I Live on the Land in Global Games

Chapter 66 - 66 65 The Story of the Star Flower66: Chapter 65 The Story of the Star Flower 66: Chapter 65 The Story of the Star Flower “Phew!

Finally done, herbal medicine is so boring,” Mu Ying slumped down onto her chair and wriggled her body as soon as Principal Melanie walked out of the classroom, “This chair is also uncomfortable, way too hard.

We need to bring a cushion tomorrow.”

“The herbs in the book are really pretty though, especially the flowers.

I love the Star Flower that Principal Melanie talked about today.

I wonder if the fairy’s story is true.

Does she regret coming down from the stars?” Rosie said, holding her chin.

“If it were me, I wouldn’t be so foolish,” Mu Ying felt that Rosie was getting love-struck and decisively wanted to nip it in the bud.

In the human world, the Star Flower is also known as the Love Flower.

There’s a legend about a fairy who lived on the stars and loved watching the vibrant lives of humans on earth every day.

Then one day, a man wished for a girl as beautiful as the stars.

He swore he would protect her forever and plant a hillside full of Star Flowers for her.

Hearing this, the fairy leaped down from the stars to the man.

The man fell in love with her as promised, and began planting the Star Flowers.

Though difficult to grow elsewhere, the flowers quickly blanketed the hillside around the fairy, and she was very happy every day.

However, once the fairy left the stars, she became mortal with a very short lifespan.

She died a few years later, and that’s where the story ends.

“Want to hear another version of the story?” Mu Ying asked.

Rosie nodded her head.

“Legend has it that the man, thanks to the Star Flower, leaped from a mere civilian to the renowned Baron Star of the Kingdom.

But after the fairy died, he could never grow a single Star Flower again.

So he made another wish to the stars for another fairy just like the stars.

If you were the fairy, would you come down again?”

“...” Rosie felt her beautiful longing for love had already ended before it even started, “Of course not, I’m not stupid!

But why does the story sound so...

sinister, the way you tell it?”

“I think Mu Ying has a point.

Otherwise, why are Star Flowers still only found in the wild, nearly impossible to cultivate, with such few numbers?” Lillian chimed in.

What are men compared to the joy of flying on a broomstick in a duel?

Mu Ying nodded, “So, no matter what, never place your happiness entirely in the hands of another.

Always have a way to protect yourself!”

Rosie nodded mechanically.

“By the way, Mu Ying, what do you think Principal Melanie meant by her last words?

I was actually thinking about infecting a few Broom Grass Seeds at the same time.

One broom isn’t enough!” Lillian suddenly said.

“From my brief understanding of Principal Melanie, she quite enjoys seeing students make a fool of themselves.

Why don’t you give it a try?” Mu Ying said with interest.

“Oh dear, Mu Ying, you’ve also gone astray!” Lillian lunged at her, tickling her.

The friends burst into laughter and then split up for the time being.

Mu Ying went to pick a pot in the greenhouse.

Lillian planned to ask her Senior Sister Margreta about infecting Broom Seeds simultaneously.

Rosie decided to go back to the dormitory to wipe down the water from her Witch’s Book.

Mu Ying shrunk her Witch’s Book to the size of a palm and hung it at her waist.

As she reached the greenhouse, she saw Rosie busying herself in the Medicine Field.

“Mu Ying?

Class is over?” Rosie straightened up and waved at her.

Mu Ying nodded and ran over, “Just finished class.

Principal Melanie asked me to pick a pot for the Broom Grass.”

“It sprouted so quickly?

It seems our Mu Ying is quite amazing,” Rosie said, patting Mu Ying’s head approvingly, “The pots are all at the entrance of the greenhouse, a medium one should suffice.”

Mu Ying reluctantly enjoyed this motherly affection from her senior sister.

Though Rosie was only a year older, she always felt babied by her, mainly because of her short stature.

The pots at the entrance of the greenhouse varied in size, all made of clay, and there wasn’t much choice.

She just picked a decently shaped, medium round pot, scooped some damp soil into it.

Then she followed instructions from the Witch’s Book and buried the sprouted Broom Grass Seed one finger deep.

No watering needed, just had to infect it with Magic several times.

Then she found a sunny spot in the Medicine Field to place the pot and that was all.

After planting the Broom Grass, she picked some vegetables and fruits from the veggie plot, tucked them in her pocket, and washed them by the lake.

Then she sat under a big tree by the lake, snacking and reading about history from the Witch’s Book.

This was particularly important for her understanding of the overall situation in this world.

After a while, Mu Ying realized that this section was written from the perspective of a witch and mainly targeted witches who wanted to travel or settle outside of the forests.

For example, the description of various continental forces went like this, “Rose Kingdom, a human dominion, recommends visiting as a fairy, as the Queen here gained her position with the help of a ‘Fairy Godmother’.”

Thorny Kingdom, a human dominion, without sufficient military force, is not recommended for visits.

Green witches who like thorns might try their luck there.

...

For the aforementioned human forces, it is generally advised not to expose one’s identity as a witch and to remember to bring enough Hair Dye Potion when visiting; brown is best suited for witches who prefer to keep a low profile, whereas gold is best suited for those looking to find a partner and have daughters.

Furthermore, the Undersea Mermaid Kingdom is always recruiting witches, with those proficient in Magic Potion given priority and lucrative wages...”

The content also included a large number of typical cases for reference.

This part would be more aptly titled “Witch’s Rip-off Survival and Employment Encyclopedia”.

It seemed that witches might have misunderstood the historical significance of the human world.

However, it also indirectly proved that the title of witch was enough to raise alarms outside the forest!

Mu Ying covered her face and smiled bitterly, wondering what her predecessors had done in the outside world to result in such a reputation.

No wonder in the stories from the human side, witches were always the villains.

Feeling helpless, she closed the book and returned it to its normal size.

Originally, she had worried that there was only one copy of the book, and that it would disappear after physical transformation, but she didn’t have to worry about that after sealing it with her unique mark.

The Witch’s Book was quite special in that regard.

[Mu Ying’s Witch’s Book]

[Function: A Spiritual Carrier that records all Magic knowledge of Green Witch Mu Ying]

[Physical Transformation: The Magic bloodline of Green Witch Mu Ying]

[Physical Effect: The Witch’s Book that exists simultaneously in both the Emerald World and the real world]

[Source Power Transformation: Cannot be transformed]

Meaning, as long as she had the same Magic bloodline in the real world as this body, she could take the book in and out of the Emerald World without having to use any additional Source Power.

It was a pity that she couldn’t say the same for her flying broom and Magic Wand; it would save her lots of effort!

As she infused the wand materials, her thoughts drifted to other matters, and Magic Infusion gradually became almost instinctual for her.

“Mu Ying, Mu Ying, our Broom Grass has sprouted!”

In the evening, Lillian and Windsor came running excitedly.

“Congratulations, have you planted them yet?” Mu Ying said cheerfully, knowing the two had been somewhat worried.

“We’re just about to pick a pot, coming with us?

Let me tell you, I was almost tricked by Senior Sister Margreta.

If it weren’t for Windsor who also asked Reni, I would have probably lost at least two Broom Grass Seeds, boo hoo, the senior is too bad, thanks to Windsor, love you!”

Lillian complained loudly as soon as she arrived, still shaken by the incident, as she hugged Windsor’s neck and gave her a kiss.

This afternoon Mu Ying was so engrossed in reading the Witch’s Book that she completely forgot about this matter and hurriedly asked what exactly had happened.
