Beast Taming: Becoming a Bug-type Elite Four Member Starting with Silkworm Raising

Chapter 187 Heading towards the Secret Guard Ant Nest!Early the next morning, accompanied by Ah-Dai, Russell and the others set off and rushed to the places where the keys to the two secret realms were located.

The whole morning’s trip went much smoother than everyone expected.

The worm pet domesticated by the crystal ants is called a mud worm. It is a silver-level pet with a worm and water element.

Although their name is not very nice and they look dark and slippery, the mud bug’s racial talent ”fine sand filtration” can purify sewage and provide a precious and stable water source for the ant nest.

What’s even more rare is that mud bugs like to eat the roots of some aquatic plants and extract sugar from them.

Therefore, the water they come into contact with will have a hint of sweetness, which is deeply loved by ants.

Because mud bugs live in wetlands, the area where crystal ants graze them is a flat swamp.

It seems that there used to be an underground river here, but now the water source has almost dried up, leaving an empty river channel and some mud, which can flow unimpeded even with Dumb’s size.

Sitting on Ah-Dai, Russell An An felt the direction of the amber in the secret realm using the ”Cocoon of Evolution” talent. As for the way of travel, he pushed almost all the way.

Faced with the pressure of the eighth-level pet beast, the leader of the crystallized soldier ants here didn’t even dare to stop him. He hid more than ten meters away and watched helplessly as the sword-footed centipede dug out the amber from the mud.

”I didn’t expect it to be so easy. Your talent as an insect whisperer is really good...”

Sitting next to Russell, watching him touch the tomb beetle with energy threads from time to time and control it to move around, He Qiuer let out a heartfelt sigh.

She is also an insect beast master herself, so she naturally knows how practical this ability is.

Although He Qiuer had obtained three secret realm ambers before, the price she paid was far higher than Russell.

Even though the process of using a parasitic Gu to pretend to be a younger brother to sneak into the insect swarm and then steal the key to the secret realm is an understatement, the frequent changes of parasite targets actually put a considerable load on her.

Even though she knew in her heart that she was doing this for her younger brother He Xia and other clan members, He Qiuer still felt very painful every time the parasitic Gu was released from the parasite and immediately possessed a new target.

If it weren’t for the Fire Stealing Group saying that after taking control of the secret realm, they could perfect the formula of ancient potions and completely solve the hidden dangers of the Gu Insect Master clan, she wouldn’t be willing to stir up this muddy water.

However, Russell managed to activate an eighth-level secret beast in an understatement. He Qiuer always felt that the so-called ”Insect Whisperer” talent must be more than just spiritual communication.

”This amber stores the tail, and only one wing is left.”

Just when she was lost in thought, Russell had asked Daolang to dig out a piece of warm yellow amber from the mud pile.

Like the head, the ring-shaped patterns on this section of the insect’s tail were also faintly filled with colorful brilliance, which made him even more certain that the pet beast in the amber was definitely not a common thing.

Perhaps this exploration was too unchallenging. After getting back the key to the secret realm, Daolang and Ayou started bickering on the sidelines.

Sa——

”It’s so dirty, let Ayou do it next time.”

woohoo...

”I can’t dig it, why did you grow claws~~”

Seeing Daolang being led by Ayou and gradually turning into a rebellious child, Russell could only helplessly shake his head.

Who told him to use the ”Cocoon of Evolution” talent to train these two guys smoothly? They almost never lost against pet beasts of the same level, their growth progress has been highly improved, and they have never been stuck in the advancement bottleneck.

Daolang, who grew up in the wild, was a little better. Ayou was really fearless. Even when faced with the riot of the Moon Demon Rabbit, he didn’t seem to be intimidated.

Anyway, after raising it, what else can I do, I can only continue to pamper it.

With the ”Cocoon of Evolution” talent, Russell’s contracted beasts can indeed grow into strong men in their own right. There seems to be nothing wrong with being a bit crazy.

But... Xiaoqi has to stay away from them. Finally, he has a good baby pet, so don’t let it lead him astray.

”It’s still early, so without further ado, let’s go directly to the location of the secret guard ant nest.”

After placing the fifth amber properly and seeing that the time was not yet noon, Russell immediately suggested heading towards the last key to the secret realm immediately.

According to the map provided by He Qiuer and her memories, the secret guard ant nest pointed out by the leader of the soldier ants was not narrow, and Dumb could walk all the way.

There is a mature purple-gold pet beast providing cover, and the team’s goal is not to kill the secret guard ants, but to retrieve the secret amber, which should be very promising.

