Beast Taming: Becoming a Bug-type Elite Four Member Starting with Silkworm Raising

Chapter 158 AttackedAfter contacting the Senluo City Security Department and quietly adding a few more monitoring points, Russell felt that he was fully prepared and was just waiting for the other party to come to his door again to catch a turtle in a jar.

Now Russell himself is also an early-level fourth-level beast master. With late-level fourth-level Chen Nong and two other early-level fourth-level security team members sitting on guard, even if the opponent is a fifth-level beast master, they may not be unable to touch him.

In addition, Fenglin Road belongs to the urban area after all. If a battle breaks out, more reinforcements will arrive if the time is delayed a little longer. As long as the opponent is not a beast master of level six or above, there will be no big problem.

The sixth-level beast control masters are considered the absolute backbone of the Senluo City Beast Control Alliance and can serve as the commander of the garrison in an area.

With this level of combat power, the possibility of doing surveillance and investigation is extremely slim.

After checking the security arrangements around the insect house several times, Russell felt that the success rate of catching him on the spot was at least %.

However, things did not develop in the direction he expected.

This accident didn’t mean that the infiltrator was so powerful that Chen Nong couldn’t handle it, but... he didn’t come at all!

Several days passed, and no matter whether it was from the surveillance cameras or the ambush personnel at the scene, no abnormalities were found in the area around the Imperial Insect House.

As the saying goes, only a thousand days can make a thief, but there is no thousand days to prevent a thief. The infiltrator who was hanging around the breeding ground every day a few days ago suddenly disappeared, which put the matter into a very embarrassing situation.

If the infiltrator still sneaks into the Insect Control House every day, even if he can’t be caught, being rounded up will at least kill his arrogance, so that he will have to weigh it carefully the next time he comes to spy.

But with him standing still and never coming to the door again, Russell really didn’t know what to do.

Although Chen Nong had checked the monitoring of the Chongwu House and did not suspect that Russell had reported false alarms and occupied resources, he still expressed his intention to evacuate the personnel euphemistically after staying there for a whole week with no results.

In this regard, Russell could only apologize while sending Chen Nong off politely.

Even with Dr. Natsuki’s reputation, it is impossible for him to ignore the security patrols in other places in the area and squat in the insect house endlessly.

However, Chen Nong was indeed serious and responsible about his security work and did not just pat his butt and walk away.

Considering that there were indeed suspicious persons near the Imperial Insect House, before leaving, he handed Russell a panic button and said that pressing the button would quickly call the police.

As long as they are within a five-kilometer signal range, all nearby security personnel will rush over as soon as possible.

Because he always had doubts about the failure to catch the infiltrator, Russell was very attached to this emergency button and carried it in his pocket almost every day.

…………

Amid slight worry, the peaceful days passed in a blink of an eye.

During this period of time, the batch of iron silkworms and nest weavers ordered by Feiyi Shipping Company were growing vigorously, and Ayou’s growth progress was slowly approaching the edge of evolution.

After getting a little busy, Russell gradually forgot about the infiltrator who did not cause any damage.

”Brother Russell, is it true that that person will never come again?”

Perhaps the image of a dark figure holding a shooting device is too jarring for a little girl. Lu Yinning is the only one in the Insect Room who still mentions the infiltrator from time to time.

”Maybe he’s just an ordinary commercial spy. After a few days of observation, he didn’t see any clues, so he stopped snooping.”

Knowing that Lu Yinning was still concerned about the unknown identity of the infiltrator, Russell would always patiently comfort her.

Moreover, his words were not purely to comfort Lu Yinning. The possibility that the commercial espionage had made no progress for several days and then gave up on the commission was actually not low.

After all, the business of the Royal Insect House is basically based on the ”Cocoon of Evolution” talent. If you simply observe the feeding patterns of the pet animals in the breeding farm and secretly analyze the feed formula, you will indeed get nothing.

The cost of hiring a commercial espionage is not low. If you continue to spend it without profit for a long time, even if the other party is a large company with strong funds, it will feel pressured.

”During this period, Liang Kun and I will take turns to add feed to the No. Breeding Farm at night. You don’t have to work the night shift. But we will get up late in the morning, so you can work harder.”

Seeing that Lu Yinning still looked unhappy, Russell thoughtfully said that she and Liang Kun would share the night shift.

”Yeah, let me prepare breakfast for you!”

After this operation, Lu Yinning was very moved, and his loyalty to Yu Chongwu was once again raised to a higher level.

And Liang Kun didn’t have any objections to the shift change, because most of the work of adding feed is done by leafworms and breeding equipment, and the people on duty actually don’t have much physical work to do.

