I Live on the Land in Global Games

Chapter 630 - 613: Championship Battle 7
Chapter 630: Chapter 613: Championship Battle 7

Although the wounds always healed quickly after the appearance of a new eyeball, the pain seemed to compound, and she didn’t know if she could endure it.

Especially since she discovered that each new eye only had minimal mental impact on the first day, it would become increasingly significant afterward, combined with the physical pain and exhaustion, she could only hold on for at most two days now.

The more times she gouged out her eyes, the more the pain stacked up, and the time she could persist might get shorter and shorter.

If only there were anesthetics to numb the pain, or sleeping pills to help her sleep.

Unfortunately, neither of these drugs was something she could obtain with her current identity.

In the end, Mu Ying could only go to various drugstores nearby to buy all sorts of over-the-counter painkillers.

After returning to the hotel, she locked herself in a small room.

Since sleeping well was out of the question, she had to make up for it with time.

Apart from eating, going to the toilet, and gouging out eyes, she spent the rest of her time resting with her eyes closed.

She even ordered takeout for her meals.

Like this, she held on for another week, during which she gouged out her eyeballs five more times.

By then, her right hand was numb with pain, and she had grown much more tolerant to it.

Moreover, she discovered that the period for pain reduction was a week; the pain from the first gouging would vanish after seven days, so her pain wasn’t endlessly compounding.

The day she felt the pain recede, Mu Ying, elated, gouged out her eyes twice in succession, hoping to test whether continuous gouging would extend the duration of the eyeball’s mental impact. However, she failed.

The frequency of gouging her eyes out didn’t affect the strength of the next eyeball.

Afterwards, she lay down flat again, waiting until the eyeball’s influence increased to the point where she could barely handle it before gouging it out again.

By the last week of the month, she had to gouge out an eyeball every single day.

As the one-month deadline was nearing, her body had transformed from that of a tough girl who could swing sticks and start fights, to someone pale as paper who would faint at the slightest breeze.

Every day was an ordeal.

So much so that on the last day of the contest, she actually felt joy.

Thank goodness, she was finally going to be relieved.

That evening, she ordered her favorite barbecue, paired with ice-cold cola, and devoured a large meal.

After eating, she picked up the knife, once, twice, three times...

One after another, black eyeballs fell into the fire basin, only to be devoured by the flames.

The smoke detector on the ceiling had been dismantled by her on the first day, leaving only an empty shell.

Mu Ying was drenched in sweat, her veins bulging, her movements growing slower and the intervals longer, but she did not stop.

Before today, she had already gouged out 15 eyeballs, and in the final hours of this evening, she wanted to try, to gouge out a few more.

Maybe there wasn’t an endless supply of eyeballs? Maybe, like marbles, there were only 60?

With just a few hours left, despite unbearable pain, she wanted to give it her all.

Twenty, thirty, thirty-five, forty, forty-two, forty-four...

A minute before the contest ended, she finally gouged out the sixtieth eyeball and watched it roll into the fire basin.

But when she looked into her palm, a blood-red eyeball stared back at her, its malevolence making her soul tremble, and the next second, she passed out.

At last, the competition was over.

When her consciousness returned, she was back in the small waiting area where it all began.

The first thing she did upon waking up was to look at her palm, and seeing smooth skin there, she finally breathed a sigh of relief.

That last blood-red eyeball was more sinister than all the black ones before it, and even though she was no longer in the competition, she was still haunted by it, taking a while to recover her senses.

The influence of the evil object on the mind was indeed too severe.

After calming down, Mu Ying began to look at the results of the competition.

”This Universe Hegemony Competition has ended, calculating...”

”Scoring item one: Locate the trace of the evil object, score value 30”

”This item is 100% complete, points +30”

”Scoring item two: Eradicate the evil object, score value 40”

”This item is 50% complete, points +20”

”Scoring item three: Survival time, score value 15”

”This item is 100% complete, points +15”

”Scoring item four: Quality of survival, score value 5”

”This item is 40% complete, points +2”

”Scoring item five: Role-playing, score value 10”

”This item is 100% complete, points +10”

”Calculation successful...”

”In this competition, you have obtained a total of 77 points”

”Overall ranking: Individual 298,721, belonging universe 5”

”You have received 3 Trialist recommendation spots, and your universe will receive an additional 50% Source Power allocation and Trialist slot rewards for the next century”

”Ranking within the universe: Individual 40, belonging planet 850”

”Your belonging planet will receive an additional 15% Source Power allocation for the next century”

Mu Ying went through the long string of results one by one.

The scores were better than she had expected, especially for the eradication of the evil object, she even obtained 20 points, indicating that her method of gouging out the eyes, although crude, was actually effective.

However, because she was parasitized by the evil object and resorted to gouging out her eyes, she spent most of the trial time in extreme pain, which is why she didn’t score many points for the quality of survival; fortunately, this item wasn’t heavily weighted.

Having points allocated for role-playing suggested that her initial actions in line with the original host’s character and background were correct.

Out of a possible 100 points, she had earned 77 points. Participating in the Hegemony Competition for the first time, it was indeed a good result.

Her overall individual ranking was more than two hundred ninety-eight thousand, which might not look impressive, but the base number was simply too large—more than three billion Trialists from tens of thousands of universes participated, a true Ten Thousand Worlds Trial.

It was already an outstanding achievement to be in the top one ten-thousandth.

In the beginning, she aimed to be within the top one percent just to secure a Trialist spot. Now, surpassing that goal by being in the top one ten-thousandth, she unexpectedly earned three Trialist spots.

The Multiverse had 1,020 Life Planets, with over fifty thousand participants, and achieving fifth place was an excellent result that would afford an additional 50% Source Power allocation and Trialist slots on top of the century’s resource distribution.

Deep Blue Star, despite being ranked lower within the universe, had made commendable progress by surpassing 170 planets with more seniority, placing at 850 while having only 8 Trialists, earning an extra 15% Source Power allocation was quite an achievement.

In the Points Store, everything Mu Ying was interested in was quite expensive, and it would take participation in several more Hegemony Competitions to accumulate enough points to purchase them, so she decided to save her points for now.

After reviewing the competition results, she ended the trial and awoke in her exclusive resting room, Tree House No. 888. Checking the time, less than a minute had passed.

Indeed, the flow rate of the trial time in the Hegemony Competition was vastly different from reality.

She got up, opened the door, and stepped out, encountering Li Luoxia, who had also finished the trial. Li Luoxia had a look of joy, ”The items in the Points Store are amazing, I finally have the chance to improve my Law Affinity!”

Mu Ying congratulated her repeatedly.

”It’s a pity I only got 30 points this time. I didn’t even find the shadow of the evil object!” Li Luoxia said, ”But with the longevity of a legend, as long as I live well, I can participate in several more Hegemony Competitions!”

Out of a full score of one hundred, she had earned thirty, a grade she had never experienced during her school days.
