Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1903: Chapter 1905: Annoyance

Back home, Cheng Su heard the expected sound of crying, it was just Mother Qi, no one else.

Holding Qi Xiaoqi, she walked in and indeed saw Mother Qi sobbing. Everyone else was seated in the living room, Qi Taiguo sat beside her, with a hand on her shoulder. Seeing Cheng Su return, he gave a bitter smile.

”You’re back just in time. Taiguo says he’s going to ’Aid Africa’, he’s headed to war, quickly persuade him. Our country doesn’t need to go to war anymore, why is he going to those places?” Mother Qi shouted upon seeing Cheng Su.

”Mom, it’s not necessarily going to war, there are many types of ’Aid Africa’...” Qi Taiguo explained.

”You soldiers—if not going to war, what do you do? Do you farm? Don’t fool me.” Mother Qi grabbed his arm and said, ”Listen to your mom, I don’t need you to become some big officer or commander, what you have now is good. Just be safe, don’t go and...”

She covered her mouth, afraid to say the word.

”Enough!” Father Qi scolded, ”Whatever task Taiguo is going to, it’s arranged by the country, can he just say no? Don’t make a fuss here, it’s annoying.” ”You old fool, am I the one making a fuss now? He’s going to such dangerous places, what if something bad happens, can you give me another son?” Mother Qi glared.

”Can’t you say something nice? He hasn’t even left yet, and you speak such nonsense. You can’t expect anything good to come from a dog’s mouth. It’s the New Year!” Father Qi lashed back.

”Old fool, you...”

The two argued, Qi Fenglian hurried forward to soothe them, while Qi Jianguo and the others also tried to calm Father Qi.

Cheng Su’s head throbbed with pain, she hugged her son and went into the room, slamming the door shut.

Suddenly, the noise quieted down. Looking at the tightly closed door, everyone looked at each other in dismay.

”Did you talk to your wife?” Father Qi asked Qi Taiguo.

Qi Taiguo nodded.

”Dad, Mom, it’s really not as scary as you think. Although I can’t make phone calls back, if it’s fast, I’ll return within half a year, even if slow, I’ll be back in a year.” Qi Taiguo was eager to talk to Cheng Su, hastily explaining to his parents, ”There are also medical teams in ’Aid Africa’, maybe we’re just assisting them, there are experts going to help too. We might protect them, but it hasn’t been said we’re definitely going to war.”

”We know, we know. Don’t worry, the family has us—go ahead and do your work, just be safe!” Father Qi said, ”Perhaps speak to your wife more, don’t argue, be patient.”

Mother Qi wanted to say something, but Qi Fenglian quickly interjected, ”Mom, listen to Dad and Taiguo. Taiguo has served as a soldier for so long, he knows what he’s doing. Besides, these are orders from the country, not for anyone to just say no and not go. They have no choice. If people could choose, and no one wanted to go, wouldn’t the country be in chaos?”

”I can’t bear it,” Mother Qi sobbed quietly.

No one present could bear it—going so far, with infrequent contact, who knows what might happen?

But just as Qi Fenglian said, there’s no choice, when the country commands, you must go. Otherwise, how do you deserve the uniform you wear?

Seeing his parents comforted, Qi Taiguo entered the room. Cheng Su was holding a book, explaining it to Qi Xiaoqi. When she saw him come in, she glanced up momentarily and continued narrating the story from the book.
