Beast Taming: Becoming a Bug-type Elite Four Member Starting with Silkworm Raising

Chapter 168 Tian Tian’s hidden skillsAfter leaving a bottle of Earth Mother Crystal behind, Qian Duoji was not in a hurry to get benefits from the Chongwu House, so he returned to the Golden Shield Company in Qiuchuan City.

The day to go to the Black Dew Forest to encircle and suppress the bandit fire group and explore the secret realm of the insect trial was getting closer and closer, and Russell really had no intention of expanding his business at this time.

Now, what he is most concerned about is how to ensure safety when encountering the beast masters of the Stealing Fire Group and defeat them.

To achieve this, improving strength is naturally the most direct way.

However, Russell’s three pet beasts have either just advanced or just contracted. Their strength is basically in a period of steady growth, and it is difficult to make any major breakthroughs in the short term.

All he can do is buy some mid-level cultivation materials for them.

Due to Qian Duoji’s generosity, Russell saved a considerable sum of money in purchasing materials. Thinking that he could become stronger, he spent all the money on three pet beasts.

Now the ghost energy in Ayou’s body is very strong. After all, it is not a spiritual beast, and the spiritual cultivation has basically reached saturation.

Before there is any intention to cultivate new skills, just stabilize the current cultivation route and energy proportion.

Considering the conditions for using the ”Cocoon of Evolution” talent and the benefits of energy overload evolution, Russell also had to consider taking into account its main insect attributes and enhancing Ayou’s basic physique.

Therefore, the new cultivation material he chose for Ayou was no longer the resentful teardrops with strong energy, but turned into the plant material ”dragon’s blood sap” that was quite mild and had the effect of promoting the energy circulation and metabolism of pet beasts.

Of course, this thing has nothing to do with dragons. It is purely because of the bright red sap. The merchants who grew this plant gave it a nice name.

Dragon blood tree sap has almost no special effects other than containing energy. It can be rated as an intermediate cultivation material, which shows how mellow the energy it contains is.

Merchants who sell this material often confidently say that any plant-eating beast can consume dragon’s blood tree sap painlessly, and if there is any problem, they will pay yuan.

Although the moths do not directly chew leaves, in the wild most of them collect nectar and dew drops for a living.

Drinking this cultivation material, which is equivalent to regular food, can be easily converted into insect energy in the body.

Combining dragon blood tree sap with some common ghost ingredients, the resulting solution was ice-cold and sweet, and Ayou loved to drink it.

When nothing happens, Russell will let Ayou stay at the Dream Spiritual Sanatorium to slowly absorb the trace amount of spiritual energy that escapes from the cobwebs, consolidating the results of previous spiritual cultivation.

As for Daolang, Russell also maintained the original cultivation route of focusing on the insect type, supplemented by the steel type, and not excessively pursuing physical hardening.

Daolang is positioned as a guerrilla close-quarters fighter. Blindly hardening the insect armor will easily reduce its speed. Its subsequent improvement direction is mainly to continuously strengthen the hardness and sharpness of the blade arm.

Because there are so many pet beasts that use their claws or modified limbs on their arms to fight, it is quite easy to find breeding materials to enhance their sharpness.

After a little bit of picking, Russell chose an artificial smear-type cultivation material called ”Steel Mixture”.

The main ingredient in the steel mixture is activated steel energy. As long as it is applied regularly, it can penetrate into the pet’s claws, blade arms, teeth and other parts, slowly increasing the metallization of these parts.

Wait until the hardness of the corresponding part reaches the standard, and then let the pet grind its claws more often, which will have a good sharpness increasing effect.

The batch of steel mixture ordered by Russell was also selectively doped with some gray silver ore.

This mineral is also a man-made material, and the production process is simply to reuse the waste residue produced when refining mithril.

Due to the high temperatures and special processes used to refine mithril, gray silver can hardly be smelted and shaped, and can only exist in the form of slag.

This problem prevents it from being used as a real ore, but grinding it into powder and adding it to the steel mixture is not a problem.

Although the energy compatibility of gray silver is not as good as the serious natural mithril ore, it is still among the best among many metals.

Incorporating the steel mixture made of this material also enhances the energy interactivity of the applied area, which is conducive to promoting Daolang’s understanding of the ”Silver Blade” skill.

The most important thing is that its price is dozens of times cheaper than mithril ore. Even if it is purchased in large quantities, Russell’s income can fully support it.

With most of the breeding budget spent on smear materials, Daolang’s daily diet is relatively simple.

Considering that he continued to maintain high-intensity actual combat training, in order to save trouble, Russell simply booked the most advanced training meals at the Bloodstone Martial Arts Gym for many days.

