Beast Taming: Becoming a Bug-type Elite Four Member Starting with Silkworm Raising

Chapter 186 The identity of the kingThe leader of the Crystal Soldier Ants had said all that, and Russell couldn’t stop chasing after people asking questions.

After all, if you can get the fourth secret realm key, you will more or less have the other party to let you off the hook, so there is no reason to choose a life-or-death fight.

The ruler of the Crystal Ant Nest set up these keys to the secret realm, probably to test the explorers’ strength level, rather than to actually kill all outsiders.

Everyone retreated from the stone bridge, but Ah-Dai was still waiting there obediently.

With its huge body as cover, it was difficult for ordinary secret beasts to approach. Thinking that everyone was a little tired today, Russell chose to camp on the spot.

Chen Yuan, who felt that he had not contributed much, took the initiative to take on the logistics work and took out his portable cooker to cook dinner.

He Qiuer took out a bottle of light green potion and used a cotton ball to brush it on the blade-footed centipede. At the same time, he also mobilized the energy in his beast-controlling space to replenish the energy consumed in the battle.

I have to say that the methods of controlling beasts of the Gu Insect Master clan are indeed quite amazing.

After the light green potion was applied, the gaps in the carapace of the sword-footed centipede that had been punctured by ground thorns began to heal at a speed visible to the naked eye.

You must know that although the defense capability of an exoskeleton exceeds that of skin of the same level and thickness, it is also the most difficult to repair.

For many species of pet beasts that are not good at self-healing, they even have to wait for a critical step such as molting before they have a chance to completely repair the damaged carapace.

Such a powerful treatment method made everyone jealous, especially Jiang Xue, a medical professional, who almost doubted life.

However, He Qiuer immediately explained the side effects of this medicine to everyone.

Most things related to parasitic Gu seem to be related to consumption and non-renewability. This potion called ”Life Catalyst” will consume the life source of the pet beast and has extremely high drug resistance.

Although the first use is effective, it will be difficult to be effective after using it two or three times on the same pet, and it will also greatly reduce the pet’s own self-healing ability.

Such heavy side effects can usually only be used on parasitized pets that will be thrown away after a while.

After getting along for a while, Russell also fully felt that at least % of the outstanding combat effectiveness of the Gu Masters was based on sufficient combat readiness.

”Would you like to come?”

After treating the Sword-footed Centipede and looking at the still scarred fighter, He Qiuer took out another bottle of lighter-colored potion and handed it to Chen Yuan.

”No need... I’ll just wait for the unicorn to recover naturally.”

Chen Yuan, who had just listened to He Qiuer’s introduction to the effect of life catalyst, was not a Gu insect master and had to carry his own contracted beast for many years, and naturally shook his head.

”This is an ordinary healing ointment, specially used for insect-type pets.”

Seeing how he was afraid of being cheated, He Qiuer explained with a smile.

”I really didn’t feel an excessive amount of life from this bottle of ointment. It should be fine.”

Seeing that Jiang Xue and Chen Yuan still couldn’t believe He Qiu’er who once worked for the Fire Thief Group, Russell took the medicine bottle and sniffed it, then took the lead and rubbed a little on Dao Lang’s body.

In the previous battle, Daolang had to bite several crystal soldier ants into pieces in order to get the effect of the vulnerable mark as quickly as possible.

Although these were only minor injuries, there were still several clearly visible cracks on its bright silver beetles.

After applying this bottle of healing ointment produced by the Gu Insect Master clan and specially used for insect-type pets, the green sticky substance quickly integrated into its insect armor and began to emit mild insect-type energy.

After a while, Daolang’s beetle was restored to its original state, with no trace of damage visible.

Seeing this, Chen Yuan felt relieved and applied the remaining healing ointment to the fighter’s body.

However, the strangulation ability of the sword-legged centipede is not comparable to the bite of the crystal ant. The injury of the fighter rhinoceros is much more serious than that of Daolang.

After using up the remaining ointment, its injuries were still clearly visible, but its energy level was much better, and it was finally not like before, as if it was about to collapse at any moment.

”The Gu Insect Master clan seems to be really versatile.”

After this small episode, Russell’s evaluation of the Gu Insect Master became a little better.

Not only is he strong, he can fight, disguise and detect, he can also configure secret potions to increase the power of insect-type pets, and he can even make potions for treatment.

