Beast Taming: Becoming a Bug-type Elite Four Member Starting with Silkworm Raising

Chapter 195 The security team is established!Due to time constraints, while borrowing detailed information, Russell also applied for a batch of color-changing slug samples from the Senluo Animal Control Research Institute.

Although this kind of pet beast is now difficult to see near towns due to the destruction of its habitat, its reproduction speed is relatively fast, and in the end it is not considered a rare pet beast.

Given Russell’s current importance to Senluo City, it would not be difficult to transport some color-changing slugs.

However, when handing over the goods, researcher Li Moran who came to deliver the goods specifically explained that this kind of translucent, like a ball of jelly-like creature must survive in a particularly clean water source.

Looking at the color-changing slugs stored in special incubators, which are almost as transparent as pure water, Russell felt their fragility from their appearance.

Since most of the body is composed of water, as long as there is a slight change in the water quality, the life structure of the color-changing slug will be greatly affected.

At the same time, as a semi-aquatic pet, the color-changing slug cannot live in the water all its life.

Whenever there is mist in the wetland at dusk or early morning, they will climb out of the water and come to the grass blades and tree trunks to breathe and eat.

At this moment, it was also the time for the Hidden Thorn Mantis to take action.

The intelligence of slug-like pets is relatively low. Just like sweet sap aphids, they basically cannot avoid predators.

Groups of color-changing slugs climb on the plants, some show the greenness of leaves, some turn into the color of flowers, and some continue to maintain the transparency of water, eating like a crystal pudding feast.

”A slight change in water quality will cause it to burp. It won’t work in a human town, so we might as well raise it in a crystal garden.”

After thinking about it, Russell decided to leave the color-changing slugs in the breeding box for the time being, and then take them to the secret realm when he set off for the pioneering land.

After all, the factors that can cause changes in water quality are not just as simple as directly discharging sewage into the water.

The disposal of daily garbage, crop fertilization, and even some waste gas emissions that have nothing to do with water will be reflected in water quality from rainfall.

Because of this, the habitat of the color-changing slugs has gradually shrunk from just having water to some inaccessible dense forest wetlands.

The environment in the secret realm is relatively stable, and the alliance officials will not allow a large number of people to live permanently or open factories.

In the early days of development, Russell had a higher say in the candidates who entered the secret realm. As long as he carefully maintained it, the water quality in the secret realm should not change much.

As for the source of pure living water, Russell planned to directly use the existing mud bugs in the secret realm to solve the problem.

The pure water that has been passed through the Mud Bug’s talent skill ”Fine Sand Filtration” is the main source of drinking water for Crystal Ants, and it is naturally no problem as a water source for color-changing slugs to live in.

Anyway, the development rights of the crystallized ants belong to the Royal Insect House, and others cannot interfere at all in the short term. Russell directly set the breeding site in the mud worm grazing area.

In addition, he also submitted several other plans to the Senluo City Beast Control Alliance simultaneously.

For example, the sewage system of the new camp is exclusively supplied by Yuchongwu, and the transportation business from Senluo City to the wild camp is undertaken by Feiyi Shipping, etc.

From a practical point of view, these are all logical things.

Anyway, Russell has never been greedy, and the pets he provides are of high quality. There is absolutely no need for Senluo City Alliance officials to create extraneous problems and look for other cooperatives.

However, when he saw his proposal to use the so-called ”specially bred” mantis as a pioneering militia standard pet, Commander Yan Songbai visibly hesitated.

Standard pets, as the name suggests, are pets configured in batches.

The gale war eagles that Tu Tiezhu and the others had contracted with the garrison sergeants were one of the official pet beasts of the alliance.

Of course, the pioneer militiamen are just temporary workers in the final analysis, and their establishment level is much lower than that of formal alliance soldiers.

During pioneering operations, they were generally responsible for scouting, patrolling, and rounding up scattered wild beasts, and rarely participated in large-scale battles.

As the saying goes, investment and return should be equal. Since the pioneering militiamen are not expected to do much, the alliance’s official budget for them will naturally be much smaller.

Therefore, the standard pet beasts assigned to the militiamen do not need to reach the level of gold-level balanced pets.

But even so, it seems difficult for a pet beast like Daodao Mantis to reach the standard.