Although they are said to be advanced, in fact the contents of those training packages are almost the same, except that the proportions of pet materials and general food are different.

Because of the limited scale of the martial arts gym, even if Russell requested to order a training meal made entirely of cultured materials, one meal would only cost about four to five hundred credits after discounts.

In addition, there is an additional expense, which is that the cost of Daolang’s sparring courses has increased.

Originally at the third level, Daodao Mantis, who had gradually become more proficient in fighting skills, was able to compete with Xiang Heng’s blood-toothed wolf.

Now that Daolang has advanced to the fourth level and has learned the two powerful skills of Mantis Fist and Unparalleled Fighting Will, Xiang Heng is no longer his opponent.

In the past few days, the person who accompanied Daolang in melee combat and helped him adapt to his evolved power has been replaced by Xiang Pan, the master of the Bloodstone Martial Arts Gym.

The strength of his signature beast has reached the early sixth level, and he also has two fifth-level beasts, whose worth is completely incomparable with Xiang Heng.

Although Xiang Pan himself was very embarrassed about the fact that the Bloodstone Martial Arts School was inactive, with the exodus of middle-level students and the only one above Xiang Heng who could take action, Russell couldn’t really pay training fees to ordinary students at the price.

Calculating it over and over again, Daolang’s training cost is slightly more than Ayou’s.

Among Russell’s three contracted pets, Xiao Qi is the most worry-free.

As a child who had lived a hard life in the Fire Pirates camp, Xiao Qi was much more sensible than Ayou, the rebellious son.

Russell was so busy a few days ago that he forgot to order suitable breeding materials for Xiaoqi. Sometimes he could only use mulberry leaves to deal with it. It also ate happily with its little head shaking, without even a single complaint.

Now that Xiao Qi has been officially contracted, Russell has also given top priority to his cultivation, intending to make up for the shadow of his childhood.

The strength of the dead leaf cloakworm is directly linked to the recovery speed of its own mucus, and mucus regeneration is a basic ability of the insect attribute, so the cultivation material he chose for Xiao Qi is the living leaves of the plant system.

As the name suggests, the leaves of this plant with the word ”life” in its name are derived from the purple-gold plant pet beast contracted by the owner of Ye Qingyu Hall - the ancient tree of life.

Logically speaking, the breeding materials produced for high-level purple-gold pet beasts would be quite expensive.

However, the total number of leaves of an ancient tree of life is calculated in units of tens of thousands, so the value of a single leaf is naturally not much.

Depending on the size of the leaves and the concentration of vitality contained in them, the material grade of life leaves usually hovers between the low-level and mid-level thresholds. Russell directly bought a basketful of them.

In this regard, Xiao Qi, who has never had so many good things to herself, is naturally very happy.

After this period of getting along and having a fight with the shadow priest, its social condition improved a lot.

Perhaps because he was too excited, he rarely jumped out of Russell’s pocket and lay down and rolled in a lot of green leaves.

…………

After settling down the pet beasts’ daily life for the near future, Russell thought about it for a while and planned to organize his outdoor exploration equipment. The dangers in the world of beast control are many times greater than those in the current world. Correspondingly, the risk response methods in this world are also much richer than in the current world.

In addition to the contracted protection beasts, a set of equipment made of serious pet beast materials is also a standard equipment for many frequent visitors in the wild.

Although these clothing, luggage or vehicles containing the energy of pet beasts are not as exaggerated as game equipment, they cannot be underestimated.

At the very least, wearing a cross-country suit made of tough animal skins, silk threads, scales and other materials, the beast master’s own defense is comparable to that of many low-level pet beasts.

However, personal beast-controlling talents, main pet beasts, and other conditions are all different, and the requirements for protective effects are also different. Therefore, high-end outdoor equipment is rarely sold in large quantities and is basically made to order.

When the beast’s strength was stabilizing, all Russell could think of was customizing a set of exclusive equipment.

He himself is not a beast master who has trained physical strength since childhood like Lu Dahu or Xiang Heng, nor does he have a contracted melee beast, so he is not good at strength.

When choosing the direction of customized equipment, Russell first eliminated bulky scale armor or metal protective equipment.

If the material category is limited to cloth, in terms of protective effect, we have to mainly pursue properties such as toughness, wear resistance or abnormal isolation, rather than impact resistance.

As for the materials, they are already available in the Imperial Insect House.

The iron chrysalis silkworm is so dense and tough that it condenses into a silk that can knock people unconscious. It can be used to make airbags for large airships, and naturally it can also be used to make cross-country clothing.