Moreover, neither the amplification secret medicine nor the life catalyst is actually applicable to parasitic beasts as He Qiuer said.

It is true that this kind of medicine, which will permanently lose the potential and vitality of pet animals after one use, will cause serious problems if abused, but this does not mean that ordinary beast masters will really hate it.

After experiencing several explorations in the wild and two battles with the shadow priests of the Fire Stealing Group, Russell also gained a more realistic understanding of the world of beast control.

Although the competitive order and large cities established by the Beastmaster Alliance allow most people to live a stable life, there are actually countless dangers in the wild, and professional beastmasters often face battles that involve death or injury.

It is true that drinking potion will damage the pet’s foundation, but if it cannot defeat the enemy in battle and is hit head-on by powerful skills, it will also suffer irreversible damage.

Not to mention, if you are seriously injured and dying, you may still survive if you use life catalyst for treatment. If you die directly from serious injuries, there is no source of life.

Explosive drugs like this are quite good for first aid.

It seems that we really need to think of a way to get them to work in the insect house...

”What should we do next? Should we exit the secret realm or explore it all at once?”

After dinner, Chen Yuan asked Russell while sorting out various daily necessities.

Now, both he and Jiang Xue, as well as He Qiu’er, who turned against him halfway, are convinced of Russell and completely regard him as the backbone of the team.

This question is indeed very important. After all, there are no other members of the Fire Stealing Group in the secret realm, and time is not so pressing.

He Xia and Chen Yuan were not in good condition, and He Qiuer had used up some of the secret medicine he carried. It seemed a reasonable request to withdraw from the secret realm and rest for a few days before exploring again.

”I think we should continue exploring...”

But after thinking for a moment, Russell decided to continue exploring based on the current progress.

He made this decision for two reasons. First, judging from his previous encounters in the secret realm, this secret realm was not the type that was extremely malicious towards intruders and would mindlessly expel or even kill them.

To a certain extent, this secret realm even welcomes the exploration of insect masters, otherwise the crystal ant leader would not stop attacking immediately after Daolang gets the amber.

Thinking about it this way, even if the subsequent exploration becomes more and more difficult, at least the probability of encountering life-threatening danger is not much higher.

And now that there are troops from the Beast Control Alliance guarding the entrance to the secret realm, he is not afraid that the Fire Stealing Group will send reinforcements to disrupt the situation.

Similarly, if the alliance could find suitable exploration members, they would definitely have brought them along with them. Going out for a rest now would not make much sense other than replenishing supplies.Secondly, considering the follow-up actions of the Fire Stealing Group and the Gu Insect Master Clan, this is also the main reason.

The fact that the Fire Stealing Group was able to launch a counterattack immediately after the night attack on the Beast Control Alliance landed showed that someone must have passed on the information to them.

The Fire Thieves always like to plant spies everywhere, and Russell is not sure if there are any spies in the camp now.

If the news of He Qiuer’s rebellion spreads, they will have no hope of fighting for the secret realm, and they might cause something bad again.

To put it bluntly, with the level of perversion of the Thief Fire Group, even if they really can’t intervene in the secret realm, God knows if they will get angry and attack Yu Chongwu or Lu Yinning and others.

In addition, another point is that he is worried that if he goes out like this, the Beast Control Alliance is not willing to let go of the He Qiuer siblings with criminal records.

Or maybe the other beast masters of the Gu Insect Master Clan didn’t believe in themselves, which made He Qiuer return to the Fire Stealing Group in a daze.

Therefore, Russell still wanted to bring the secret realm under his control as much as possible, and then return to the camp to concentrate on handling these matters.

”Okay, let’s go to bed early and try to get at least another piece of secret amber tomorrow.”

No one had any objections to this decision, and soon everyone returned to their tents.

Russell leaned next to one of Dumb’s insect legs. He took out the newly acquired secret realm amber from his pocket and looked at it.

This amber encloses the head of an ant. What’s a little strange is that a small amount of crystals on its tentacles reflect colorful light, and it doesn’t look like an ordinary crystal ant.

In the world of beast control, most attributes have their own clear color matching, so the degree of correlation between colorful colors and strength is actually very high.

