I Live on the Land in Global Games

Chapter 51 - 51 50 Monster Situation51: Chapter 50 Monster Situation 51: Chapter 50 Monster Situation Seeing that the team leader’s condition had stabilized, Lu You wiped the sweat from his forehead and let out a deep sigh of relief.

He quickly fumbled in his pocket and pulled out a handful of copper coins to give to Mu Ying.

“Thank you so much, this is for your healing services.

Once you’ve recovered your mana, I’ll need to trouble you to heal again.”

Nowadays, finding a Priest to cast Healing Magic indeed comes with a charge, with the market rate being 5 copper coins for a level 0 Spell and 10 copper coins for a level 1 Spell.

Lu You was giving more than the market rate.

Mu Ying smiled and declined, “I don’t need the money, but I’m interested in learning about what’s happening outside, especially the goblins you mentioned earlier.”

“It’s mealtime right now, so how about we invite you to have a meal as a way of saying thanks, and we can also tell you what you want to know?”

Huo Shaobai stopped Lu You from trying to give more money, considering that their team didn’t have a single Priest, and it was troublesome whenever one of them got hurt.

It was crucial to establish a good relationship, and it would be even better if they could recruit Mu Ying to their team.

Otherwise, it would be more convenient in the future to ask for help.

After some consideration, Mu Ying agreed.

Considering that her leg was still not very convenient, a few of the men were sent to the Sela Restaurant to order the meal, planning to bring the guest home to eat.

As late arrivals to the camp, they had settled in one of the last numbered Tree Houses, which was relatively far from the shops.

However, it was clear that the Tree House had been expanded.

But the expansion was rough, only enlarging the interior space without dividing it into rooms.

It was just one large open space where they both lived and dined.

Although they were all young men with military experience, they were quite disciplined in maintaining their living space, with bedding neatly folded to one side.

“Sorry for the humble accommodations,” Huo Shaobai said with embarrassment, a rare look of discomfort on his face.

Usually, it didn’t bother them too much to just sit on the ground to eat among themselves, but it seemed inappropriate when hosting guests.

Mu Ying didn’t mind at all.

Before she bought furniture, she also ate on the floor every day.

At least they had a large low table.

The hand-sized silver figure, Shi Yin, also made a rare appearance.

Usually, he wouldn’t show up when there were strangers around, even if they couldn’t see him.

Once Shi Yin appeared, he obediently sat on her shoulder.

Mu Ying glanced at him and let it be.

Huo Shaobai just felt a prickling sensation on his back, and for some reason, he dared not look too much at the young lady sitting across from him.

While waiting for the meal to arrive, Lu You began to recount their day’s experience, with Huo Shaobai adding comments from time to time.

It turned out they hadn’t given up on the idea of establishing a safety zone outside the territory.

Although it was safe within the territory, they couldn’t be self-sufficient with no room for farming.

With Qingshan Town gone, it had left a vast open land that was suitable both for building houses and cultivating fields.

They had taken advantage of the clear weather today to survey the area.

The morning went smoothly, but at noon, a meteor shower resembling the one on Doomsday suddenly appeared in the sky.

Although there were far fewer meteors than last time, almost as soon as they touched the ground, the creatures within the light spheres appeared.

Feeling that something was off, they decided to head back to their territory.

They had already entered the forest when they encountered a group of small, green-skinned creatures that attacked indiscriminately.

The creatures were well-organized and agile, with even an archer among them.

The team leader got injured while killing the small leader, which made the creatures timid and caused them to retreat.

The killing prompt labeled these creatures as goblins.

The Slaughter Experience gained from killing them was much more than from zombies, and they found quite a bit of money on the goblins.

They also retrieved some small-sized armor and weapons from the goblins, which were too small for them to use, so they planned to see if they could sell them.

Another thing was off; unlike with zombies, the goblin corpses didn’t disappear immediately after picking up their dropped loot.

“Chirp chirp chirp chirp~”

Urgent sparrow calls came from outside the window.

Mu Ying’s ears twitched, and after excusing herself to Huo Shaobai and the others, she stepped out of the Tree House.

The little Mana Value I had just recovered was just enough to cast another animal conversation.

“North?

The big meadow?” Mu Ying, hearing the message from Sparrow Mother, immediately realized the goblin had left the forest.

Animals are far less intelligent than humans, and their way of describing things is also different, but northward is the direction out of the forest.

Since human traces had disappeared, wild vegetables that sprouted with the help of rainwater had taken over that piece of land.

“Chirp~” Sparrow Mother flapped her wings, shooing her bothersome chicks to one side, and tenderly pecked the back of Mu Ying’s hand.

Mu Ying silently counted the pecks, could there be twelve goblins?

Huo Shaobai and his group had only encountered a few.

Each Meteor was supposed to contain only one monster, so how had these dozen goblins come together?

Mu Ying suspected it had something to do with that screech, maybe it was their signal for transmitting information.

She wondered if more goblins were still on their way?

The more she thought about it, the more she felt she needed to quickly eliminate the threat; the clearing outside the forest was where she had planned to place a Sub-camp in the future.

According to the intelligence she had just gathered, the goblins were numerous and moved swiftly, making them difficult to deal with.

Huo Shaobai and his crew had suffered such serious injuries also because the goblins were small and could hide in the bushes, which went undetected until it was too late, but the little goblin leader Huo Shaobai killed was only Level 2.

Although level could only partially represent combat ability, the fact that the leader was only Level 2 indicated that the other goblins had even lower levels, so with a bit of caution, there shouldn’t be a big problem.

After feeding the sparrows some millet soaked in Recovery Spring, Mu Ying went to visit the other teams who had just returned.

Most came back with just a scare, only a very few teams encountered monsters, and even for those, injury was the least of it, with some teams even losing members.

Keep in mind that everyone had already become somewhat familiar with their Profession’s ability, and the teams had developed some attack routines.

Moving in groups was very secure; at worst, one might get injured fighting zombies, but the number of deaths had already greatly diminished.

But everyone seemed to have encountered goblins—could it be that this was a worldwide goblin arrival?

Mu Ying returned to her Tree House and opened the forum page, by now, the forum was blowing up.

The atmosphere was entirely different from the relaxed mood of two days ago; the posts speculating zombies were no longer a threat and that Doomsday was coming to an end were still popular, but now the comments underneath were a stream of pessimism.

“Zombies are indeed no longer a threat, but the apocalypse has just begun.”

“You never know what else might fall from the sky.”

“I never thought the day would come when I’d be appetizers for some creature with a dog’s head.

Is it because I ate too much dog meat?

Whatever, too tired to call for help...”

“Don’t give up hope, person above!”

“I just want to know whether to roast, boil, or deep-fry them?”

“I was wrong, they’re not planning to kill us first—they’re starting a fire, they’re not going to roast us alive, are they?

I’m scared of pain, help!!!

I’m at Stone Mountain north of Linxi Camp, the dog-headed creatures are pretty rich, someone come save me!”

“Warning, do not treat these monsters like zombies, you’ll meet a tragic end!”

“My Spell Casting Attribute is too low, can’t learn Spells; can’t learn Spells, level stuck; level stuck, strength won’t rise, no solution, am I just left with waiting to die, lousy game, why isn’t there an option to delete the account and start over?”
