I Live on the Land in Global Games

Chapter 59 - 59 58 Witch Magic School59: Chapter 58 Witch Magic School 59: Chapter 58 Witch Magic School Mu Ying glanced at the faded white robe she had on and decisively opened the package containing the spring school uniform.

Because she had listened to her mother describe the dangers of the human world and the vilification of witches in storybooks, after her mother was gone, she never dared venture out of the forest alone.

Even though her family’s cottage was not far from the periphery of the forest where humans were active.

Humans called this great forest at the center of the world the Emerald, the jewel of the entire world, even though they could never pass through the fog-shrouded area to reach the depths of the forest.

The witches referred to the place within the fog as the Witch Forest, where the only witch village in the world was located deep within the forest, and witches ruled there.

The spring school uniform included a wizard hat, a satin skirt that reached the calves, a cloak, a set of underwear, a pair of socks, and a pair of shoes—all black except for the underwear and socks, which were white.

The slightly loose skirt automatically tightened when she wore it, fitting her impeccably.

Soon, a little witch all in black appeared.

Mu Ying, curious about her new clothes, had chosen to become a Druid due to her Attributes and Talent, but she was actually very interested in magic.

Moreover, witches in this world, unlike mages in the real world whose profession relied on brains, depended on lineage and innate talent, more akin to magicians.

At night, she locked the door, climbed to the roof, and waited quietly for the silver moon to slowly rise until it was directly overhead, at which point Mu Ying struck the flint.

The fire instantly consumed the envelope with a bang.

Mu Ying felt as though she had been thrown into a washing machine tumbler, being shaken back and forth, and just as nausea began to set in, she was thrown out, staggering several steps before she barely managed to steady herself.

“The school’s rough teleportation method is really something else!”

“Last year you fell in a quite ‘spectacular’ manner, you know!”

...

Mu Ying looked toward the four witches discussing in low voices beside her.

They were generally taller than her, wearing the same clothes as she was but with different colors on the trim—red, blue, green, cyan, and so forth, likely upperclassmen.

Among her group of three freshmen, everyone had pure black school uniforms, and each had a rather pale face; another girl had accidently tripped, her cheeks flushed red from embarrassment.

Mu Ying was aware that there were only two grades at the witch magic school: the lower grade for newcomers and the upper grade for those nearing adulthood.

But even with only two grades, the number of students was still fewer than she had expected; seven in total, which illustrated just how scarce witches were.

“Alright, all the newcomers are here, now let’s begin the Talent test.”

A purple-haired witch waved her magic wand, and a Crystal ball flew out from a cabinet on the left side of the hall.

“Who wants to go first?”

A girl from among the new students hurriedly rushed up to the stage and placed her hand on the Crystal ball, which quickly filled with red smoke.

“Red Witch!”

The girl was not at all shy, introducing herself generously, “My name is Lillian.”

The purple-haired witch tapped Lillian with her magic wand, and her robe was trimmed with a layer of red.

A girl from the upper grades, also with red trim on her clothes, smiled and led Lillian down from the stage.

Mu Ying was the second to go up, while the other girl with blue eyes was still immersed in the embarrassment of tripping right after arriving, seemingly still not having recovered.

“Green Witch!”

As expected, green smoke appeared; in fact, this Talent ceremony was merely a formality.

Generally speaking, a witch’s bloodline type is the same as her mother’s, with very few exceptions.

There are eight types, representing their elemental tendencies and areas of expertise.

Red Witches tend toward fire, Orange Witches to earth, Blue Witches to water, Black Witches to metal, Green Witches to plants, Purple Witches to lightning, Green Witches toward wind, and White Witches toward ice and snow.

However, a bloodline type only represents the most prominent Talent; in reality, every witch’s Talents are quite well-rounded.

They can learn magic of all types, but the one they have a Talent for is easier to master and to deepen.

Mu Ying also introduced herself, and a witch wearing a green-edged robe led her down.

“I’m your direct senior sister, Rosie, and also a Green Witch.

You can ask me anything about studies and living,” the sister, carrying a hint of woodland fragrance, took her hand and led her to her seat.

The last, shyest girl was named Windsor, and she was a Blue Witch.

Her direct senior sister was also a Blue Witch named Reni.

After the Talent testing, the two grades consisted of seven witches, who sat down on both sides of a long table.

Three lower-grade students sat on the left, opposite their respective senior sisters, with another sister in a teal-edged robe sitting opposite the principal.

Completely unlike the grand scale of the Magic School Mu Ying had imagined, it felt more like a small, intimate class.

“Welcome to the school everyone.

Let me introduce myself.

I am Principal Melanie of the Witch Magic School, a Purple Witch, and also your general subjects teacher.

The lower grades’ main task this year is to get an introduction to all witch courses.

After a year, you’ll choose your specialization based on your interests.

Class time is Monday to Friday mornings, and afternoons, evenings, and weekends are arranged by you.

The upper grades don’t have any group courses this year, shifting toward specializing in their areas, primarily through self-study.

Every Friday, a witch who has made achievements in a certain area will teach targeted classes.

You need to use this opportunity to consider your specialized direction to prepare for your adult initiation and independent life after the initiation.

But whether upper or lower grades, arranging your own time does not mean self-indulgence.

What your life will be like after your adult initiation depends on how hard you work now.

Witches never rely on others.

I hope you all remember this point,” Principal Melanie said sternly as if to warn them.

Mu Ying had just thought she was a serious lady, but the next second, the principal leaned back in her chair and started joking.

“I believe you all have briefly gotten to know your direct senior sisters by now.

This year’s witch ladies are very fortunate as everyone got a senior sister from the same branch.

As for Lucia, since there is no Green Witch this year, you...”

Principal Melanie paused for a long time, but didn’t get the reaction from the students she was hoping for, “...well, you are just too dull.

You are in charge of all the freshmen affairs then, after all, your principal has multiple jobs and no time for beauty sleep!”

Lucia ate the food in front of her elegantly, very slowly.

The food on the table didn’t look or taste good, and everyone ate very slowly, except for Mu Ying, who didn’t mind at all.

After all, in the real world, food is precious, and a meal with both meat and vegetables plus juice, nutritionally balanced like this, is something many people haven’t had since the apocalypse.

Mu Ying herself didn’t realize it, but Rosie across from her could not bear it any longer, her gaze filled with a touch of pity.

Suddenly, a familiar voice rang in her ear.

“Mu Ying, don’t eat too much, there’s still a night snack waiting for you!”

Mu Ying looked around; the others showed no reaction, only the Senior Sister Rosie across from her winked at her.

Unsure of what this magic was, Mu Ying nodded repeatedly.

Her attention had been on estimating the flow of time in this world.

Only now did she realize that her sisters were eating slower than each other, with Senior Sister Margreta even slicing her meat into fine shreds.

The two classmates next to her seemed to lack appetite too.

Today was Friday, and school was out on weekends.

The 1-hour Trial Time was enough for her to spend three days and nights in the Emerald World, where the time difference was even greater than in Square World.

It meant she would have to wait for the next Trial Time to officially start classes.

These next few days, she needed to inquire well with her classmates about the situation.
