Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1925: Chapter 1927: Farewell on the Lantern Festival

In the days that followed, Cheng Su brought Xiao Qi and Song Jiaying to meet a few more times, and of course, with the appearance of Song Jiaying and her son, Ning Ge, who was nicknamed ”Clingy,” always appeared as well. Yes, Song Jiaying had officially dubbed Ning Ge with this title alongside ”Stubborn Paste.”

But Cheng Su noticed the change—Ning Ge’s name was appearing more and more frequently in Song Jiaying’s mouth.

Cheng Su thought, under these circumstances, wouldn’t they soon see a good outcome?

During the Lantern Festival, Cheng Su received a call from Qi Taiguo, a call to say goodbye.

”When are you leaving?” Cheng Su’s hand gripping the phone was tense and strained.

”I’ll leave tomorrow,” Qi Taiguo replied.

”So soon?” Cheng Su’s voice raised, drawing a glance from Qi Xiaoqi beside her.

On the other end, there was a moment of silence, and helplessly he just called her name.

Cheng Su took a deep breath, then exhaled long: ”Did you ask Ning Gang what the main tasks are for this Aid Africa trip?”

Qi Taiguo pursed his lips and said, ”It’s nothing major, just some engineer construction work, nothing dangerous, don’t worry!”

In fact, there had been biological warfare there, and this time he was going with the medical team to aid Africa, of course, with other missions too.

But how could he tell her? If he did, wouldn’t that cause her unnecessary worry, making her cry even more?

She was truly someone who was emotionally fragile.

”Did they say when you’ll be back?” Cheng Su asked. ”Is there an approximate time? Surely there’s a rough return date, right?”

”At the quickest, six months; at the longest, a year,” Qi Taiguo said. ”Don’t worry. While I’m away, take care of yourself, stay safe, don’t always stress about work until you lose sleep and appetite.”

Cheng Su felt a twinge in her nose and said, ”Got it.” She wiped the corner of her eyes and said, ”You should be the one to be careful, though. Africa has a lot of viruses. Bring more medicine with you, especially antibiotics. If anything’s wrong with your health, go to a hospital right away.”

”Okay,” Qi Taiguo said. ”It’s the Lantern Festival today, just at home with Xiao Qi? When’s your mother-in-law coming?”

”We were supposed to celebrate at the Cheng family, but I thought you might call, so I didn’t go,” Cheng Su replied. ”A few days later, I’ll return to Qing City, so there’s no need for my mom to come to Guangcheng. She should just go straight back to Qing City, saving her from traveling around at her age. Also, many people are returning to the city now; the returning tide is greater than previous years, and the train station is crowded.”

”That’s also good. Where’s Xiao Qi? Let me talk to him.”

Cheng Su handed the phone to Qi Xiaoqi beside her, turned her head away, and couldn’t help but let her tears fall, grabbing a tissue to wipe the corners of her eyes.

Qi Xiaoqi chatted with Qi Taiguo while glancing at Cheng Su, shaking his head.

After a while, he asked if she wanted to talk to Qi Taiguo again.

Cheng Su quickly sniffed, then clung to the phone, rambling on, unsure of when she’d get to hear his voice again after this goodbye. She had to etch it into her mind and heart.

The two talked until the phone got warm before reluctantly ending the call.

Cheng Su hugged Qi Xiaoqi and cried aloud.

He was leaving, and from now on, she could only rely on Xiao Qi, rely on herself, to stand strong until he returned.

Qi Xiaoqi gently patted Cheng Su’s back with his small hand and sighed deeply.

Ah, love is truly such a torment!
