Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1914: Chapter 1916: Who Sent ’Her’ Money

On the eighth day of the lunar month, Cheng Su sent off the family of her parents-in-law and Elder Sister. Qi Jianguo, who was doing an internship and part-time work in Cheng Yaozu’s company, thought that he would have to return when school started, so he stayed in Guangcheng instead of traveling back and forth.

With his younger son staying in Guangcheng, Father Qi felt more at ease, instructing him to support Cheng Su more, and then he left.

Qi Jianguo went to work at the company during the day and came home only at night. At home, it was still just Cheng Su and Qi Xiaoqi. This arrangement suited them both, as there were no outsiders, and they didn’t have to worry about anyone else discovering Qi Xiaoqi’s secret. Their communication became more natural and relaxed.

On the tenth day, Cheng Su took Qi Xiaoqi to the orphanage to visit Little Cheng Su. At home, she had already explained to Qi Xiaoqi why she was completely uncurious about his background and accepted it calmly.

So when Qi Xiaoqi saw Little Cheng Su, who was the ’past and present life’ of his mother, he found it incredibly fascinating, looking at Little Cheng Su as if she were some rare animal.

The world is truly full of wonders.

”Your son doesn’t seem afraid of strangers at all,” the director remarked with a smile to Cheng Su, glancing at the two children who were gazing at each other.

Cheng Su replied, ”He gets familiar with people quickly and is precocious.”

”You’re a loving person, so naturally, the child you gave birth to is quick-witted and intelligent,” the director said.

Cheng Su thought to herself, if only you knew his origins.

”How is she?” Cheng Su asked about Little Cheng Su’s condition.

”She’s doing quite well,” the director said, affectionately looking at the child with two braids. ”In November, she almost got adopted.”

Cheng Su was taken aback; this was something she didn’t remember happening.

But almost, what does that mean?

”Almost?”

The director nodded and said, ”Everything was set, the procedures were about to be carried out, but on the day before the formalities, that couple had an accident!”

Cheng Su covered her mouth in shock.

”How could this happen?”

”It was reportedly a traffic accident, such a pity; they seemed like very cultivated people,” the director said with a regretful look.

Is that so? Cheng Su looked at Little Cheng Su, seeing her round face, she knew she was well taken care of, and said, ”Even if there are no others, you have treated her well, director. I suppose she sees you as a mother figure.”

At least I feel that way myself.

The director said, ”Isn’t it so? After spending so much time together, you develop feelings, but I feel this child has had quite a rough journey over the years. Apart from your sponsorship, it’s not like no one has wanted to adopt her, but it always falls through due to various reasons. Actually, if this couple surnamed Chu had adopted her, she should have grown up very happily, after all, it would have been a complete family!”

”Who knows!” Cheng Su sighed, ”Fate is truly peculiar.”

The two of them watched the pair of children playing, and suddenly the director said, ”By the way, did you send sponsorship money in December?”

Sponsorship money? No, she usually sent it once a year.

The director walked to her desk, searched a bit, and handed a remittance over to her, ”Is this from you?”

Cheng Su looked at it; it was a remittance of three thousand yuan, which she hadn’t sent.

”I haven’t sent a remittance of this amount before,” Cheng Su said.

”That’s odd. It was addressed specifically for Xiao Susu.” The director handed over an envelope, ”It’s written here.”

Cheng Su hurriedly opened it, and inside was just a torn piece of paper with only a few words on it, stating this money was for Little Cheng Su.

Who sent this?
