who’s to blame that he’s a soldier!

Qi Taiguo didn’t speak, just a hint of guilt flashed in his eyes.

Cheng Su didn’t look at his eyes, turned her eyes away, and looked at their wedding photo hanging on the wall, saying, ”Since it can’t be stopped, we can only accept it. But acceptance is one thing, it’s still necessary to investigate clearly at least for a bit more security for your life, right? Do as much preparation as possible.”

”Hmm, I will ask him about it,” Qi Taiguo said.

”What time are you leaving tomorrow morning?” Cheng Su asked again.

Qi Taiguo said, ”Around ten o’clock.”

”Alright.”

Cheng Su glanced at the time on her wristwatch and said, ”Since that’s the case, let’s all go out for a meal, consider it a send-off for you.”

With that, she stood up.

Too calm, this made Qi Taiguo feel more uneasy and guilty. He grabbed her hand, ”Susu...”

Does she blame him?

If she made a fuss, he would still feel that she was full of emotion and life. But such calm acceptance made him feel a panic in his heart, unable to settle down. Is this the despicable nature of humans?

He would rather she cry and make a fuss than accept it this calmly, cold and rejecting, as if she were an outsider.

Cheng Su glanced at his hand, saying, ”I’m going to wash my face.”

With that, she walked out of the room without turning back.

Qi Taiguo watched the door close, pursed his lips, and said to Qi Xiaoqi, ”Is your mom angry?”