”Okay! We really don’t have much supplies. We should open the gate to the core area as soon as possible so that we can arrange follow-up actions.”

After using two bottles of healing ointment in a row, and having a nurse spider by his side who continued to treat him with a spider silk bandage, the fighter Unicorn Fairy recovered % to % of his combat power, and Chen Yuan’s fighting spirit became high again.

The rest of them were meaningless. After a short rest, Ah-Dai drove them towards the secret guard ant nest.

…………

The secret guard ant nest and the worm grazing land are on the left and right of the secret realm gate, and they are not far from each other.

Although Ah-Dai moves slowly, it cannot stand up to its huge size. It moves its insect legs, and each step covers a distance of hundreds of meters. The actual traveling speed is much faster than the small electric donkey made by the alliance.

Since the destination was very clear, not long after, Russell and the others saw a cave entrance with a lot of crystalline minerals growing in the distance.

”If you enter from here, you should reach the territory of the secret guard ants. This kind of pet beast has strong long-range attack capabilities. I was directly repelled at that time, and I didn’t even see their appearance clearly...”

Before entering the cave, He Qiuer tried his best to recall and provided everyone with the last bit of information he had.

”Dumb, let’s go in.”

Hearing this, Russell nodded, and then directed Ah-Dai to slowly walk into the cave.

Crystal ants themselves are good at energy attacks. As the queen’s guards, the secret guard ants have excellent long-range attack capabilities, which is normal.

However, with Dui leading the way, he felt there was no need to be too timid.

Facing high-level pet beasts, no matter how territorially aware they are, the secret guard ants will not attack directly without saying anything.

Sure enough, as soon as Ah-Dai stepped into this nest that was filled with wonderful light from energy crystals and was as bright as daylight, several secret guard ants immediately surrounded him.

But they were just as Russell expected, they were just hovering in the distance and did not launch direct bombing like they did with He Qiuer.

Obviously, these secret guard ants are very afraid of Dumb’s eighth-level aura and the energy fluctuations emitted by his huge size.

During the moment of confrontation between the two sides, Russell was also quietly observing the guardians of these crystallized ant nests.

As a member of the crystallized ant group, the secret guard ant generally retains the body characteristics of the crystallized ant, and can be easily recognized as an ant pet at a glance.

But their tentacles are quite different from ordinary crystal ants. Not only are they much thicker, but they are also hollow, looking like two cannon barrels.

Russell guessed that most of their long-range attack skills were launched from here.

Moreover, each secret guard ant has a pair of membrane wings on its back, and its flying ability is very flexible when hovering in the air to observe Dumb.

”It is indeed the strongest combat power of crystal ants. It looks like a bomber...”

Looking at these pet beasts that were specially designed for fighting, Russell secretly admired them.

As a beast master whose initial pet was the UFO Hawkmoth, he naturally knew how disgusting the effect would be when combining excellent long-range attack capabilities with flying capabilities.Unfortunately, these secret guard ants are very cautious and stay too far away.

Russell is not yet able to directly use the ”Cocoon of Evolution” talent to perceive their detailed information, but he can vaguely feel that their strength is around the fifth level.

In addition, the rock wall behind these secret guard ants is covered with energy crystals of various colors, which is also a noteworthy place.

As the elite of the crystallized ant colony, the secret guard ants naturally also master the two skills of energy siphoning and spewing.

During battle, they can use these crystals at will in their lair instead of storing a large amount of crystals in their abdomen, which would prevent their heavy bodies from affecting their ability to fly.

Otherwise, there are treasures everywhere in the large secret realm. The value of these crystals alone could probably buy a large enterprise.

Of course... if you want to win these treasures, you still have to rely on your strength.

Kaka…

”no entry!”

A moment later, an obviously more powerful secret guard ant flapped its wings and flew to the front of the team.

It not only has two tentacle barrels, but also has two additional missile-like crystals next to its mouthparts, and the veins of its wings are also filled with shimmering lights that constantly change colors.

Quietly running the ”Cocoon of Evolution” talent, although Russell still couldn’t perceive the detailed information of this secret guard ant leader, he was at least certain that its level had reached the late seventh level.

As you reach higher levels, the strength gap at each stage will become wider.

Unless the attributes and skill configuration are extremely restrained, or you are ambushed, there is almost no suspense in a duel between the seventh and eighth levels.

However, when Russell was about to drive straight in to take away the secret amber as before, he sensed an embarrassing thing through his ”Cocoon of Evolution” talent.

The secret key in the secret guard ant nest is actually constantly moving...

In other words, the last secret key is actually in the body of a certain secret guard ant!

