I Live on the Land in Global Games

Chapter 69 - 69 68 Flying Broom69: Chapter 68 Flying Broom 69: Chapter 68 Flying Broom After class, not even stopping for lunch, Mu Ying and her companions took their newly made brooms and ran to the back mountain like homing swallows.

Thick layers of fallen leaves were everywhere on the ground there.

What they thought would be an easy task also had its difficulties.

After a few sweeps, Lillian’s broom was the first to lose a bunch of straws and then it fell apart.

Windsor’s was next.

Mu Ying’s was better, as she had tied it very tightly; it didn’t fall apart, but it shrank a little, with the broom handle stuck in the ground.

“...”

The three of them looked at each other awkwardly and then burst into laughter.

“It’s a good thing we held back from flying.

Otherwise, these brooms probably would have fallen apart as soon as we took off!”

“We need to borrow a broom to see how to tie it properly.”

“Better to ask a senior sister for help.

I can’t wait to fly.”

Senior Sister Margreta’s loud laughter rang out overhead just in time.

“Haha, fell apart, didn’t it!”

Looking up, Mu Ying and her friends saw the senior sisters flying in on their brooms!

“Tone it down, we weren’t much better at the beginning,” said Senior Reni, bursting her bubble.

Senior Sister Rosie landed and took the basket off her broom, “Eat first, then we’ll teach you how to tie your brooms.”

Lillian looked at Senior Sister Margreta, then at Senior Sister Rosie, and decisively abandoned her own direct senior sister.

The grass is always greener on the other’s broom.

Mu Ying and her friends quickly finished their meal, and Senior Lucia created a gust of wind to blow their fallen brooms to one side.

After lunch, under the gentle guidance of Senior Sister Rosie and Senior Reni, and the merciless teasing of Senior Margreta, they finally made proper brooms.

They filled ten baskets with leaves and the brooms were still intact.

After calming their emotions, they carved their unique Magic Marks on the handles of the brooms, holding their first flying brooms with excitement.

“Each broom has its own style.

Before you start flying, greet them first!” said Senior Sister Rosie.

Mu Ying could indeed feel that the brooms had even more spirit than the Magic Wands.

The broom in her hand looked almost like a regular broom, but she could clearly feel that it shared a kindred connection with her.

She caressed the handle of the broom lovingly, and it seemed to feel her mood, nuzzling against her palm.

“Alright, let’s start the test flight!”

Senior Sisters Rosie and Reni took on the teaching duties, while the ever-disruptive Senior Margreta was firmly suppressed by Senior Lucia on the side.

“First, send the command to take off to your brooms, let them hover at the right height.”

No sooner had the words been spoken than Lillian’s broom whizzed up, as impatient as its owner.

Windsor’s broom, like its owner’s personality, rose slowly and steadily to hover beside her.

Mu Ying’s broom was a bit clingy.

It rubbed against her leg before stabilizing.

They straddled their brooms, and an invisible cushion supported their bottoms.

“Treat the broom as an extension of your body.

With it, flying is as natural as Magic Power.

Start by trying low altitude straight-line flight at a slow speed...”

They followed their senior sisters in a side-by-side formation, flying slowly about two meters above the ground...

This serene image did not last long as soon as they grew accustomed to it.

Lillian was not satisfied with the slow pace and as soon as free practice began, she couldn’t help but fly faster and faster, pulling off many stunts.

Her excited screams could be heard all over the school.

Margreta quickly joined in, and together they raced their brooms through the air.

Windsor was a bit more conservative, completely afraid to fly fast; as soon as her broom sped up, it couldn’t help but shed tears just like her.

Mu Ying often felt she was the most normal person at the school, practicing in a very orderly manner from slow to fast, low to high, before she started to let the broom hover over the lake to enjoy the breeze and the beautiful view from the air.

Thinking of the upperclassmen who had been paying attention to them, Mu Ying had an idea and flew to Senior Sister Rosie’s side.

“Senior, I have a magic wand now, and I want to practice cooking magic.

Can you teach me?

I’d like to make something delicious for you all tonight!”

Cooking magic is part of life magic, also mentioned in the Witch’s Book, but very basic, only teaching how to turn flour into an edible loaf of bread with this magic.

Rosie was surprised that she had snapped out of the excitement of her first flight so quickly but still agreed to teach her.

In essence, cooking magic is about turning the cooking process in one’s mind into reality under the influence of magic power.

The process by which the magic power exerts influence requires the witch’s imagination and determination in spell casting.

So theoretically, someone who already knows how to make bread could easily use cooking magic to do so.

With enough practice, one could even multitask, doing other things while the cooking magic is at work.

Under Senior Sister Rosie’s detailed explanations, she quickly grasped the essence of the magic and began to try.

With many recipes in her mind, Mu Ying still chose the not-too-complicated hot pot for her first attempt.

Senior Sister Rosie helped her gather the ingredients she needed, and Mu Ying visualized in her mind what they should look like after being processed.

There’s no need for clear processing steps, only a general impression; however, one needs a deep understanding of the desired result.

After several attempts, she successfully made a buttery broth and bone broth, the taste reminiscent of a restaurant she had frequented before the apocalypse.

Hearing she was going to cook, Senior Sister Lucia went to the lake and caught a Silver Fish to show her support.

Mu Ying found the most magical part of cooking magic to be its utter subjectivity, instantly granting her the ability to debone the fish.

She also recreated the fish and beef rolls successfully.

“Thank you all, seniors, for taking care of us during this time.

Cheers!”

Mu Ying raised her juice and said, as those who were avoiding alcohol could only quench their thirst in such a manner.

Everyone else’s cups were filled with the wine contributed by Senior Reni.

“Whew~ This spicy hot pot is so satisfying!

I love it!”

“I love it, too,” Lillian said, drinking less wine to alleviate the spice.

“The clear broth is more delicious.

It’s the best for dipping!”

After stretching their chopsticks towards the spicy pot once, Reni and Windsor became staunch supporters of the clear broth.

The remaining three enjoyed both and toggled between them, accepting and liking both broths.

“Mu Ying, you really have a talent for cooking.

This hot pot is both simple and delicious.

We are lucky,” Senior Sister Rosie said, never stingy with her praise.

“Cough cough, I heard someone’s crucible hasn’t even been used for brewing magic potions, but has been used to cook food?”

Lady Melanie appeared at some point and remarked in a ghostly tone.

“Headmistress!

Everyone else is here, where did you hear about it?”

Melanie chose not to entertain the dim-witted Red Witch who couldn’t even grasp a simple pretext.

Reni, with an indescribable look, stuffed a piece of cabbage into Margreta’s mouth, “Headmistress, we’ve just started eating.

You arrived just in time.

Please try the fresh dish Mu Ying the junior just made with cooking magic!”

Only then did Melanie nod her head, “Hmm, it smells quite nice...”