In terms of combat effectiveness, Daodao Mantis, which only has one original attack skill: its sword arm, is quite mediocre.

Even Daolang, who was contracted by Russell, had just mastered the alloy claw skill and did not have a variety of powerful passives. His hard power was only at the level of an ordinary silver-level pet beast.

In terms of auxiliary abilities, Daodao Mantis has no commendable abilities other than three-dimensional vision.

But the function of stereoscopic vision is to capture movement, not far vision, so it is essentially a combat-oriented skill, not a detection skill.

When walking in the wild with such a pet, you are likely to encounter mishaps if you encounter an unexpected situation.

Although sacrifice in the pioneering war is unavoidable, every beast master is also a citizen of the Alliance, so it is naturally better to suffer fewer battle losses.

The most important thing is that the mantis is a purely carnivorous beast, and its feeding cost is not very low.

Based on the above points, it is indeed a bit cost-effective for the alliance official to purchase Mantis in bulk as a standard pet beast.

Moreover, the militiamen, as people with immediate interests, may find it difficult to accept such a pet.

Fortunately, now the Senluo City Beast Control Alliance does want something from Russell, and any request he makes will be carefully considered.

After Russell repeatedly promised that he would let the garrison legion verify the quality of the pet beasts first, and then discuss further promotion matters, Yan Songbai did not refuse the matter in the end.

…………

After initially exploring the plan to promote the giant sword mantis, Russell didn’t say much more and turned to make full preparations for the cultivation.

After living in the world of beast control for this period of time, he also clearly understood the importance of hard power.

And cultivating strength is also a kind of strength.

Even though he now holds control of the secret realm, if he wants to truly establish an industry that can cooperate for a long time and continue to develop, he must ultimately speak for himself by cultivating the quality of the products.

Instead of wasting a lot of time, it would be better to take out the finished pet beast quickly.

But after all, this was his first attempt to awaken the ancient bloodline of a beast, and Russell didn’t know what the specific progress would be.

In short, it is definitely a good idea to quickly bring a group of mantises into the secret realm of the Crystal Garden and feed them with color-changing slugs.

But before that, he still had one important thing to do.

That is... hurry up and sort out the security matters of the Imperial Insect House to ensure that the shadow priest sneaking into the door will never happen again!
After all, no one wants to work hard on the front line only to have their home stolen.

Cultivating pet beasts does not happen overnight, and the original pet beasts that have undergone iterative optimization of their bloodlines are even more precious resources.

And those batch animals, especially production-type beasts, have almost no ability to protect themselves. If the fire ball is really stolen, or if other malicious people go deep into the rear area, even a simple attack can cause heavy damage to Yu Chongwu’s industry.

It just so happened that during the past few days of official communication between Russell and the Senluo City Alliance, Lu Dahu also received a reply.

When they learned that Senluo City was planning to open up the urban area, they took it very seriously. After completing the task at hand, they rushed back without stopping.

Russell’s impression of the black tiger hunting team formed by Lu Dahu was quite good.

His team has output and control, there is no shortage of support and quality, and there is even a researcher, so the equipment is quite complete.

Moreover, the hunting team almost always performs tasks in the wild, so their experience in surviving in the wild is definitely not that bad.

Compared to teams of similar strength, but mainly engaged in fair competition and urban work, the Black Tiger Team is undoubtedly more suitable to participate in pioneering operations.

The most important thing is that Lu Dahu and Russell have been together since childhood, and Tong Ling, Zheng Ping, Zheng Yu and other siblings are basically his classmates in school.

From the perspective of a boss employing people, it is enough that the ability is up to standard, and the most important thing is to be able to use it with peace of mind.

It can be said that it is extremely rare to find a candidate with such good strength and clear background.

”You kid, why do I feel like the gap between us gets bigger every time I meet you...”

After meeting in the newly opened reception area of Yuchong House, Lu Dahu punched Russell on the shoulder as usual.

When they met for the first time, he was able to achieve a lucky victory by relying on the rough skin and thick flesh of the devil dog and draining Ayou’s energy.

Later, when he faced Russell in a head-on battle, Lu Dahu was convinced that he was defeated by him.

Then he formed the Black Tiger Team, and the business of the Insect House grew bigger and bigger.

After walking step by step to the present, Lu Dahu felt that he could not keep up with the progress of this young man.

