I Live on the Land in Global Games

Chapter 601: 584: Oral ExaminationChapter 601: Chapter 584: Oral Examination

He turned his head toward the new Beastman students and continued to smile, “New student, why are you not speaking? Do you find the homework too easy? Should I increase the difficulty?”

The Beastman newcomers shuddered at her seemingly gentle smile, “It’s not easy, Lord of Wisdom, we understand. We guarantee to complete the task on time!”

Mu Ying, touching her chin, lamented, “That’s too bad, I was actually thinking of letting you learn some more new vocabulary today, what a pity...”

All Beastmen: “...”

Those who had thought the Lord of Wisdom harmless were clearly blind; she was clearly more black-hearted than the Fox Clan Beastmen!

Mu Ying was very pleased with the effect of the first lesson on the opening day, “Alright, I declare, the banquet begins. Everyone can start choosing food according to their own preferences.”

She returned to her own seat, where Gungun and Da Ming were already there—as teachers, of course, they didn’t have to take a test before they could eat. Now it was time for her to watch the students take their test and eat.

The Beastmen, who had originally drooled over the array of food in the square and couldn’t wait to dig in, now stood still without anyone daring to move.

Who would dare to move? Those rude Vines weren’t stopping their writhing; it was clear they were not to be trifled with. With all clans present, even the Bear Clan Beastmen, who least feared being whipped by the vines, didn’t wish to be the first to make a fool of themselves.

Taiger glanced at the roasted meat by the bonfire and nudged his little one, “Go get your father a piece of roasted beef!”

Little Taiger shook his head, “Father, the Lord of Wisdom said that everyone should do their own homework, and if anyone were to substitute or take a test for someone else, both would be punished with double the homework for a continuous week.”

Taiger: “...”

He glanced at the Lord of Wisdom and saw her smiling at him; he instantly turned obedient.

After a while, he asked his cub again, “How do you say ‘cow’ in Universal Language?”

Little Taiger sighed in relief, “I know this one! This vocabulary is a key term and almost test each week includes it!”

He quickly taught his father.

Such conversations occurred often among the Tiger Clan Beastmen. The young adult members of the Tiger Clan, who had been out for nearly three months, had nearly forgotten what they had originally learned.

The Fox Clan Beastmen who also wanted meat discreetly mingled with the Tiger Clan at their table, and after listening for a while, it was all about cows.

Being so large and strong, cows weren’t suitable for their body size and ability to rear, as they were more suited to raising chickens—which they also loved to eat.

However, the Lord of Wisdom had said they could consult their Tiger Clan seniors, right?

“What? Chicken?” asked the Tiger Clan Beastman, who shook their head, “Chickens hardly have a couple ounces of meat, we don’t like them. Test questions concerning cows come up more often, we didn’t bother remembering the word for ‘chicken’.”

Fox Clan Beastmen: “...”

With a keen interest in the spectacle, the Tiger Clan Beastmen gave them a tip, “The Echo Flower will correct your pronunciation; just have someone go up and say a term at random, and you’ll hear the correct pronunciation.”

The leader of the Fox Clan Beastmen’s eyes shifted, and he headed over to the Dog Clan Beastman, “You guys are choosing chicken too, right? I just asked a senior from the Tiger Clan about the pronunciation of ‘chicken’. Want to learn it?”

The Dog Clan Beastman nodded repeatedly.

The Fox Clan Beastman pronounced a term and even kindly repeated it several times for the Dog Clan Beastman.

Moments later, at the urging of the Tiger Clan Beastman, the Dog Clan Beastman went to the Chicken Examination Area and recited the corresponding word to the Echo Flower, then received Binding Vine’s “Love’s caress” as well as a clear, correct pronunciation demonstration from the Echo Flower.

Then, the Fox Clan Beastmen who had come early to watch eagerly learned the pronunciation and took their test in front of another Echo Flower, successfully receiving... a small wooden bowl with three pieces of chicken the size of eggs?

Why so little?

With such plump chickens, and plenty of them, how could such a small portion be filling?

The Binding Vines grew increasingly agitated, their little whips cracking loudly on the ground.

The Fox Clan Beastmen chose to quickly skedaddle.

The Dog Clan Beastman who got a beating: “...”

“Those black-hearted guys from the Fox Clan! Let’s fight!”

“Just a reminder, fighting is not allowed in the academy!” Mu Ying said.

Dog Clan Beastman: “...”

The Fox Clan Beastmen snickered, but soon, they couldn’t laugh anymore, as the meat in their hands flew away and ended up in the paws of the Dog Clan Beastman.

Mu Ying withdrew her magic wand: “It’s not good to deliberately mislead classmates with wrong knowledge. This is a minor punishment with a major warning. If you do it again, I’ll dock your food ration!”

Fox Clan Beastman: “...”

Dog Clan Beastman, holding the meat: “Hahaha, woof~”

With the Dog Clan Beastman taking the lead, the other beastmen finally started to move.

They got used to it as the beatings went on.

Binding Vine might be violent, but it didn’t cause lasting harm, just immediate pain, and was mainly used to prevent them from crossing the examination area to steal food.

Yet for a bite to eat, everyone still seriously listened to the Echo Flower teaching and then went for the test to get food.

Each time they could only get a small portion. If they wanted to be full, they had to take the test multiple times.

What’s crucial was that they couldn’t get more consecutively; they had to wait until the bowl was empty before they could come back for more.

When eating, due to the excitement, many beastmen would forget the words they just learned and enjoy the Binding Vine’s second “caress”.

Gradually, they also learned to recall the words they learned while eating.

The vocabulary test during the banquet was easy, and the Beastmen new students quickly adapted and enjoyed the feast without any pressure.

They were no longer limited to a single type of food. Even if it wasn’t suitable for study, they could still taste it; they usually didn’t have the chance to eat so much variety.

The Beastman Academy’s new student welcome banquet ended happily amid the sounds of reciting words.

The academy finally became lively.

In the evening, the older students from the Tiger Clan took the new students to check into the dormitories.

Mu Ying returned to her own dormitory and dialed her fellow Druids back on the Northwest Plateau using a Dingling Flower phone.

“Have you finished planting in the Northwest? The academy here is already built, new students have enrolled, and we’re short of teachers right now!

I’ve built some nice teacher dormitories. If you come, you’ll get a teacher’s salary, which is quite generous!

The furry beastman students are so pure and adorable; you’ll definitely love them!

Also, the wasteland ecology here needs restoration, and there’ll be a lot of land to plant on later. Let’s earn experience together! When can you come? I’ll bring the students to meet you!”

In the Druid temporary camp on the Northwest Plateau, the Druids were silently gathered around the Dingling Flower phone. Thinking of the vast lands outside, the smiles on their faces froze.

Ever since Mu Ying left, they inevitably slacked off—ah, not really, they became more Zen about their work.

“You are not going to take a long time to come, are you?” Mu Ying knew them well. She began to appeal pitifully: “Sigh, I’ve been so busy teaching this and that, I haven’t had time to study spells, and there’s such a large wasteland to restore. Don’t you want experience? Weren’t we all supposed to work hard together to build up the Druid ranks, to make us Druids the strongest profession on Deep Blue Star in overall strength?”

“Come on, wait for us. We will be there in at most three months!” A Druid couldn’t hold back any longer and guiltily blurted out a timeline.

“Great, I’ll remember that. I’ll be waiting for you guys!” Mu Ying happily hung up the phone.
