Chapter 72 - 72 71 Wild Affinity72: Chapter 71 Wild Affinity 72: Chapter 71 Wild Affinity “Chirp chirp~”

“Hmm, today we’re going to the forest.”

“Chirp chirp chirp chirp!”

“Ah, you guys don’t need to trouble yourselves this time, Gungun can come in handy.”

“Chirp~”

“Goodbye!”

Mu Ying waved goodbye to the sparrows and ventured deep into the forest with Gungun.

All the seedlings from the seedling grass basket had been planted in the Plantation, and the frequent planting of the same plants and the perception-derived Professional Experience had been dwindling, so it was time to find some fresh plants to invigorate her plantation.

Ever since the rain had passed, she had wanted to search the woods for some Mutant Plants, but various things had kept delaying her—apart from those in her plantation, she had only discovered the Asparagus as a mutant plant.

However, judging by the popularity of the tasks assigned by Grandpa Shom from the Mercenary Guild, there seemed to be no shortage of Mutant Plants.

The affairs of the Plantation were now on the right track—they only needed to be checked periodically.

Her swordsmanship and Bow and Arrow Skills were also sufficiently familiar, and all that was left was to explore them in real combat.

Both she and Yuan Gungun needed a real battle to adapt their newly acquired abilities.

After moving away from their territory, their speed decreased.

Mu Ying occasionally stopped to concentrate her strength on her eyes and observe the natural power within the plants with her Natural Vision.

Previously, facing that batch of seedlings in the plantation hadn’t seemed significant; after all, the natural power in swiftly growing plants tended to become denser and clearer—plus, the environment was safe, so she used more delicate Natural Sensations to observe.

But now, when initially using Natural Vision to select target plants, she noticed a significant difference.

Her vision of the natural power on plant surfaces had become as clear as it was on the day her Natural Sensation was upgraded during the rain—the standard in that special state.

After staring for a while, she quickly found two target plants, significantly increasing her efficiency.

Mu Ying suspiciously checked her attribute panel, but there seemed to be no major changes.

She belatedly remembered—had her Spell cultivation speed been amazingly fast these past few days?

Frozen Metal and Scorching Metal, though somewhat similar Spells, took only as much time to learn as a usual second-ring Spell, which seemed a bit too fast, didn’t it?

In the end, Mu Ying could only attribute this change to her Race, as Elves and the green witch were races close to natural power.

Perhaps now in the eyes of Natural Father, she had gone from being a somewhat pleasing foster daughter to his own beloved daughter?

Anyway, this was all good news.

She approached the nearest target plant, which was a small tree about as tall as two people, bearing green fruits.

“Oil tea tree, small tree, bearing spherical oil fruit, brown and hard skin when ripe, containing amber-colored oil.

It’s useful for maintaining metal weapons when applied to their surfaces—advised not to consume as it causes diarrhea.”

This too was a Mutant Plant.

The seed of the oil tea tree indeed produced oil, which could be used as food or industrial lubricant, but not with such a high oil content.

Mu Ying picked a fruit, cracked it open, revealing a thick layer of milky white flesh surrounding a pale yellow seed; she crushed it with her finger.

Although not ripe yet, the flesh already felt sticky.

She used Feedback Claw to obtain three ripe oil fruits.

The skin of the ripe oil fruits was hard.

Mu Ying split them open with her sword—the interior was a mass of amber-like oil.

She extracted the seeds to keep and placed all the remaining oil into a white porcelain jar.

She now also needed to use a sword—this stuff was all-natural, and she wondered how it compared to the maintenance oils sold in weapon shops.

This was also a plant she had not perceived before, and the unfamiliar natural power form provided her with 3 points of Professional Experience.

The other target plant was not a mutant plant, but a wild grapevine with cracked skin.

Its condition was not very good, as it clung to a very thick tree, likely having experienced explosive growth during rainfall.

The grapevine’s growth speed couldn’t keep up and ended up being cracked.

Mu Ying eased its tension, smoothed out its intermittent natural power, and watered it with a bit of Recovery Spring to help it regain vitality, gaining her 5 points of Professional Experience.

As she walked, she looked around, occasionally pulling up some plant seeds and outputs.

[In the continued protection of nature, your usage rights for Feedback Claw have been enhanced, and materials can be obtained without harming ordinary animals.]

[The enhancement in your Feedback Claw has attracted the attention of nature, upgrading your Wilderness Identification skill to Wild Affinity.]

[Wild Affinity: Druids who have received attention from nature more easily gain the affection of animals, and ordinary animals will feel friendly towards you.]

The hunting plan was doomed before it even started.

The effect description of the natural bracelet’s Feedback Claw hadn’t changed; it’s just that she could finally achieve the “obtain materials from animals” part mentioned in the Feedback Claw effects.

Nature’s attention too?

What does that mean?

Treatment like a beloved daughter?

She understood as she observed the effects of Wild Affinity.

Of course, there were gains and losses; the hunting plan was doomed before it even began, and the anticipated battle never came.

It really wasn’t her fault.

Sika deer walked gracefully past her, a squirrel threw a pack of its secret nuts at her, and a long-tailed grouse fluttered its wings flying over her head, seemingly unafraid of her making a move against them.

Even a wild boar, rubbing against the bark to scratch itself, had no intention of charging at her from a distance.

Mu Ying walked right up to the wild boar and only received a grunt.

Piglets busily burrowed around her legs, even scrabbling near Yuan Gungun’s legs, which he disdainfully pushed away.

Mu Ying arched an eyebrow at the wild boar, “Are you not going to supervise this?”

“Humph humph,” the wild boar changed direction and continued rubbing.

“...” Well, you guys make it hard for me to even think of drawing a knife, but I can still reach out!

“Choose either a piece of wild boar skin, a strip of wild boar meat, or a wild boar bone...”

The oblivious wild boar rubbed against her hand again, suddenly stiffened, and looked petrified.

(*°▽°*)!

The wild boar didn’t know what had happened, only felt a chill in its flesh, and decisively ran off with its piglets.

The scene of her pulling off the meat was indeed startling, as if it was being pulled right off its body, steaming hot and dripping with blood.

Mu Ying didn’t mind, and stored the meat in her Storage Pouch.

“It’s getting late; let’s head back!”

Having scared off the pig, it seemed unlikely she would find any practice targets today; Mu Ying found herself missing those goblins.

But she was quite good at comforting herself.

Today she had spent a lot of energy exploring and collecting plants, hadn’t walked far all day, and was still near her territory; she decided to continue tomorrow without rushing it.

Thinking of the fresh pork, she looked forward to making her own roast meat when she got back.

Unfortunately, it would be some time before she had the proper wand materials, otherwise using Cooking Magic would have been more convenient.