Combined with the fifth-level Platinum-level strength of the Secret Guard Ant and its flexible flying ability, this is somewhat outrageous.

Fortunately, the creator of the secret realm, that is, the ”king” did not forget the entry threshold he set and did not put the sixth secret realm key on the leader of the secret guard ants.

Otherwise, even with Dumb’s full help, Russell might not have a chance to get the last secret key.

”We are here to challenge the secret realm.”

Looking at the secret guard ants hovering at the top of the cave with no sign of approaching, Russell could only take out a few more secret ambers from his pocket.

Sure enough, like the soldier ant leaders we met before, these secret guard ants had obviously received some kind of trial mission.

Seeing that Russell was carrying five secret realm ambers, they no longer cared about Dumb’s existence and launched attacks on everyone.

Kaka…

”Amber Bearer...the challenge begins!”

A cold and arrogant voice sounded, and the leader of the secret guard ants raised its tentacles and took the lead in shooting two yellow-green light beams at Dumb.

After it, the other seven or eight secret guard ants also used the energy spurting skill, spraying out beams of light that flew all over the sky.

Although their tentative attack this time only used insect energy, and the skill form was essentially insect needles, the momentum was completely different from that of the crystal soldier ants.

Several secret guard ants took action at the same time, and various light beams flew around like a torrential rain, directly forming a dense cross-fire network.

If Ah-Dai hadn’t opened the gap in his back armor in advance and Russell and others hid in, they might have been beaten into pieces in the first place.

”Annoying...”

Being stung all over by these insect needles, Ah-Dai directly used his signature skill ”Mausoleum Guard Tombstone”.

I saw the complex lines on its body glowing with gray-white light, and large rows of gray stone slabs appeared out of thin air, crackling and smashing into the secret guard ants surrounding everyone.

This skill is not powerful in terms of attack. It is basically equivalent to summoning a large number of rocks to hit people.

With the flying ability of the Secret Guard Ant, it is very easy to dodge this powerful and heavy skill with a long charging time.

However, as a comprehensive field control skill, Tombstone of the Tomb Guard is definitely excellent.

These stone slabs, which are also carved with complex patterns and filled with energy, are not only difficult to break, but also continuously emit the energy fluctuations unique to the tomb beetles, inhibiting the energy movement of all enemies in the surrounding area.

When the vague gray mist on the stone floor gradually dispersed, the long-range offensive of the secret guard ants suddenly became sparse.

”You defend with all your strength and leave the matter of capturing the fragments to me!”

Feeling that the surrounding offensive was suspended, Russell quickly said to several teammates.

It’s not that he is too confident and thinks that his hard power is already stronger than that of He Qiu’er in the middle of the fifth level.

Russell chose to once again take on the main role in capturing the amber from the secret realm purely because among the pet beasts in the team, only Ayou and Daolang could fly.

Even if a beast like the Sword-footed Centipede moves forward purely by crawling, it will be difficult to catch up with a flying pet that is focused on escaping.

”Okay! With the stone slab blocking us, we can withstand these insect stings!”

Hearing this, several other people summoned their pet beasts to stand ready, saying that Russell didn’t need to worry about the back row and just went all out to obtain the key to the secret realm.

While speaking, Ayou and Daolang had already flown out of the stone wall under Russell’s command and rushed towards one of the secret guard ants locked by the ”Cocoon of Evolution” talent.

Hoo hoo...!
”This time it’s my turn to show off, please cooperate!”

Sa——

”Okay, okay, okay...”

Even if they faced more than one fifth-level platinum-level pet beast, the first thing these two traitors considered was still the issue of handsomeness, which left Russell speechless for a while.

However, in the final analysis, Daolang’s flying ability is only short-distance flying and gliding. Only Ayou is the main force in this battle.

After taking a look at the flying positions of the ordinary secret guard ants, he issued instructions to the two pet beasts:
”Ayou, attack the secret guard ant I’m targeting with all your strength. Daolang, use the crystals on the rock wall as a fulcrum and try your best to disrupt their formation!”

After receiving the order, Ayou’s figure transformed and instantly split into seven butterfly shadows, surrounding the secret guard ant hiding at the rear from various angles.

Daolang, on the other hand, stepped hard on a raised crystal with his hind foot, and used the force to rush straight towards the other two companions who were preparing to back him up.

Kaka...!
”Expel!”

Unexpectedly, two fourth-level beasts dared to attack him, and the nearby secret guard ants became angry instantly.

They raised their tentacles and shot dense insect needles at Ayou and Daolang mercilessly. (End of chapter)
