I Live on the Land in Global Games

Chapter 75 - 75 74 One Arrow Pierces the Tongue75: Chapter 74 One Arrow Pierces the Tongue 75: Chapter 74 One Arrow Pierces the Tongue Mu Ying, carrying the Green Wood Longbow, left the territory and headed towards the burial ground.

Yuan Gungun’s agility attribute was too low.

Although it could endure a lot of damage, it couldn’t resist toxins, so she didn’t bring it along.

At the copper coin pawnshop, the prices set for ghoul tongues and nails were like a gemstone dropping into water, stirring numerous people to earn money, turning the previously quiet burial ground surroundings into places filled with people hiding in dark corners.

Some even took advantage of the crowd and the fact that ghouls hadn’t shown up yet to hastily move the bodies of friends and relatives who hadn’t been desecrated.

And so they waited until the evening.

It wasn’t until the light began to fade that the ghouls emerged from the ruins.

During this time, quite a few people grew impatient and left temporarily.

Mu Ying couldn’t help but feel lucky about the previous day.

If ghouls generally came out at this time, then she truly happened to come at the right time yesterday.

Today, like yesterday, only five ghouls appeared, but looking at the tattered cloth wrapped around them, only two had come out the day before.

Mu Ying was hiding on a large tree outside the burial ground.

This place was lush with trees; she could easily use the Spider Web Skill to jump and run on the trees without worrying about the ghouls getting close.

Watching the ghouls gradually come within her shooting range, Mu Ying pulled out a wet cloth and covered her mouth and nose, also adding a Protective Poison for extra safety.

When the ghouls ran into the cemetery and saw the empty graves, they completely lost their temper.

Their “grain storage” had vanished into thin air, so they decided to process the living instead; a little preparation was all that was needed to turn the disgusting life aura on their bodies into a delicious Death Aura.

Those who thought they were well hidden were surprised to be discovered by ghouls in an instant, especially those bunched up together who received the “special care” from the ghouls.

The battle was about to erupt.

Fortunately, everyone had wet cloths over their faces, so the poison gas couldn’t threaten them.

But with ghouls’ tall bodies, long arms and legs, and sharp nails acting as natural weapons, their agile, writhing tongues made it difficult to take action.

Moreover, they were adept at group attacks, not getting scattered by the chaotic crowd.

Those with ranged attacks were in a better position, but those who could only attack up close found it hard to strike effectively.

Organized teams could resist by working together, while those slightly more scattered could be easily licked by a ghoul’s tongue and, in no time, lost their ability to move, becoming stiff as boards.

Mu Ying’s entanglement technique was not very effective either; the ghouls were much stronger than goblins, and their nails were particularly sharp, so they were able to break free fairly quickly by cooperating with each other.

However, it did buy some time, allowing those paralysed by the toxin to be dragged away by their teammates.

Even so, a few of those hiding close to the graveyard, who thought they were well concealed visually, were caught off guard by the ghouls’ frenzy and got too close.

Among them, several were unable to escape in time.

After being paralyzed by the toxin, they were immediately gutted by the ghouls.

Although they weren’t quite dead yet, their survival was impossible.

Seeing that most people had reacted, with some running and others forming formations, resulting in a stable fighting force, Mu Ying stopped casting spells to assist and took the Green Wood Longbow in her hands.

She drew the bow without an arrow, the bowstring taut with an arrow appearing, and the Crosshair Skill helped her instantaneously determine the best aiming point.

Releasing her hand, the arrow shot out with a swoosh.

Old Mao was leading his followers in a difficult attempt to dodge the ghoul’s long tongue, not daring to hack at the tip because only the whole ghoul tongue would fetch a high price; each missing piece greatly reduced its value.

Then, they saw an arrow shot from who knows where, piercing directly through the ghoul’s cheek, and at the same time, went right through the base of the tongue.

But in the blink of an eye, the arrow disappeared.

Were it not for the bloody hole in the ghoul’s face and its tongue hanging limp and motionless, he would have thought it was an illusion.

“Boss, it’s the devil!”

“!” Old Mao almost jumped with fright, kicking him irritably.

He thought another monster had arrived, but thankfully he remembered that this little brother had been whipped before and couldn’t help but blurt out that Mu Ying was a devil, avoiding any further embarrassment.

“You better watch your mouth!”

He smiled and gestured towards the direction from which the arrow had come, then quickly told his subordinates, “Get on it, kill this tongueless ghoul.

Its nails can still fetch a good price!”

With Mu Ying’s usual way of doing things, she certainly wouldn’t take advantage of them—a perfect opportunity!

Mu Ying hadn’t shot a second arrow yet.

A good archer knows to wait; she was waiting for the ghoul to expose a suitable angle.

Some of the more resourceful men below also realized this, gradually adjusting their positions, deliberately letting the ghoul side-face towards Mu Ying.

Mu Ying seized the opportunity; the Elves’ Racial Skills in Arrow Skill Specialization allowed her to shoot arrows with increased speed, and one by one the ghouls’ tongues were rendered useless.

Without their tongues, the threat of the ghouls drastically diminished, and those who had intended to retreat surged forward.

Controlled by the hunger in their brains, the ghouls were utterly unable to determine where the arrows were coming from.

As three of their companions were pushed down by these not yet processed foods, their poor minds finally realized the danger and started running toward the cliff edge.

However, before leaving, one ghoul couldn’t bear to leave its companions’ large and fresh bodies behind and couldn’t help but grab one.

Greed led it to its doom.

Another didn’t even manage to reach the cliff before being tripped by a rope set up by Nie Ying and her team.

Ghouls feed on humanoid corpses, and when they become corpses themselves, they can’t escape the fate of having their tongues cut and nails chopped.

If the copper coin pawnshop had accepted other parts, they would probably have ended up even more miserable.

Next came the much-anticipated loot sharing, but everyone held back, tactfully cleaning up the tongues and nails and inviting Mu Ying to take her share first.

“I’ll just take 20 percent; the rest of you divide it based on your own contributions,” Mu Ying said, picking four nails from each of the ghouls, worth a total of 20 copper coins.

The materials from each ghoul were worth about 100 copper coins in total.

Old Mao was delighted to collect the remaining materials from the ghoul his team had worked together to kill, and he said to his underlings, “See, she isn’t greedy.

We’ve made a great profit.”

After all, without that miraculous arrow of hers, their group wouldn’t have just cleanly earned 80 copper coins by taking down a ghoul; they might have even suffered casualties.

“Boss, Laoliu sent a message; some people took advantage of our distraction with the ghouls and entered the instance,” their team had set up a thread on the forum with a code to communicate.

Old Mao sneered lightly, thinking little of those opportunists looking to pick up an easy profit; even he, Old Mao, had reformed, and yet there were still such blind fools.

Nonetheless, he didn’t dare to approach Mu Ying directly and instead found a well-acquainted go-between to pass the message to her.

“I don’t think they’re going to reap benefits, more like meet their demise.

Some of these ghouls we met today weren’t the ones I saw yesterday,” Mu Ying said nonchalantly, shrugging her shoulders, hoping for their sake that they’d have a good outcome!

Old Mao’s subordinate felt a lingering fear; they had also thought about seizing the opportunity to score an easy profit, but it was their boss who stopped them.

They still weren’t fully content, yet Laoliu had been watching them, proving the boss was right—as long as they stayed honest and followed Mu Ying, they would never lose out!