You need to go there alone, mainly to supervise and prevent mistakes.

When the first batch of orders from Flying Wing Shipping Company are successfully delivered and the cooperation is stable, Russell will no longer rush to cultivate iron silkworms. The night shift will be canceled directly, and everyone will have peace of mind.

…………

It was another night shift. Apart from the rustling of silkworms eating mulberry leaves and the occasional chirping of stone crickets, the area near the breeding farm was so quiet that even the sound of footsteps could echo far away.

Because the silkworms have entered a period of rapid growth and their food intake has increased significantly recently, it was almost early morning when Russell came out of the breeding farm.

After taking a look at the time on his phone, he yawned and prepared to return to the dormitory for a good night’s sleep.

But at this moment, a faint sound suddenly came from Russell’s pocket.

chirp...

”There are different energy fluctuations ahead...”

Just when Russell was still a little confused, Xiao Qi’s voice came out in his mind.

Upon hearing this, Russell was immediately shocked and lost all sleep.

During this period, in order to increase the intimacy with Xiaoqi and help it alleviate its fear of unfamiliar environments, he would put Xiaoqi in his pocket whenever he had nothing to do.

One of the responsibilities of a protective beast is to sense possible dangers nearby.

Although Xiao Qi is not one of those pet beasts with strong perceptive abilities, it can still capture the unusual trace among the similar auras of a large number of iron chrysalis silkworms at a distance of less than ten meters. Energy fluctuations.

Russell looked in the direction pointed by Xiao Qi, and sure enough he saw a black shadow flashing past the corner from a distance.

That is the location of the No. breeding ground, and it is also the production place of the earliest basic industry of the Insect House, ”Rainbow Yarn”.

”Good guy, you are so patient, you come to your door again after half a month, and you just happened to be bumped into by me?”

Guessing whether the other party was interested in colored silk, Russell quietly retreated to the shadow of the corner, preparing to send a message to Liang Kun who was resting in the Yuchongwu store, asking him to see if the surveillance camera had captured the black shadow just now. .

However, just as he was disgusted with this sneaky behavior and took out his mobile phone, a chill suddenly rose from behind, and then invaded at an extremely fast speed.

If you have to describe it, it feels like someone is holding a cold scalpel and sliding it towards your neck with precision and indifference.

Due to the extreme nervousness caused by the sudden fright, Russell almost lost the ability to move and think at this moment.

grumble--!
”Don’t hurt the master!”

Fortunately, Xiao Qi was not intimidated by this murderous intent.

At the critical moment, it mixed the miracle slime with a small bag of iron sand that Russell carried, and instantly weaved an iron net that covered most of his body. The next moment, a particularly cold energy struck the iron net, forcibly opening a large hole in the slime net that was more than five centimeters thick.

However, looking at the angle at which the opponent was slashing, it seemed that he was not aiming to take Russell’s life, but was slashing at the hand he was about to take out his cell phone.

But even so, the attack power that can cut through Xiao Qi’s mucus shield with one blow is terrifying enough.

You must know that the protective effect of miracle slime is linked to the storage capacity and mixed substances of the slime. With preparation, the protective effect of this skill can surpass most skills of the same level.

Although Xiao Qi currently only has level three strength, it has never fought in such a long time, and the mucus in its body is very saturated. In addition, Russell also prepared iron sand, a semi-viscous shield mixed with metal substances. The protective effect is at least four Early stage.

Being able to directly break through fourth-level protective skills proves that the opponent’s strength must be above the mid-level fourth level.

Mid-level fourth-level skills can be considered devastating damage to the physical strength of an early-level fourth-level beastmaster.

If Xiao Qi hadn’t blocked the blow just now, Russell’s hands would have been disabled.

Even so, his current situation is not optimistic.

The shield was on the verge of breaking, there was only one pack of iron sand, and Xiao Qi’s full defense also consumed a lot of mucus. If he waited for the opponent to launch the next attack, Russell might really lose his arm and burn out.

What’s even worse is that the iron net that Xiao Qi released just now was too big, bursting his coat, and the mobile phone and emergency button that could call for reinforcements fell to the ground.

And the attacker obviously saw this. A bat-like ghost in a cloak rushed out of the darkness, waving the black scythe in his hand, and drove Russell several meters away from the two communication items. .

Then, a figure also wearing a black cloak quietly appeared not far away.

He seemed to be very proficient in this kind of sneak attack business. He knew that many communication equipment had the function of automatic warning after being damaged by violence. After driving Russell away, he had no intention of destroying the mobile phone and emergency button.

”It’s going to kill me, it’s actually the Fire Stealing Group...!”

Seeing the appearance of the pet beast that just attacked him, Russell could not recognize the identity of the attacker.