Even my own sister admires Russell far more than she does herself...

Although he knew in his heart that the better the gangster, the better it would be for him, but it would be false to say that he didn’t have a little bit of envy and helplessness.

However, as a competent hunting captain, Lu Dahu will naturally give priority to the interests of his teammates.

He did not take on any new tasks this time and took the team directly to the Chongwu House, just for the better development of the team.

”Ning Ning, go and call the new employee I brought back a few days ago.”

While chatting with Lu Dahu and others, Russell also asked Lu Yinning to call the He Qiuer siblings over.

After recuperating in the Imperial Insect House for the past few days, He Qiuer’s condition seemed to be quite good, but He Xia was troubled by the backlash of the Gu insects and still looked sick.

Because they had something to ask for, they had not dared to bother the busy Russell too much before.

Today, they suddenly received a formal invitation to meet and suddenly saw a group of strange young beast masters. The two of them were somewhat nervous.

”During the Pioneering War, although the Chongwu House was still mainly engaged in pet business, it would inevitably encounter some battles. I am planning to form a special security team.”

Seeing everyone gathered, Russell got straight to the point and stated his purpose of organizing this meeting.

The industry of Yuchongwu is getting bigger and bigger now, and it is about to be one of the first batch of enterprises to enter the crystal garden secret realm and temporary camp.

As the saying goes, a big tree attracts wind. In order to reduce risks as much as possible and not give random people a chance to fish in troubled waters, the security manpower must be fixed and cannot find part-time jobs or hire mercenaries.

”I don’t have any objection, it’s just about making money.”

Hearing this, Lu Dahu took the lead in expressing his wishes.

Being able to come here with the whole team, of course the teammates around him have no objections.

When they set up a hunting team, their first goal is to make money. This is natural and there is nothing to avoid.

Among many industries, the reason why they choose wild hunting with certain dangers is that, in addition to the relatively higher pay, there are also some people who like to take risks and are unwilling to work regularly between two o’clock and one line.

The job offer issued by Russell does not conflict with these two conditions at all, and can even be said to be more in line with the needs of the Black Tiger team members.

First of all, in terms of salary, they are just starting out. In the final analysis, they are still on the edge of the entry level. As a rookie team preparing to advance to the intermediate level, it is difficult for them to receive too high remuneration for the commissions they can usually accept.

On the other hand, the industry of Yuchongwu is now quite large. Although it is still far behind the established enterprises that have accumulated decades of experience, it is more than enough to hire an exclusive security team.

With Russell’s generosity, he would definitely not be stingy with Fa Xiao, whom he had known for 20 years. He had just offered a very generous price.

In other words, after joining the security department of the Royal Bug House, the income of the Black Tiger Team members can immediately increase.

What’s more, the security task Russell introduced to them was not to guard the gate of the Insect House as a security guard, but to participate in a pioneering operation that has been rumored recently.

This alone is enough to make the members of the Black Tiger Team feel excited.

You know, not all the people involved in the operation are the same.

Even some senior hunting teams and even alliance officers can only do peripheral work due to confidentiality and authority.

But according to Russell, as long as the most basic defenses and living facilities are laid, they can enter the field immediately and go straight to the front line of development.

”We have no objection either...”

He Qiuer had no objection to Russell’s question.

As early as in the process of exploring the secret realm of the Crystal Garden, she and Russell had already made arrangements for future cooperation.

He Qiuer paid for his loyalty to the Chongwu House in exchange for a way to eliminate the backlash of the Gu worms.

Anyway, Russell at least showed a way to alleviate the backlash, which was no different from the ancient potion given to them by the Stealing Fire Group.

Moreover, this young man whom he could not see through seemed to be a good person, far less perverted than the Fire Thieves.

Even if she doesn’t succeed in the end, she can still live a peaceful life, which is much better than running around to steal fire balls and work part-time.

”Let’s talk about this today. Everyone came here after a long journey. Let’s have a good rest these two days.”

The negotiations were settled smoothly, and Russell was not in a hurry to assign work tasks. Instead, he asked Lu Dahu and others to settle down first and relieve their fatigue after just completing the hunting commission.

However, when everyone dispersed, He Qiuer leaned against the door, looking like he was hesitant to speak. (End of chapter)
