I Live on the Land in Global Games

Chapter 610 - 593: Dueling Arena
Chapter 610: Chapter 593: Dueling Arena

After a substantial meal and plenty to drink, the employees staggered away, overwhelmed by the ”big pancakes” stuffed by Mu Ying.

As Lu You was about to leave, he finally remembered some official business. ”Lord, the material I handed in is serious stuff. Let’s have a proper talk after you’ve looked it over.”

”Certainly, certainly!” Mu Ying agreed wholeheartedly.

After saying goodbye to her ravenous staff, she tidied up the leftovers and then sought out the material that Lu You had provided.

She was, in fact, a responsible Lord; after all, which other lord would review materials in the middle of the night?

Once she started looking through them, she realized that Lu You was quite talented!

Over the years, he had not only hired a lot of pre-apocalypse academic and knowledgeable talents to compile books, preserving the treasures of past civilizations, but he also started working on the history of the new world, that is, the history post-apocalypse.

The Territory Library was now built, quite impressively, and it had burned through a massive amount of money.

Mu Ying didn’t mind the expense, but what made Lu You exceptional was that he had also devised ways to generate revenue and cut costs.

In this material, there were ideas about printing workshops, territory bookstores, and territory newspapers that were quite mature. Lu You had even completed the research on the necessary technology; she just needed to approve and allocate some land for these to officially get underway.

Moreover, the educational system was also proposed. The basic education part of the Qingshan Academy, the curriculum design, and the teaching outline were even already researched.

After reviewing it, Mu Ying felt it was quite good and found no need for any modifications.

The basic education part roughly resembled pre-apocalypse primary education, focusing on cultural lessons such as Universal Language, Xia Country Language, Territory History, world history, etc. There were courses related to professions as well, but they were only meant to serve an enlightening role.

Once the first batch of newborns in the territory reached the age of three, they could start the program.

As for the formal vocational education part, that would have to wait until the children were older, as they were still exploring teaching methods and curriculum design.

After carefully reviewing the material and finding no issues, Mu Ying sent Lu You a private message that same night, giving him the green light to proceed.

After delegating the work to her employees, she felt like she had no more worries.

The next day, she began studying the magic she had been longing to learn.

From the 8th ring Magic List, the Vortex Technique that creates tornadoes, the Earthquake Skill that generates earthquakes, the Return True Word that transports to a specified location, the Plants Control that commands all vegetation; from the 9th ring Magic List, the Elemental Team that summons multiple elemental creatures to the prime plane, the Revenge Storm that brings a chaotic mix of strong winds, rain, acid hail, and lightning, as well as the Regeneration Technique that can regenerate limbs and restore organs.

Even though there were only seven spells in total, each one was incredibly tempting to her.

These spells were also far more flexible than the lower-ring spells and had broader applications.

Of course, they were much more difficult to learn.

A month later, she was only able to create a small whirlwind with the Vortex Technique.

At that time, Little Stone brought some good news.

It had grown a new special building and awakened a new ability.

[Combat Arena: Capable of accommodating dual and multiplayer battles, isolating combat after-effects, automatically monitoring the blood volume status of participants, terminating fights at any time, deciding outcomes, and recording the number of wins and losses for each battle.]

Mu Ying was not unfamiliar with this arena; it was exactly the perfect arena she had in mind when she initially set up the combat zone. Now her dream was realized, and she could truly throw open the doors of the combat zone.

The other new ability came because she had turned 10 years old.

[Dimensional Stomach: A stomach that can store all kinds of Underground City food. Uneaten food can be hidden in the stomach to be slowly consumed over time.]

With this ability, the part of Guland Underground City that was buried underground and still not consumed had found its place.

The moment Mu Ying knew of this, she took Little Stone to collect the underground Guland Underground City, then filled up the empty space with soil.

This way, even if the world’s blockade was lifted, and Deep Blue Star had more powerful professionals from outside traveling here, it wouldn’t be exposed anymore.

After collecting everything, Mu Ying announced the temporary closure of the combat zone for renovations, replacing the old arenas with the new ones, using these arenas and the test monument to create an arena.

In the arena, players could privately challenge each other or participate in staged matches. The matching mechanism would pair them with opponents of equal level and past achievements. Victories would earn arena points, and the top one hundred players on the leaderboard could receive monetary rewards. A settlement took place every month, and the annual arena champion would also receive a large prize in Contribution Points.

When the arena opened, the entire territory was abuzz with excitement.

This was different from the small-scale combat areas of the past. The arena allowed for the setting of a blood volume cessation mechanism, but most pivotal were those rank-corresponding prizes.

Almost everyone in the top hundred could make a living from the monthly leaderboard rewards. For those in the top ten or higher ranks, it meant achieving financial freedom.

However, it might seem like the territory was bleeding resources this time, Mu Ying actually stood to profit because the spectators’ zone was now safe from accidental harm, so she could sell tickets guilt-free. The higher the participants’ points, the more expensive the tickets.

Each match had its own specialized betting area, allowing for another round of fleece.

Overall, this was a place that combined practical combat training with entertainment and earning money.

Not only could Little Stone consume enough emotional strength, but Mu Ying could also make money from it.

The moment Qingshan City’s arena was open for registration, it was instantly full, with match times scheduled for a week later and the numbers still increasing.

When the news spread to the forums, many players were not surprised, but rather felt an inevitable sense of ”So it’s come to this.”

”Everyone knew Mu Ying had returned to Qingshan City and would surely make big moves. Other than expanding her territory, there was no further news, and now finally, it has come out—it’s an arena!”

”However, how did this arena come into existence? Is it really something a normal territory should have?”

”That Crystal City underground in Qingshan City looks really odd, it’s like a cheat in existence. Hey, Doomsday Game GMs, come out, I want to file a complaint!”

”Who cares how it happened. The rewards are truly enticing. I was planning to go to Kajiatan and had already gathered some people for the Transmission Array. We had just rounded everyone up when the news came out. After discussing it, we switched to the Transmission Array for Qingshan City.”

”It seems other territories can’t compete with Qingshan City! At this rate, it won’t be long before the City-level Territory competition is decided, comrades, the blockade is going to be lifted!”

”Damn! I haven’t saved enough for the teleportation fee yet. Once the blockade is lifted, staying in the No Master Camp is too insecure. It’s better to seek refuge in the bigger, manned territories!”

”I recommend choosing the wealthiest territory up above. The more money they have, the stronger the Territory Shield, the longer it will hold.”

”Don’t worry too much. We’re in the backwaters here, who’s going to bother with us? Once the blockade is lifted, we can leave Deep Blue Star and go have a look at the vast Universe outside!”