Except for a few pure vase pets, most of the brightly colored pets have a rich skill pool and the ability to master multiple attributes.

Combined with the ”Active Crystal” skill of the Crystal Ant Clan, which can devour all attribute energy, it is very likely that it has mastered the abilities of various attributes, and its strength is quite impressive.

But it’s normal to think about it. After all, this is the key used to unlock the door to the core area of the secret realm. It certainly can’t be made from the corpse of a crystal ant.

”The core area of the ant nest is usually occupied by the queen. Could this thing be related to the queen?”

Holding the four pieces of amber and looking at them again and again, Russell began to guess the identity of the crystallized ant in the amber.

”Dumb, do you know about crystal ants?”

Thinking that Ah-Dai had been in the secret realm for many years and knew nothing about the crystallized ants, Russell used an energy thread to gently wake it up from its nap.

”...deep in the cave, there are some ants, and they also obey the king’s orders.”

Sure enough, if the information asked about the crystal ants was clearly pointed out, even though Dumb still looked confused, he could still answer some specific information.

Hearing the description of the ”king” again, and Dui also said that the crystal ants also obeyed this king, Russell couldn’t help but become extremely curious.

Because I had asked Ah-Dai before what the ”king” looked like, but he could never tell clearly. He only described it as looking like a ball of light.

Although I don’t know what race Dumb is talking about, at least ants definitely don’t have this form.

The soldier ants and worker ants of the ant-like beasts are not even fertile and are extremely dependent on the queen. No matter how powerful other races are, they are unlikely to force the entire ant colony to surrender.

If the ”king” that the ants obey in Dumb’s mouth is indeed not a crystal ant, then there is only one reasonable answer:
The crystallized ants, including the queen, all expressed their submission to this ”king”.

”Is the king you are talking about also an ant? Or can he command the queen?”

With this speculation, Russell confirmed to Dumb again.

”It can...command the largest ants.”

Sure enough, just as he had guessed, the ”king” in Dumb’s mouth was not the leader of the crystal ant clan, but some kind of higher-level existence.

Upon hearing the news, Russell’s breathing became hot again.

Being able to find the crystallized ants in the Black Dew Secret Realm, which can be called a living cash cow and have good combat capabilities, is already an inestimable benefit.

If there are other higher-level and rarer resources hidden here, then after this trip to the secret realm, he might be able to directly join the principality’s wealth list.

”Do you have a good relationship with Crystal Ant?”

Trying to calm down his excitement, Russell smiled evilly and asked Dumb the next question.

After all, the secret guard ants are conservatively estimated to be at level five or above. Once a leader appears, it is very likely that he will be a high-level one.

Without the help of foreign aid like Dumb, the team really doesn’t have the strength to compete with them.

”I don’t really like ants, they are noisy...”

Fortunately, the king that Dumb obeys is not the crystallized ant queen, and as a Buddhist who loves to sleep, he doesn’t really like the ant-like pets that are always busy.

”We are going to the territory of those ants tomorrow to look for the things left by the king. Can you help?”

After hearing this, it was not impossible for him to have a fight with the secret guard ant, so Russell continued his deception.

Strictly speaking, this is not entirely a lie.

Although the purpose of his trip was not to find the whereabouts of the king, he still had to go to the core of the secret realm.

Since the crystal ant is not the strongest pet beast in the secret realm, there is a high probability that the core position is really something left by the ”king”.

At that time, if Dumb is willing to continue working for the new owner of the secret realm, he will also become an ”honorary employee” of the Royal Insect House...

”The king said not to disturb it...has it woken up already? Dumb wants to find it!”

When he heard the news that he might see Wang again, Ah-Dai became unusually excited, and even the information that came through was processed a lot.

It can be seen that it does have deep feelings for the king in the secret realm.

Thousands of years later, after waking up, he still remembered the instructions left by the king, which made Russell even more determined to take Dumb under his command.

After all, who would refuse a high-level follower who is loyal, ignorant, easy to fool, and powerful!
”Then tomorrow, after we arrive at the ants’ territory, you will do this...and then do that...”

Considering that Ah-Dai is completely a child at heart, and that the Tomb Beetle family is naturally powerful and can grow to the eighth level without much actual combat, Russell was worried that Ah-Dai would lose control, so Russell repeatedly explained to it the tactics for the next day’s exploration.