That ghost-type pet beast that looks like a ghost and a bat is one of the iconic pet beasts of the Shadow Order. It was once responsible for the main force in the assassination work of the Court of Hope - the Shadow of Death.

When he was attacked by a group of thieves in the Black Dew Forest, because the Death Shadow could not break through the defenses of the three dragon snakes, Russell, as a bystander, only felt that it had a strange shape and was very immune to physical attacks, making it difficult to deal with it. .

Now that he was slashed by the scythe, he truly understood why this pet beast could become the assassination ace of the largest organization in the history of the beast-controlling world.

It’s no wonder that Chen Nong and the others’ squatting before was completely ineffective. After all, although the candle shadow moth is also a master of shadow manipulation, it is still a bug after all.

The Shadow of Death itself is a beast that is almost incorporeal and is made entirely of shadows. If you want to conduct a sneak attack in front of it at night, it is indeed a bit of a trick...

Fortunately, probably because the method of cultivating the shadow of death was too cruel, the souls of the shadow priests who had sacrificed their main beasts were damaged, and the number of contracted beasts was often less than that of ordinary beast masters.

After this mid-level fourth-level shadow priest sent out the shadow of death to attack, there was still no sign of summoning a second beast.

But even so, Russell didn’t think he could really beat him.

Ayou’s attack needs to be charged, and it is difficult to hit the shadow of death that can shadow escape.

Daodao Mantis is a pure physical attacker, and there is absolutely no way to deal with such a pet beast with extremely high physical immunity.

The most correct thing to do now is to try your best to ask for help from others while retreating while fighting.

After all, although the Death Shadow is powerful, it is completely an assassination beast, and its group attack ability is basically zero.

If there were too many enemies to face at once, the shadow priest would have no choice but to run away.

However, given Russell’s current situation, asking for help seems to be a very difficult thing.

Although the breeding ground is not far from the Insect Control House, it is still a few hundred meters away. Without communication equipment, no one will be able to hear you if you shout at the top of your lungs.

As the residents of Fenglin Road were about to be demolished and renovated, almost all of them had moved out. The neighborhood was in darkness, and there were probably no enthusiastic people to call the police for Russell.

As for the management and monitoring model 05, due to limited performance, it cannot achieve 24-hour uninterrupted detection and monitoring.

When the routine scan every 15 minutes finds a problem, and then wakes up Liang Kun, and the other party calls the police, etc., the day lily will be cold.

”Follow me obediently and serve the Fire Thieves. I will spare your life.”

Seeing that Russell was unable to solve the current predicament, the shadow priest slowly spoke.

His voice seemed to have been processed by some kind of equipment, making it sound particularly hoarse, and there was also an obvious electric sound.

The shadow priest’s words probably meant that he did not come to the Chongwu House for assassination. If Russell cooperated, his life would not be in danger for the time being.

”Oh...? I wonder why your group is looking for me? I’m very busy recently, why don’t we talk about it some other time...”

Hearing this, Russell forced out a smile and started talking to the other party with his words.

But it was one thing to deal with it. He didn’t believe a word of the shadow priest’s words and thought he was just farting.

Working for the Fire Stealing Group is no different from seeking the skin of a tiger. There is a high probability that they will be killed and silenced after being used.

If you give it a try in the city, you will have at least a to percent chance of escaping.

If we just go with them now for the sake of temporary safety, and then fall out with each other in the Fire Pirates camp, then we will really be in trouble with the sky and the earth.

”With the will to accept, you can also have such a powerful pet beast.”

Probably because Russell’s panicked expression was so real, the Shadow Priest really thought he had given up and started to draw the cake.

”Oh? Really? Can I be as strong as you?”

Hearing this, his starry eyes lit up very cooperatively, and he took two steps to the side.

”You just need to sacrifice your now useless pet...”

Unexpectedly, the target of kidnapping could actually recognize the teachings of the Shadow Order. The shadow priest even introduced him to what sacrifice was.

After talking nonsense for a few rounds, Russell estimated that the distance was almost the same. Russell took a big step with all his strength and ducked under a bright streetlight.

Due to the light shining directly down from his head, his originally long shadow suddenly shrunk to about the size of the soles of his feet.

”Bah, who wants to imitate you in sacrificing pet animals?”

After confirming that the small group of shadows under his feet could not allow the shadow of death to escape, Russell rolled his eyes at the shadow priest, then raised his hand to summon Ayou and Daodao Mantis.

”I don’t know how to lift.”

Realizing that Russell was just stalling for time, the shadow priest lowered his tone and commanded the shadow of death to raise the scythe and fly towards him. (End of chapter)