As long as the weaving density and thickness are slightly reduced during processing, the cloth woven from iron chrysalis silk is a very good textile for defense against enemies.

The most rare thing is that this kind of worm silk also has the ability to withstand heavy blows.

When subjected to a sudden attack, the iron chrysalis silk will produce stress-type local hardening. As long as the opponent’s attack is not a piercing type, it is equivalent to hitting a hard board.

Although the strength of this temporary hardening is definitely not as good as real metal materials, and the fibers will be damaged after hardening, it is much better than ordinary cloth.

It’s light and comfortable, can’t be cut by ordinary knives, can’t be penetrated by ordinary toxins, and can withstand a heavy blow. This is already a very high-end off-road clothing.

As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. For a cross-country suit made of mid-level materials, it would be rude to ask for more.

However, if you want to get a truly high-quality cross-country suit, in addition to choosing good materials, it is also important to find a tailor with excellent craftsmanship.

Russell’s only acquaintance in the clothing industry was Tian Xiuqi, so he naturally dialed his number.

After listening to Russell’s appeal, Tian Xiuqi expressed that he would provide strong support and strive to get him a set of the best quality cloth cross-country clothing in Senluo City.

After all, the insect silk produced by Yuchongwu is unique in several cities. If something happens to Russell, it will not be of any benefit to Senluo Clothing Company.

”I made an agreement with Tian Tian. She will go to see you in the afternoon. You can leave the customization of outdoor equipment to her.”

After hanging up the phone, Russell was happy but also a little surprised.

Tian Xiuqi is willing to help with this, and he is completely confident.

However, Russell did not expect that the tailor he appointed was his own daughter.

But if you think about it carefully, it seems quite reasonable that Tian Tian is a professional tailor.

As a performer, she is often active in various stage competitions, and the beast control stage is indeed an occasion where costume bonuses are very high.

Russell seemed to have heard Tian Tian mention that she would make the most important competition clothing herself.

Compared with the gorgeousness and sophistication of those animal-control stage competition costumes, it is indeed a piece of cake to sew a cross-country suit that is not particular about style but focuses on practicality.

”I didn’t expect that I could wear clothes made by the lady of Senluo Clothing Company~”

With some anticipation, Russell looked forward to Tian Tian’s arrival.

The little girl Tian Tian was also very punctual. She said she would come in the afternoon, but as soon as it was 02:30, the working time came, she appeared at the door of the Royal Insect House.

”Big brother, long time no see.”

The two of them had known each other for quite a long time. As soon as they met Tian Tian, they greeted Russell cordially.

”Hello, hello, do you need to rest for a while?”

After meeting, Russell remembered that Tian Tian was only a half-grown little girl, and it didn’t seem right to urge others to make clothes so non-stop.

”It doesn’t matter, I just need to take the measurements and draw the drawings. It’s the one who will make your clothes~”

Hearing this, Tian Tian smiled and shook his head, then raised his hand to summon his pet beast.

I saw a flash of white light, and a large insect that looked like a spider and held several balls of spindles and silk threads appeared in front of Russell.

”This is... a spindle mother worm?”

It was rare to see a contracted insect beast, and the contractor was a wealthy Loli who could afford a high-end pet beast cub, so he couldn’t help but be a little excited.

The spindle mother insect is a gold-level pure insect pet beast, and has the characteristic of mother and offspring living together.

Through the production method of the mother worm twisting and directing the larvae to quickly weave, the spindle mother worm can quickly weave a large mesh nest.

After being domesticated by humans, its ability was naturally applied to the clothing industry.

The spinning ability of the female spindle insect is very superb. With its help, it really doesn’t take long to complete the production of simple clothes for one person.

However, the combat effectiveness of the spindle mother insect is firmly at the bottom among the gold level. If it does not occupy the home field advantage, many silver level pets can defeat it.

Therefore, it is still quite rare for this kind of pet beast to appear as a contract pet beast.

However, Tian Tian doesn’t seem to like fighting at first glance, and he often makes his own clothes. Contracting a spindle female insect to cultivate it well is quite cost-effective.

……

While the two of them were busy taking measurements, picking out worm silk, and making cloth, Lu Yinning, who was looking at the store, was not idle either.

Seeing such a cute little sister, she was immediately overflowing with love and was busy making tea and snacks.

Although... the healthy pastry set made by Lu Yinning still tastes unflattering. Fortunately, Tian Tian’s tutoring is quite good, so it does not dampen the eldest sister’s good intentions.

However, after Lu Yinning gave her a third cup of ”fresh bitter melon and carrot juice”, Tian Tian directed the spindle worm to spin cloth several times faster. (End of chapter)
